Blowback (2022)
Gigandent is too good for this
Ok
The bad
Both Randy Couture and Louis Mandylor are awful actors, I'm not sure when it became essential that if you are good in the UFC you automatically are made a movie star, Holloway, Rousey, Couture and Bisping to name a few, Both of the above should be in hallmark movies, if any, they are not even B actors
The Good
To say this is a direct to streaming B movie, the overall story and premise are good, I quite enjoyed the movie and to say that it's cheap and cheerful with uncostly supporting cast I think that says a lot
The Brilliant
Cam Gigandet
He is given the lead role in a cheap B movie and is absolutely head and shoulders above the rest, regardless of how much he was paid he has given his best and shows that he should be in more A movies, he takes what he is given and makes it a stellar performance, i couldn't believe how impressive he was and he should now have put himself in the shop window as a bankable asset to any movie, look no further if you want someone who will put their heart and soul into any role they are given.
This movie doesht deserve him, so the fact he gave such a good showing should propel him into more lucrative roles
However I feer it won't as this will go under the radar.
Hard Cell (2022)
If you turned it off ......
You missed out
Can't give anything away but I enjoyed the story, I laughed and stuck with it and the pay off .... Well, you know if you saw it
Love Catherine Tate and this didn't disappoint me.
Bad reviewers, oh dear, Unlucky.
The Making of Rocky vs. Drago by Sylvester Stallone (2021)
Brilliant, Sly shows his genius
Sly clearly wasn't happy with the original cut of Rocky IV, so now he has permission to cut it his way, as was originally intended, this documentary shows Stallone reflecting on the original movie and how he's going to make it better, sone fantastic insight and so interesting, Sly showing he just has a gift for tweaking the smallest scenes to make them better, a must watch before or even after you have seen the new Rocky IV directors cut
Rocky v Drago reimagined.
Clarkson's Farm (2021)
Fantastic
A real eye opener, I had no idea that the farmers worked this hard and I certainly shed a tear or two over the poor lamb and Wayne Rooney.
Girl in the Basement (2021)
As good as "Room" but much cheaper
I was always familiar with the Fritzl story so I knew what to expect when I began to watch
I'm not really a fan of Hallmark movies, to be honest I don't know why they bother most if the time
But this I watched because I saw a review and knew what to expect with the subject matter
I was very surprised, I thought the emotion and sorrow in this movie was perfect
Scott was terrific as the daughter and Nelson just as good as the father
The ending is a huge sigh of relief even though we know how the real story ended
Well done to Rohm who was also great in "Angel" for a great directors effort
Tough subject matter and some scenes are not comfortable but they don't go too graphic, I've seen much much worse, if you have seen "Irreversible" this is a picnic
Very well done and if there are other Hallmark movies as good as this I might watch another or 2
Rocky III (1982)
The greatest movie ever made
That's it, I had to say it, it has to be said, it's my opinion and that's what I'm giving here, I have watched this movie thousands of times, it must be thousands by now, surely over a thousand, I watch it often and never ever get tired of a single scene, the joy, the emotion, the sadness, the happiness, the failure, the triumph, the bonding, the loss, it has absolutely everything and takes you through every emotion in 1h 38m, not a single movie I have ever seen has ever come close to this and I am up to nearly 3000 ratings on here, I love this movie, with all my heart and soul, it is absolutely sensational and everyone acts to perfection
Kingdom (2014)
The best tv drama ever made ...... Really
There are not enough superlatives to use to describe how amazing and brilliant this show is
It's a shame that some shows get season upon season and don't have half the genius this show has, why it was ended I'll never know
The best tv drama I've ever seen
The best tv drama ever to be on Netflix
Really, it's that good
Awesome, incredible, wonderful, genius
Loved every second of every episode
Thank you to all the creators, actors and writers for this perfect piece of entertainment
10/10 doesn't do it justice, it's the best thing ever 👊👊
Her (2013)
Recycle Bin is for Trash
Having sex with an operating system
Crying over an operation system
Jealous of an operating system
Pining over an operating system
Good lord, this movie is terrible
What on Earth is this movie trying to say
Don't fall in love with an operating system
I hope I don't fall in love with Siri or Alexa
Need to be on my guard and keep my distance
Villain (2020)
Craig Fairbrass goes up and up on my estimation.
That was quite brilliant, I absolutely loved it, Great pacing, Lovely lighting, Nice change in tone from Pat Tate, Eddie Trying to be pleasant, bar bill scene was perfect,
Never heard anyone speak to a Fairbrass character that way
Brilliant Story arc knowing that revenge is coming, Watching Eddie slowly break and unravel after being pushed and pushed, Great character development with plenty of depth,
Simple, straightforward, engaging
The first reveal I couldn't believe it, what a great twist, loved the slow camera pan out for the "reveal"
The ending OMFG 😮
Incredible performance, up the with the career best top 5 👏👏
Rise of the Footsoldier 4: Marbella (2019)
The boys are back!!
