The Mandalorian: Chapter 8: Redemption (2019)
Not a bad ep. Not a great ep. Though not a season finale ep.
Well, sigh, sigh, sigh. I mean, once I saw the cheesy storm-trooper opening sequence, with bad dialogue, I got the feeling that this ep would not be special.
It's a shame, as ep 7 was the mother of all cliff-hangers. Made me want to watch EP 8 the minute it came out. They went from amazing ep7 drama to cheesy wacky stormtroopers. And the recap editor truly gave away that the reprogrammed droid was going to save the day.
Some fun action. Nicely paced. We even get to see Mando's face (though not hard by googling the actor's name). But, to end the season they way they did, with no real cliff-hanger and pretty much the same thing we have seen all season, was very disappointing.
Reviewer LANDOFREE, with his headline of MEDICORE CLIFF-HANGER at BEST pretty much sums it up. Come on some of your with 9 to 10 scores. This ep is not a 9 or 10. Eps 6 and 7 were 10, 9 respectfully. This is a 5. And did someone truly praise director of ep 5 Dave Filoni? That was easily the worst ep of the season with the worst Star Wars actor ever, that Carnavale kid.
They could have had a tiny link to "Five years after RETURN OF THE JEDI" A Luke Skywalker or Han cameo. Or Rey's mom or dad and young Rey to tie into RISE OF SKYWALKER. Anything super cool and cliff-hangerish. Instead, we get an underdeveloped Gus Fring as the big bad. And Baby Yoda, no real drama or story arc. And much of the same story.
Now we wait a year...for what again?
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
A damn, fun, exciting movie! Trust the AUDIENCE RT score, not the critic score!
The critics are wrong: "The Rise of Skywalker" is a terrific, fast-paced, exciting, funny, dramatic movie that ends on a perfect not. Contains many great plot twists and surprises. Consider too, JJ had the lead star die before production started and stepped in for a fired director.
Seen it twice already, will see it a third time. Like going on a thrill-ride at Disneyland!
Go with the 88% audience score on this one!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 6: The Prisoner (2019)
EP 6 is one of the greatest Star Wars production....EVER.
What a production! Great characters who should be spun off into their own series. Great action. Suspense. CGI. EFX. Music. Everything about this EP is what Star Wars is all about. Easily the best ep of the series so far.
Cool too because last weeks ep is THEE worst of the season (directed by an animator). So happy this show has come back! Please allow this director to direct more!
The Mandalorian: Chapter 5: The Gunslinger (2019)
Love the series, HATED this episode. Jake Cannavale should get a RAZZY
Up to now, this series has been great. I waited every week to see where this would go.
This ep was nothing but FILLER. Filled with bad logic (leave the baby Yoda alone like that?), bad acting by Jake Cannavale, who deserves a RAZZY award. Is he reading Q cards? Just poorly paced. Bad dialogue. And I see the director directed the animated version of Star Wars content, so, I get why this episode is the weakest and most insipid of the bunch. And baby Yoda is merely a prop.
Boy I hope it get back on track next week. But I have to say, please Jon Fav, don't allow this to happen. the director. Writer. And get this show back on track or you will lose your audience. I only added a star because the light cycles were cool and baby yoda still warms my heart.
IGN gave it a 5.5 (MEDIOCRE). Not the only one giving GUNSLINGER a horrible review.
Hereditary (2018)
A highly overrated VERY slow burn movie
Went because I like A24 films and horror. Though A24 has burned us before with the very meh IT COMES AT NIGHT. Heredity is well made, well acted, but my lord, the pacing. Wayyyy too slow. 20 minutes too long. Do not get the 94% RT score. 79-80 tops.
No way in hell this is the next generation in horror. Seen this movie before and never really scared at all. The Exorcist is the greatest horror of all time. This movie doesnt come close. Sundance over-hype.
Historia de un clan (2015)
One of the greatest binge worthy series Netflix has to off
I was presented this show by a friend who loves great slow-burn character shows like True Detective, Breaking Bad. I began watching this and, could not stop watching all 11 episodes. It's just amazing writing, acting, directing, that sucks you in an blows you away.
I am so depressed this series only has 300+ votes. This show is as great as the greatest series on television and anyone who loves binge worth television will love every moment as this intense show.
