Sex scenes, pornography, weirdness, bizarre, craziness, least of love more of passion could be interpreted as a ''lame piece of s.... omething'' by those who doesn't know an L of Lars Von Trier.

But for those who are already familiar, after watching this piece of art would be awarded with probably the most weirdest but one of the most complete masterpieces ever made.

One of those movies which could repel you as far as possible or can make you an addict.

I couldn't be more happier to believe that I really understood the story, the big picture and the irony.

Hail Lars Von Trier, the great master!!!

What a stupid 3rd season!! :(
13 January 2014
First two seasons made me rate the series 10 which I do very rarely. But the third season made me so disappointed.

I don't even remember why I rated 10.

Very confusing speeches, lines and scenes just for some stupid blown up story...

I'm very very disappointed. All of this effort could be concentrated in much better way than ending up with 'did you miss me' of Moriarty.

Hope next season will be more watchable than this one. Otherwise this will be the most wasted series ever in my opinion.

Do you hear me Steven Moffat?

True masterpiece!
22 April 2012
Yes we were already familiar with exceptional Japanese art-piece animations such as ghost in the shell, ponyo, spirited away... Paprika is no exception... Except when the talk is about the dreams and dreaming yet again Japanese director's innovative and original way of thinking yielded another masterpiece that I regret that I watched so late... how could I miss it? Paprika should also be exceptionally mentioned and applauded as it provided a very best core for the Inception movie... Not that Inception became less valuable after I watched paprika (Inception is still my favorite of all time) but instead my respect to Paprika grew even more... I strongly advise Paprika to those who like strange, confusing and mysterious novels... Only one thing I regret about this movies is even it's in adequate length for a regular animation I'm still hungry and crave for more... It was an exceptional experience

A rare piece of gem!!!
12 May 2011
I just wonder what could make me watch the 2 hrs long movie at 3:30 am?..

I don't like the movies regarding the middle eastern wars at all.. That is how I thought before watching this one... I just gave it a chance... And wasn't intending to finish it... Just wondered why this movie has been rated 8.2...

It's a quite long movie actually but you don't feel and don't complain while you watch till the end... slow pace is easily adapted and even makes you ask for more...

The movie contains many flashbacks which at first looks like a historical review of situation of those days... But then you realize the real mastery in telling the story in front of that strong historical background... The flashbacks and the real time connected by the end of the movie in such way that feels like there's no other way to understand and really ''feel'' the movie...

The story itself is not comparable to any other one... at least I haven't watched a movie with such a strong and different scenario... very very powerful movie...

This movie deserves applause and all kinds of rewards...

I strongly advise this movie to everyone over 16 yrs old... as it is not a ''feel good'' or a ''have fun time with family'' movie... just a very very good piece of art... a master's work...

I'm very very happy that I watched it!!!

Wow!

Warning: Spoilers
Shortly... this is probably the most unexpected masterpiece I have seen in a while...

Talking about revenge looks like spoiling the movie but I guess many of those who watched it ended up like ''Maaannn...Revenge??!!!''...

Of course there are always some tiny points to be improved in the movie but I can easily say that this is the real real masterpiece...

First of all you see the difference in the directing when the movie just starts... just the first scenes tells that this movie is no ordinary one... and of course the sequel comes...

The most brilliant directing since a long time...

The only detail for me to be improved was that younger lead actors could do a bit better in making us feel their real emotions during the movie... it is a very tiny detail when compared to the story, directing and the rest of the movie but still made me expect even more... But we should also understand that building the movie on three unexperienced teenagers is a great risk... I think overall they acted brilliantly... but a bit bit more genuine acting (especially by the end) would polish this movie ... That's the only reason I'm giving 9 points to a definitely 10 point movie!!!

Lastly this is no horror movie but a perfect thriller!.. (under 15 restriction is acceptable)

Watch this movie and be amazed!...

