Hereafter (2010)
How films should be made!
I really enjoyed this. Well written, Well acted and very well directed. The film was subtle and understated throughout, making the storyline very believable. The main characters are likable and believable and react in a manner you would expect in the situations they come across. The three main characters also have their stories brought together in a convincing way. The themes of death and the after life may put the more cynical viewer off, but I think they are treated in an open-minded way. A really nice study of how death affects different people in different ways. A warning, though, this is rather a sad film and NOT to be watched if you're at a low ebb. Enjoy!
Fall Down Dead (2007)
Terrible..
... truly terrible. Poor acting. Poor story. Unrealistic characters. I gave up about 3/4 of the way through the film. None of the characters seem to be like real people. None of them have realistic reactions to the situations that are thrown at them, therefore no suspense is created. The policeman who finds the janitor dead, then finds the cleaner and is more interested in chatting her up, than getting his gun out and protecting them. Why would the armed police lock themselves in the building, rather than getting outside and calling for help? How can the main female lead fight off the murderer, when he seems indestructible, later in the film? I'm truly surprised that a quality actor like Udo Kier stooped so low as to make this. This should have been straight to video - reduced bin. Don't bother.
