Brokeback Mountain (2005)
Very, Very Surprised by other comments
Before I say what I am about to say, I have to let you know that I am not a biggot or have predijuce. I also sat here and read over 100 comments by other people and was absolutely astounded at what I was reading! I have never seen so many 10/10 reviews, I have watched thousands of films and consider myself to be a very fair critic. However Brokeback Mountain was one of the poorest films I have ever seen, it was so slow and boring and the ending was tragic, however this did not move me at all, I felt no need to cry, the only time I felt like tears was at the end, when I felt I had been robbed of my £3 to rent this movie. I would love to have a conversation with other people about why they felt this movie was so strong, the cinematography besides, which was the best part of the movie, has been bettered in many movies (notably the also very boring but amazingly shot - The New World) and Dances with Wolves.
I had my TV at full volume and I still struggled to hear the drivle coming out of Heath Ledgers mouth, I felt the dialogue was poor and am really starting to question myself when i see so many bad comments, does no one agree with me???????
Walking Tall (2004)
Where you all watching a different film???
I would like to speak to the people that voted this film a ten, surely they understand nothing about A) Acting B) Dialogue C) Plot D) What makes a good film!!! This was one of the worst films I have ever seen, without a doubt, absolutely shocking! The whole idea of The Rock blatantly smashing up a casino and getting away with it because because they cut him up was ridiculous, he still did the crime for f$$K sake!! The crowning moment had to be when they threw him the piece of wood (The evidence!!!) and he went off to become sheriff (sacking all the staff) and then preceded to walk around with a piece of wood and Jonny Knoxville as his partner!! What the F**k was the director thinking??!
There is only one film I have seen worse than this and that is True Friends. Both films were funny because the acting was so bad! Someone owes me money for the time I spent watching this! I even preferred Kangaroo Jack! Do yourself a favour and avoid this movie.
True Friends (1998)
Worst film, ever...
Quite literally put, this was the worst pile of *!@# I have ever seen. What an absoloute joke from start to finish, the sad thing was it was supposed to be serious! I was conned by the cover stating that fans of "Goodfellas" and "Sleepers" would like this, WHY? Cos it was set in NY and thats about it!
If you fancy a laugh get it, the attempts at acting were woeful, the "Cold Turkey" scene was a classic, I personally think my goldfish could have given a more convincing performance!!
I was even duped into a good review by Martin Scorcese (I can only accept and will only accept that this is a different Scorcese to the genius I know of, there's no way he genuinely saw this and then liked it! If he watched it then I bet he would have cringed at how bad an attempt at making a film could get!
Doesn't deserve the rating of 4.1 (last time I looked), anyone that rated this above a 1 then I would love to have a deeper conversation into what if any part of this ridiculous film they feel makes it worth an average rating?
I would also like an explanation from the people that gave this film an award for best movie (WHAT ON EARTH WAS THE SHORT LIST LIKE!!!!!)
Sorry to say it but, pathetic.
Donnie Darko (2001)
Thought provoking, touching and something different!
Truly amazing, I was stunned, this film was so dark yet there was a smile on my face at the end! Tragic and beautiful at the same time, I really loved this movie, anybody that puts it down really didn't understand what was going on, on the other hand you could pick this film apart so much you might end up hating it, or yourself for the in-depth theories that are swirling about in your head.
This is not a movie for everybody BUT if you like films that inspire and don't follow the same typical script then watch it, you'll be presently surprised.
Happy viewing...