Don't mind the negativists... Just watch and enjoy and die from laughing...
3 May 2011
There are some bad critics about the serial but it's not bad at all...

I should confess that it was beyond all of my expectations...

Been a really while since I laughed and enjoyed a movie this much...

Of course scenario contains some signs of meet the parents but it's just a more advanced and prolonged version... Basically a guy meet's girls family story but contains many many original moments... which I think should be respected... but beyond this it's already a nice serial...

Not a masterpiece but I a very very good serial to spend nice time...

I'd advise it to all who haven't enjoy a comedy and haven't laugh so much since a long time like me...

Just watch it and you'll not loose anything... you'll just have fun!..

You should lower your expectations..
30 April 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Recently watched the movie and unfortunately unsatisfied...

I was expecting something more original than some gore scenes which were effective in fact but far from astonishing especially during the battle scenes...

For me the most annoying thing in the movie was pointlessly long final battle scene... Seemed like Shogun's samurai were not 200 but 500...

And I was expecting to see the sadistic brother of shogun in fight but he barely used a sword during the whole movie...

Overall the movie has some master's touch but very difficult to believe that it's totally a master's work...

One of the best so far...
11 January 2011
This serial is a new breath for Turkish television...

On the first glance there might be some apparent cliché episodes but the story goes deeper and deeper... It may not have the best TV serial scenario but the perfect cast what makes you stick to the screen on behalf outstanding and realistic performances.

I'd like to mention especially about Mete (Aras Bulut İynemli). I bet he'll be a very famous and successful actor in the future. The way he acts makes me have shivers... Everybody performs very very well and it's more than I expected... But I would not pass without mentioning little Osman (Emir Berke Zincidi)... He is only 6 years old... Actually whole story is told through his eyes in 1960's Istanbul... So smart and very very very lovely...

The background music picked up very successfully...

Overall this TV serial deserves watching... And it seems that new stars are about to be born...

Congratulations to producers, director and most of all the cast...

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful...
7 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Don't even know where to begin...

It would be easier to make you watch by only saying ''go and watch this movie!''...

This movie is about a glimpse on an actually ''long long life'' and the beauty in it...

I could just sit and type the sentences about how dramatic or moving it was or how perfect the actors performed... But instead I would like to share only my feelings... and particularly this one: I don't remember a movie making me cry and smile at the same time... really...

This movie shows all of the feelings, emotions and episodes of life in it's natural way... the director I guess made a perfect copy of life and shared with us... While not many could deliver something like this one... those who just lost in the Hollywood cinema...

This movie is the best life movie I have watched since Nuovo Cinema Paradiso and Candida...

And what a hidden scene!!: Want some peanut?... No thanks I have one!!! Hahahaha! :DDD

I would advise it to every person over 30'ies... To understand the movie better...

Again and again.. A very beautiful movie!!!..

What a beautiful movie!!!
13 June 2010
I'm very surprised that such a beautiful movie is so much underrated...

Why I'm calling it beautiful because it shows the life from the view of a beautiful person and mother...

I bet you've never watched such a well directed movie with such magnificent acting since ''driving miss daisy'' or ''fried green tomatoes ''...

Ypu just sit and wonder how would my life be if I was Candida...

It's a very good comedy as much as a very good drama it is...

You have to watch it... Don't miss it...

definitely 10/10

Documentary from a director who is not interested in folk music at all!...
14 March 2010
Are you kidding me!.. Thanks god he was interested in western or alternative or instrumental or electronic music... On which behalf he produced something that will remain in our minds and especially on my shelf...

As one of the most ancient worlds of human history folk music in the lands of Anatolia shares a huge spectrum of religions, cultures, languages, musical instruments, songs and voices...

In this film you will witness how the songs that seem to be very difficultly interpreted and comprehended by our brains were transferred into joyful musical festival...

It doesn't matter what color you are or what language you are speaking you will definitely like those masterpieces... even if you don't understand the language you will be moved or excited as you listen different ''cries'' or let it be songs in general way of understanding...

