Fear Street: 1978 (2021)
As good as first. Different style than first.
If you like part one you will like part two. Just like the first this is good enough to be it's own movie. This is more typical of a slasher flick.
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Good if you don't hate the 90's.
Acting was good. Characters were likeable except for those that you were not supposed to like. Some were not suppose to be likeable at first. Story was good. Music fit great.
I'm convinced some people just hate the 90's. Reviewers complained about the amount of music for part one but said the opposite for two. Same amount of music in both. One had 90's music the other had 70's. Some also said two was better. Different styles of horror which was great. The styles fit the horror trend for timeline.
American Horror Stories (2021)
Typical anthology.
First I will explain why it is rated as high as it is. I read a review that said "It was not amazing but..." and that reviewer gave it a 10. If it is not amazing it is not a 10. The ratings are from die hard fans of original series. I'm not one. This was an anthology like all the rest. Sometimes it had jump scares but stories always fall apart. Has potential but never delivers. Even the original series only had 3 or 4 good seasons.
Spoiler: At the end of murder house they were all magically friends. No reason behind the turn around on that.
The Walking Dead: Diverged (2021)
I gave it 2 stars because I really love TWD. Really it's a 1 star
This is a webisode that should be condensed down to 10 - 15 minutes. The people rating this a 10 should never give a review. It is garbage. I get bonus episode and Covid. They still made this as an episode not a webisode.
"Splinter" was bad but this was by far worse. There is zeros tory or character development. I f this episode existed or did not exist it would not matter to the series. Wait, did I just described a webisode? To make it worse extremely boring as the writers were too lazy to think they should be creative because we would all just love anything TWD. I thought I would love anything TWD but I was wrong.
The Stand (2020)
To rate this 1-3 stars is ridiculous. I read the book and saw original multiple times.
There is a few things horribly done but overall a good watch. I have read the book and watched the original several times. This is not as good as the original but still good. Nothing wrong with special effects but nothing great with it either.
The worst part of the series is the timeline jumping around at random points. It starts in the middle and sometimes jumps to the past but they never really fully connect the time. It is almost as if they think you could not retain anything that happened in episode one by the time that you get to episode three. It could also be about labor laws for actors where it is more cost effective to film some actors parts in one day. "It's Alway's Sunny in Philadelphia" will film an actors parts that might be in multiple episodes all during the same week or day (they also don't have the same budget). The only timeline jump that should have been made was young Nadine. The rest was straight garbage. It does hurt character development and attachment to the characters. It also hurts the effects of coming to Colorado and the five chosen.
Most of the acting was good and on par with original. I will comment on the 2 most reviewers did and add the one I think most should have commented on above all. Whoopi not as good as the original. She did alright but not a good choice for the part. She just lacked the all caring mother Abigail feel. Skarsgård is a better Flagg. He is ordinary looking for most of it which I think is right. He is supposed to be enticing and when he needs to be scary it sticks out more. The biggest problem I had was Amber Heard. I get that Nadine and mother Nadine are different and this would have been better than the original. The problem is she did not pull off the Nadine part at all.
Overall a good series to watch. To rate this below three stars is ridiculous. Sharknado has a 3 average. Some people just can't handle remakes.
Road to Red (2018)
The camera man/woman was the only one who did a good job.
The first hour and half should be cut down to 20 minutes. It is just skate, surf and weed clips. The skate and surf clips are not even good. There was maybe 3 tricks done. It really was just garbage. The last 30 minutes we actually have something happening. The last 30 minutes was bad also. No plot. Not scary or exciting. Surprised there was money actually put into the quality of the filming. The camera man was the only one who did a good job. If you decide to watch just skip the first hour.
