Black Lagoon (2006)
Too much for many people, yet it touched me !
I waited a long time before watching it as it was suppose to feel like Cowboy Bebop which I enjoed a few episodes eg. The one with a chess game happening between the little girl an "god".
As for Black Lagoon, the setting, the story, the characters, the graphics, the background sounds all immersed me into this world which kinda haunted me for days.
The story let you feel some gaps as why, anti-hero, Rebecca Lee (Ravy) wont go forward with her relation with Rock; she's broken. Eda is very interesting too. Ben I remember him saying that we must learn to shut down some part of us in order to be eligible to go forward with our life. How much truth can we bear?
Now what to watch next ?
Hijack (2023)
For all your family
So, if you are normal people aka "esti d'cave" you will be delighted! Else, you may wish you never was born! I was once told television was a window to see the world, but I now realized I need to reached six hundred characters, yes you read me right, six hundred characters, six hundred characters. Oups, I haven't, but I eventually will reach this lower limit of six hundred characters lol I just made it, or I'd I ? Yep.
Apart from that, the pacing is good and the characters are interesting. The "real-time" feel and keeping the hijackers' intent hidden help out as well.
However, the behavior of people aboard the airplane is inconsistent with what I'd expect post-9/11. I just don't foresee any hijacking being successful in the current climate.
Reacher (2022)
He is the real man, man !
Same old war hero story without a twist. It will please many people, mostly those who like John Wick.
He is strong, he is skilled in about everything, he could be Sherlock Holmes' mentor, he will protect the weak (the poor us). At the olympics, he would get all the gold medals.
Yet, after seen 3 episodes, it gets an iota better. I'v tried to read one of the books, but I never wanted to finish it (not my cup of tea).
Around the World in 80 Days (2021)
Big adventure around the world and in our heart
I just finished watching the last episode - what an emotional ride ! It's reminiscent of my own youth and I'm glad they chose creativity over novel fidelity. I hope to see a new season of this merry party - I'm open to go 2000 leagues deep with them. Bravo !
PS: The music score is plain awesome ! I use it as my iPhone ringtone.
Noblesse (2020)
Stereotypical !
Same old crap where people with insane power fight against each other (with stupid weapons and grotesque effects) and normal (stupid) people are caught in the middle. I prefer Noir, The girl who leap through time, Whisper of the hearth, Highschool Of The Dead, Black Lagoon.
Also, episodes are 23 minutes long including some 5 minutes same old 1980ish closing/ending bad music generics.
You are the hero of you life - make the most of it while respecting others !
It's easy to see dark in all things, suffice to close your eyes.
Penny Dreadful: City of Angels: Wicked Old World (2020)
Superbe ! The music, the scenes, the plot, the cast
This episodes transported me and reminisce of my youth (70s) when I watched movies with my grand parents. What can I say, this episodes was very interesting - the musics, the dances, the romance, the fights between "important" people - the angry witch sister.
Riverdale: Chapter Seventy-Four: Wicked Little Town (2020)
Out here, we enjoyed all three musicals episodes a lot
That's faithful to the Archie's comics where anything could happen on the well put wire. Many threads of possibilities are been followed and that is the originality of the show. Most episodes are well done arts where even the flaws are traits. Cool to see artists outside their comfort zone. Also, we got to see Hedwig movie prior to see this episode and wow it was a blast and we want to see the musical at Broadway (or Chicago) next time we go.
Death Note (2017)
Some scenes are so sexy...
Scenes including the the two main protagonists are awesomely sexy. I've seen the original series when it came up - this single 90 minutes film is good enough. Since I now have this notebook, I can use it wisely by only adding the right people into it. Ah I need one mire line of text to validate, let's hope I do now...