Highly recommended... Don't miss...

If I was a writer I could write a book about this movie!
22 February 2010
I wouldn't rate that movie 10 just because it's not for all kind of people's humor... It's different...

Darko productions sign appears just at the beginning and as you watch the movie you unwillingly incline towards Donnie Darko... But the script little bit differs in it's weighed and balanced humor which made me wonder the rest of the movie...

The acting is very very good... everyone in the movie does his/her job pretty well... Even the Bruce Hornsby... There's some absurd humor about him, but let me tell you the soundtrack is not bad at all even for an electronic music listener like me...

Completely unpredictable and exciting movie... the kind that I wouldn't expect from Robin Williams...

I can even confess that I'm not a fan of dark humor but I'm very happy that I watched that movie which will always remain in one far corner of my memory forever...

And let me tell you: It's very difficult to satisfy my grandma with unusual movies like this one, but even she liked it!.. :)

You won't regret, believe me...

So so...
31 January 2010
I watched this movie yesterday... I'm a Mel Gibson fan and I wasn't expecting much but at least a movie comparable to Payback or Conspiracy Theory...

The movie started with a shocking scene which at the same time attracted the audience and made me more concentrated... After a while I noticed that I'm stretched too much and exhausted of waiting for something exciting or thrilling but there was nothing... Only another somewhat predictable shocking scene after a while...

I was expecting a smart story that connects the parts in a better and more perceptible way but I found myself thinking about: not what will happen next but why they put the story in that way, there could be better ways... That is the story is good but not well connected... Lacks the pace...

So in brief even Mel Gibson is as usual the directing was not satisfactory... Could be another masterpiece in someone else's hands...

Maximum 6 or 7 out of 10 for me...

Nice movie to watch on TV but not that much exciting...
1 January 2010
I wondered why I haven't seen that movie before... Because we are very familiar with movies with leading actors... Prestige or illusionist... Except those are much better and exciting as it is difficult to predict anything in the movie... That's why I think they are one of it's kind somewhat unique movies...

This movie is about 100 minutes long but I felt like 2 hours or more... Because there is story going on but it's not very successful in catching the audience...

The character of Rachel Weisz (Penelope) was the most interesting one... I wish there was more about her skills in the movie because her abilities and specificities as a character were the most exceptional and unique parts of the movie...

We see the big brother in the beginning as a cool and promising image, the brain of their smuggler team... But during the movie and especially at the end of the first con on Penelope he was very passive and he lost lots of credits as he is just about to fail during the play of the con and actually fails in the end... That made the character and the movie look very soft... disappointing for me... After all I thought that the character is not cool at all... Thus less excitement...

Oh and there was that Diamond Dog, appearing for 1-2 minutes during the movie but the end of movie was based mainly on him... where I was expecting some scenes that involves him too as a leading bad character but we can't see even his face in the end... Not even sure that the actor was the same one...

this movie could be one of the best in right hands... Not very satisfactory but not that bad... Despite all the shortcomings you can watch this movie on DVD and spend nice evening time with your family...

7 from 6.5... :)

It's like Annie Hall, Except Annie Hall was much better...
1 January 2010
I'm disappointed somewhat...

The dialogs go on and on during the whole movie... Yes I understand that it's a Woody Allen movie but it's not that original neither among his best jobs...

Actually I was disappointed since the first scene where the leading actor (Who acts brilliant actually) starts to talk to audience... And this was repeated during the movie several times... Could be original but very unnecessary I think...

After the first 45 minutes I was that much bored that I skipped the scenes in fast forward and still got the idea and the message of the movie... I'm not that patient person and that much passionate to finish even I'm bored...

really not a kind of movie to sit and watch for a fun time... I believe you would like to watch this movie only for the Woody Allen update, then you can be proud as fans that you didn't miss anyone despite it's 'not good enough' one...

