Hogfather (2006)
Wasted 4 hours of my life that I can't get back - possible spoilers
I am a big fan of some of Terry Pratchett's creations - I love the Guards books, the Death series & the Librarian. The rest I can take or leave as 'likeable' characters although I acknowledge that he is a very clever writer, linking themes and subtly making you think about the world.
But this adaptation left me cold. I was bored. Nobby was a travesty (although possibly only CGI a la Gollum would have done him justice), Teatimes' accent was a rip off of Johnny Depp in Willie Wonka (& why did they have to remake the disturbing Gene Wilder classic?????), no librarian!!!!, and 99% of the subtlety, humour & characterisation of the book had gone.
I know TP was on set & heavily involved but this was rubbish.
I know that you cannot possibly get everything out of a book onto the screen (look at LOTR) but this was a very pale shadow of the book
Meet the Magoons (2005)
Pointless, illogical, no conclusions and one of the funniest shows I've seen
To the other negative comments I have read - Did you watch the same show as I did?
Language was shocking, several episodes just finished with no escape from the situation they are in but everything is back to normal in the next episode, & if you know Glasgow then the car trips made no geographical sense what-so-ever.
BUT, that is what made it so funny.
Reminded me of the illogicality of the Fast Show.
Really hope they bring it out on DVD
Why does IMDb say I don't have enough lines. Maybe they should wrap a bit better.
A Town Without Christmas (2001)
How obvious was the plot 0/10
Bah Humbug. Schmaltzy american feelgood pap. Forced to sit thru this on boxing day with my mother-in-law as it is the sort of poorly made, appallingly scripted &^%$ I avoid like the plague. If you're old & sad, or young with no intelligence watch this. If you have any self respect then watch something else
Deathwatch (2002)
Don't waste your time
Words do not exist to describe how appalling this film is. The characters are one dimensional and stock : Psychopath, religious one, experienced & duty bound NCO, Clueless officer. The acting is pathetic and the dialogue cliched : "Don't call me sir. I'm a sergeant. I work for a living" has got to have been in every greenhorn/experienced soldier movie. A horror movie!! We spent most of the time switching between laughing and being desperate for the film to end.