"So what has it got to do with you nose ointment"
Big bad "Yetti" Pat Tate is back, and Craig Fairbrass Along with his terrific co stars, Terry Stone (Tucker) and Roland Manookian (Rolfe) have made these roles their own, They continue where we left off from ROTF3 as big and bad as ever, filled with brilliant one liners, comedy and as always gritty violence these movies just get better, I really hope we get more of these, sure we all know the characters ultimate demise but with the way these characters have captured audiences I hope that we get more instalments, absolutely terrific movie with stellar performances, as we have come to expect
8/10
The Fanatic (2019)
A story not far from the truth
No, I'm not an executive writing reviews to get high ratings
This movie I low budget, yes, Travokta should be doing bigger projects, yes
But this is real life, there are people like this in the world, fans who think they are the be all and end all, who can't understand where the actor stops the the person begins
Actors have to worry about this kind of stuff everyday and Travolta is absolutely terrific at playing this role, he just gets it, he knows what it's like to have this as an everyday concern, the versatility of Travolta is exceptional as he just transforms into the movie fan weirdo effortlessly
There are no lengths a fan won't go to and no boundaries they are not willing to break, they think they know the actor personally through the movies and they think the actors feel the same way
This is a true depiction of something that could happen very easily and why celebrities pay a fortune for security personnel and home security
Travolta doesn't care about how he looks, he doesn't care about opinions, here he does everything he can to portray the lunatic on screen
Also with a little twist at the end makes this really enjoyable
Travolta has had his recent run of bad movies, no doubt this will be another, and from a really true fan I agree with the previous films, they haven't been great, but this one, is definitely worth the watch, just for the great portrayal of the subject matter
Will you find better movies to to watch? yes plenty
Will you find worse movies to watch?, billions and billions
Trading Paint (2019)
It's not bad, it's not great
Look, I'm a huge Travolta fan, I think he is one of the best and most versatile actors in the world.
It disappoints me that his career is recently low budget movies, I wasn't a fan of Gotti or Speed Kills but this I preferred over those.
Not to say this is a great movie, it's not, but it's average.
The story is ok and interesting enough, John is terrific as always and does his best with what he has to work with, the ending is absurd, I won't spoil the movie but the ending just spoils it for me, like I said the movie through out is fine and doesn't get too boring, but the ending was unfortunately a little to silly just to get the heroic finale
As title says, it's not bad but it's not great
I have seen much much worse, if you are not a Travolta fan you might think it's bad, I'm a huge fan so maybe though bias i gave it 6/10 which I think is fair
The Karate Kid Part III (1989)
It's one of those guilty pleasures
I love this movie, many don't, hell even Macchio himself doesn't, but I do
Terry Silver is one of my favourite all time villains, up there with Castor Troy and Clubber Lang, Thomas Ian Griffiths terrific performance is highly underrated
The turn of Daniel on Miyagi was shocking to me when I saw it in the theatres, also I have never seen a protagonist get beat constantly throughout a movie without any reply at all, Mike was superbly played by Sean Kanan
I accept I'm in the minority but this movie was a fantastic ending to the series
I just need Terry and Mike in Cobra Kai
Then I will be a very happy man
Staying Alive (1983)
A personal favourite
I can't say enough good things about this movie, sure as a follow up to Saturday Night Fever it falls short, but who cares, I have always watched it as a stand alone movie and it's sensational, the music is amazingly catchy, the bee gees songs are all excellent, Travolta is terrific and in incredible shape, he shows why he's an outstanding dancer and his two leading ladies Cynthia Rhodes and Finola Hughes are perfect in every way, in fact I think I'm off to watch it again right now, I adore it
Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018)
Not that bad
SPOILER FREE
Well, this movie was much better than I expected
Most of the news I had heard was starting to make this movie would be poor, but it's far from poor
I enjoyed it much more than I expected to
Sure it's low budget but Sly is in most of the movie, Batista isn't really on the movie at all, even his action scene was very short, he's gets a total screen time of under 10 minutes
Which brings me to the action, lots and lots of it, great fight scenes and although the action is low budget it is very satisfying
Slys presence in the movie gives him the right to have top billing, no he's not the protagonist of the movie that role is the Chinese character (who was also very good btw) but Slys character Breslin is great and Sly makes a lot of his time on screen
There are direct references of the first movie and references to characters in that movie, they have made an effort to link the movies together and did a good job
There are a couple of excellent Saw esque twists in the movie which of them the twist half way through the movie was excellent I was very pleasantly surprised
The music throughout I really enjoyed and gives the movie a great deal of tension
There was a scene at the end which is clearly added for one reason and that is to give Sly a fight scene, I didn't think the movie needed it but it's there anyway and most Sly fans will like it
The ending is a good open book for the third movie and after watching I think you like myself will be looking forward to the 3rd movie as it ends with a decent little cliffhanger (no pun inteded)
Overall I think the people who are not aware of this movie who pick it up because Sly is on the cover will definitely not be disappointed
I also think because of the low expectations on this forum most of you will also be pleasantly surprised at how entertaining the movie is
The prison while a little over the top (no pun) is interesting enough to hold your attention, and this new prison is directly linked to the prison in the first movie
To finish I give the movie 4/10, it is low budget, some characters don't really have much development and some of the tech stories can be a little confusing, never the less it's an enjoyable movie, Sly is great and has his trademark voice and confident attitude, the links to the first movie make a good follow up to the original and I am certainly looking forward to Part III
Rise of the Footsoldier 3 (2017)
Fairbrass Excels
There's very few superlatives you can use for Craig Fairbrass portrayal of Pat Tate It's a huge shame this character can't have more outings with Fairbrass at the helm, ROTF3 is a fantastic addition to the franchise and as a huge fan of these movies I surely hope we get some more, I was very slightly disappointed that Ricci Harnett didn't make a surprise cameo as Carlton Leach but never the less this movie as just as good as I expected it to be. As I said if you are a fan of these movies then you will enjoy this prequel and afterwards no doubt the same as me you want to carry on the story with the first ROTF movie. Terrific performance and work from everyone involved Let's hope they make more this story must have more to tell after the events of ROTF2 My fingers are crossed