6 points unfortunately

Brutal!!!...
29 December 2009
To say the truth I was expecting something funnier... Not that the movie was bad or something, It just haunted me...

Colin Farrell was at his best... He is just good!... The dialogs resembled Tarantino's or Guy Richie's scripts... But they were original actually...

And what about the Bruges? ''It's a fairy tale city!''...

For those who are looking for a feel good movie this is not the case... Go for something with Luke Wilson or Jim Carrey...

This movie is totally brutal!... It hurts in the end...

How could a movie without any effects be one of the best (probably the best) science fiction movies you can ever watch!...
25 December 2009
The story goes in a room...

Only one single room...

And... It's the best science fiction I've ever watched...

Interesting isn't it?... :) Not even a one tiniest smallest piece of visual effect...

10+ for the story and pure and simple acting...

Just watch it and see it yourself...

Caveman's interesting story will haunt your minds! And let me tell you... In the end you'll feel really weird!!.

Just watch it it people! No more words...

Don't decide until you watch it yourself!... You'll like Toruk Macto!... But..
25 December 2009
In brief this movie deserves 10+ for the efforts in putting together unbelievable movie full of visual effects... The best effects ever... Yet they were not that natural in some parts (Especially l hated that Sigourney's smile, while she was a Na'vi... very disappointing!...)

On the other hand due to some clichés and lack of originality in the story (which makes the movie totally predictable which is somewhat disappointing too) it is like watching 3D documentary on IMAX... I suggest you to watch Luc Besson's ''Home''... visually unbelievable too except all of it is real!...

So the story deserves less than 8 in my opinion... If you put the facts together this could be the best movie produced in recent years yet it's definitely not comparable to Lord of The Rings though... They should've worked one the story more... I just don't believe that in whole 3 hours I watched a story which I could tell my friends in 5 minutes...

If you ask me if I liked the movie, Yes I did indeed... (if not complaining of tired eyes due to my first real 3D experience)... still there were many reasons to cut some points...

You'll definitely watch it in the end... You'll like Toruk Macto!... But I had to share my opinion and tell the truth...

Wish you a nice time at cinema...

The movie that finally forced me to write my first comment in IMDb... Must see!
27 October 2009
This movie is based on a an event of incursion of the small military stationery located at the top of the Mountains in Semdinli (Southeastern border of Turkey) by a PKK terrorist group in 1993. Despite of being a Azeri Turk, I tried to watch and discuss this movie objectively. Why this movie deserves to be watched? Because: This is a unique Turkish movie that incorporated humor, grief, reality, originality, art and most of all simplicity in performance.

The acting was pure and simple much like as an original Turkish soldier. A bunch of soldiers from different regions of Turkey connected in a quest. None of them actors were celebrities in real life. Made an impression that I would see and do the same things and have the same conversations if I were in military in some other place. I think nothing is exaggerated in the story and it has an objective opinion on the terrorism but explains it from the Turkish side of view. I've never seen such a pure and simple acting that made me feel in their shoes. The 'calling home' part of the movie is one of the greatest parts. In those couple of minutes I realized that it could be me, my friend (who is a doctor and made his military duty at the same region) or my relative. Don't know how other people would feel but every single Turk watching this movie will see a part of themselves in those soldiers' life. The director is very very successful in transmitting the atmosphere and he deserves a special mention for mastery in simplifying that movie which seems to be actually complicated in it's nature.

The artistic scenery especially from a photographic view is another thing that made me feel proud and happy as a photographer.

The music at the background successfully synchronized with the events and moods during the entire movie.

Finally, the movie is named as 'Nefes' which stands for 'the breath' and is explained in such a conversation that touched me deeply: 'In the fight what matters is breath: whether you 'take' it or 'give' at the end!'...

I'd advise anyone to watch this movie... You'll definitely like the cinematography, directing, acting and most of all this is one of the best achievements in Turkish cinema in my opinion...

Watch it!
