The Da Vinci Code (2006)
A lot of noise about nothing
I was looking forward to seeing this film specially as the Catholic church and other churchgoers were worried about the content.I wanted to see what the arguments were about. Well all I saw was a boring film with preposterous happenings and Ian Mckellen overdoing his part to a ridiculous extent. Tom Hanks, Audrey Tautou et all fly to England and are greeted at the airport by approximately a dozen blaring police cars. No problem!! McKellen tells the detective in charge no one is with him and proceeds to London. No passports needed but then there is no immigration security either so anyone can go anywhere in this film including Hanks who seems to have an amazing knowledge of London and the English countryside. He goes all over the place even jumping on to a London bus which without having any English money is quite a feat. If I tried it I am sure I would get thrown off. The Albino monk is the best character in the film but maybe we are all at fault for thinking this film would live up to all the hype that was bandied around before it opened. The films best ally is the church who created so much free publicity about a lot of hokum !
The Forgotten (2004)
Great actress in an awful film
This is a brief comment about The forgotten. It was so dreadful that the friend I came with went in the lobby to play with the amusement machines. I am sure he had more enjoyment than me. A silly and very poor film. Julianne Moore is the only good thing in this bad film. Even the aliens were so poor they only had one alien representing their entire planet. I wonder if it was something to do with the alien actors union. If these aliens ever see this film they will probably return to their planet wondering why humans spend so much money on utter drivel. I have no idea how this film won the backing to be made or why Julianne Moore wanted to make it. She has probably FORGOTTEN the reason.
Connie and Carla (2004)
Better than you think
Forget the critics views or you will miss a very entertaining and funny film.It offers a good time with lots of laughs. Forget the comparisons to Some Like it Hot or anything else. Just go and enjoy it. The audience certainly did where I viewed it and seeing Debbie Reynolds once again was a bonus. These days it is a pleasure to go to a movie and see a movie unfold that has no violence, no hip hop and no weird ending. A rarity to the average moviegoer. There were four of us at the movie and everyone said they had a good time as did everyone behind and infront of us. Maybe we are in the minority but we go to a movie to be entertained. The musical numbers were very well staged and the film as a whole was a delight.
Love Actually (2003)
Excellent film deserves applaud actually
Four of us went to see the sneak preview last night. Everyone enjoyed it greatly and the audience applauded at the end. I have no idea how some of your members slated the film as crap!! I wonder if they were watching the same film.
