The Bear: Review (2022)
Great episode but weak character development
My only complaint with the episode is that, Sydney is the one who absolutely f'd up and some how she's the victim after? Idk how I'm suppose to feel sorry for her when she's the one who's the main reason for the circus show that we witnessed. Then she quits? Id never hire her back. If she f'd up, owned up to it... more respect and I'd be more willing to listen to her. But I'd never hire her after quitting. You f up and can't handle someone yelling at you for your f up? Take responsibility or walk out. The episode was good other than that aspect of it. They act as though she's the victim somehow.
What If...?: What If... Kahhori Reshaped the World? (2023)
Boring is putting it mildly.
Halfway through the episode and Im just waiting for something to happen. Horribly paced episode that honestly doesn't do much. I thought since its got a new character and all new story, something interesting would happen. Sadly it's just a boring episode. Just your typical Mary Sue episode, where a woman who's had the least amount of time, can some how run circles around those who have been there for who knows how long. And ofcourse everyone has to do her bidding because "reasons" and the whole concept of how she gets her powers is so ridiculous. It's a comic book show, I get it, but this episode requires you to basically turn your brain and accept lazy writing. Not a bad episode, but not the strongest.
Lucifer: A Lot Dirtier Than That (2021)
A over politicized episode
The police force represented in this show is unjust to say the least. The fact that they show the police show up on site and just immediately start pointing guns and giving orders to shoot an unarmed person, shows they have no idea about police training etc.comment the female officer made about 1000s of unjust shootings by cops is an over exaggerated statement. This is simply pandering to progressives and fear mongers that cops are bad. The writers are simpletons to simply to throw out this narrative. The daughter/father dynamic in this episode is also moronic in the sense that, Lucifer is clearly trying to make up for something he had nothing to do. But yet, his daughter just craps on him. Bad writing.
Station 19: Get Up, Stand Up (2021)
Horrible logic
Jack had a hard life growing up, but because he's white, well he's privileged, therefore that means anything he went through in life is voided. Everyone non black walks on eggshells to not upset the black characters. Gotta wear those kid gloves. I get it's based around reality, certain things they mention such as the Asian community being attacked, were being done primarily by African Americans. Why leave out that info? Kid gloves. It's horribly written. Well acted for sure. But it's an episode written specifically to preach. Maybe the writers thought they could get more viewers if they virtues signaled the story.
The Woman King (2022)
"Based on true events" is one way to describe this film...
When you look past the fact that the dohemy were responsible for slavery and were easily wiped out, and when I say easily wiped out, that's being kind, by French soldiers. That's likes making a movie about the confederate side in civil war and painting them in a positive while ignoring the whole slavery aspect. Not only did they lose in long range attacks, but also in hand to hand combat. So yeah, once you over look the inaccuracies, it's not a terrible film. Action in this film is great if you you don't understand simple physics or you over look it. The choreography is on par with great action films like John wick. Viola as always brings her A game. I just thought it was odd that she compared this film to a superhero film and already blaming people who don't see it, essentially hateful towards black women. Not worth the viewing in theaters just wait till it's available on streaming services.
Halo (2022)
Seems like the creators of the show, didn't look too far into the rich source material of the Halo series...
The show started off promising but slowly and gradually, became mediocre. One of the running gags from the game series is, you never see Master Chiefs face. (They'll usually pan away right as theyre about show his face) 1st episode, he takes off his helmet and shows his face. Not really a huge complaint, but it's little details like that, that take away from the source. TV show was probably not the best format for Halo. 2 episode in, and I'm seeing scenes that don't need to be present. Certain characters are merely there to fill a quota. Ultimately, the Halo series for the most part, revolves around the Master Chief. You wouldn't know that if you went into that show with no knowledge of the source material, as MC is basically present in the show for 1/3 of it. They turned side characters from the game into main characters in the show, essentially. Some of the effects and suits etc, look amateurish. Some cgi is also, poorly made. But it's not all bad. Some of the acting is decent. The actor Pablo who portrays MC, gets the mannerisms of the chief down well. Even the tone is decent, although he does talk significantly more in the show than the game series. I hope they can learn from their mistakes and correct them if they get a 2nd season. I'll give the show a chance, but the games are far better.
