Great Episode
17 October 2009
I really like this episode because it reminded me of the old Stargate, the 'why so serious?'-Stargate. The characters are finally evolving and the actors who play them are getting more accustomed to their roles.

The story itself wasn't great, but it didn't have to be seeing as this was more the sort of episode which revolved around characterevolution. The awesome things: - The discovery of a shower - Eli walking around with the akeeba - Getting the hang of the shuttle (hope to see that soon) - The fact that the spaceship (unlike other spaceship) really seemed to go incredibly fast through the gasgiant - People finally seem to be enjoying themselves The lesser things: - What ever happened to confidentiality? - Why is nobody sending Carter up to the ship to help? - How come there is only one shower?

As a last note and I hope the writers are reading this: Could they please just miraculously fix the ship, I want to see the technology on board. Thank you, Arcadius

Third time ain't the charm
10 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to seeing this episode because I had hoped they'd explore the ancient ship some more. Unfortunately this was not the case and instead of making themselves busy with ancient technology they decided to go to a desert.

This isn't a bad episode but it just doesn't live up to it's potential, it's more the sort of episode you'd see somewhere mid-series and not at the very beginning. Also the underlying story of Mathew Scott dealing with his childhood sorrows was completely redundant. It's a facet to stargate I hope not see again.

What happened to the happy go lucky stargatebunch.

My advice to the writers is to tone it down, throw some humor into it, choose your serious characters (e.g. Dr. Rush) and let the rest just enjoy themselves like the original SG-1

The first step to a new saga
4 October 2009
It was a slow start for this new Stargate-saga. Even though this first episode of SGU wasn't all I had expected it to be, I still liked it. I think the writers and actors have to grow accustomed to the characters in order for the characters to be more vivid. Remember, SG1 and Atlantis were also quite bad when they first started.

Even though this Stargate was planned to be more serious than the others I love the fact that they wrote in the character Eli, who is a very likable and funny character. Also Dr. Nicholas Rush is a very intriguing persona who is in his own way the logical and rational mind on board the starship Destiny. These characters will evolve to be great Stargate characters as always. BTW I love the ship (can't wait to see what weapons it has) Give it time and this will be a truly awesome show.