Encanto (2021)
Unoriginal/ripoff
It's kid friendly and the characters are interesting so kids should love it. But I can't help to notice the concept of the story (one family member full of people with powers, shows no signs of powers) has been used several times. Specifically by Disney: Up Up and Away & Sky High. Take into account that the set up of super powered beings all live together as a community like the X-men or Doom Patrol etc.
Shameless: Down Like the Titanic (2018)
Have we forgotten that Fiona has cheated...
The whole episode is pretty good. Some good side stories for side characters. But the glaring problem with the episode is with Fiona. Spoilers* it's revealed that ford has a wife and therefor cheating on Fiona. Debbie takes revenge into her own hands and kidnaps and ties down ford into a pillory. Are the writers expecting the viewers to forget Fiona basically cheated on almost every bf she's ever had since the beginning of the show?
Arrow: Star City 2040 (2019)
A dull episode
This episode relies more on the concept of the future heroes. Most of the heroes from the future can not act especially for the actress who portrays Mia. It's a dull episode due to bad acting and lazy writing. I only watched the whole episode in hoping it pays off for the rest of the season.
Gears 5 (2019)
Great game but story elements are a no go.
I wanna be clear, I'm only a couple hrs into the campaign. The game play is as great as its ever been. A lot of love went into making this game. Story wise, I wish I could say the same. In gears 4, were introduced to these characters. Minor spoilers* JD was set up as the character to usher in next wave of series. Being a guy who went above and beyond to help settlements and others above himself. But in this game, they completely undo what they set up by making him something else. So far it reminds me of the new Star Wars and Luke skywalker. A character well established in being a hero, then being shown to go against his beliefs and essentially being a not so good guy. I'm hoping the further I progress into the game, they'll show more and explain things. If so, I'll change my review. But so far, story wise it's just story. Everything else is great.
Letterkenny: The Three Wise Men (2018)
Good episode but...
Part of the episode is the characters deconstructing old Xmas movies. They mention how the 1964 Rudolph, was filled with negative plots like racism etc. But if the characters actually watched the whole film, they'd realize that they address these issues at the end of the film and explain how hating others for how they appear, is wrong. But to be fair, it's not a bad episode. It's essentially talks about family, friends and keeping alive traditions.
The Flash: Snow Pack (2019)
Iris continues to show why she is disliked
Almost every episode this season, iris becomes less likable. She Makes dumb decisions then tries to call out people for making decisions on their own. Then gets upset when she's called out on her own bs. The character is either doing something dumb or written poorly. The rest of the episode was mediocre.
Supergirl: Bunker Hill (2018)
It's hard to take this show serious sometimes...
You know it's a bad a show, when you start to side with the bad guy more than the hero. We've seen countless times of supergirl making a mess of justice to suit her own agenda. For someone who tries to uphold the law, she breaks a lot of rules to do so. This show continues to make dumb decisions with the story or the characters. The show is more worried about checking the boxes and virtue signaling than actually writing a good show. This is its 4th season and it gets worse each episode. Every so often I see a decent episode but it's so few and far between, it's rare. Maybe if the show wasn't constantly throwing every political issue down the viewers throat, it wouldn't be such a bad show.
Supergirl: Not Kansas (2018)
It's a toss up.
Supergirl show is the poster child of pushing agendas. Just about every episode in some kind of agenda but this one was so obvious. Jimmy decides that no one really needs a gun and if you do, then you're the problem. Going so far that he wanted to blame the manufacturers who designed the gun in the crime that was committed.
This show didn't even attempt at trying to counter point this. The show was basically "guns bad". It fails to realize that guns are a right. I'm not a huge gun nut, but it's my right to own one and I'm sorry but I'm just not gonna give up my right.
At times, the show can be good. But it's hard to see when almost every episode is pushing a left agenda. Men are sexist, whites people are racist, you're wrong if you don't support aliens, etc This show has basically fell into tokenism.
I will leave with one positive thing about this episode c and that is that they didn't need violence to stop violence. It's a great message to go with but reality unfortunately isn't as pretty as this.
