Adaptation. (2002)
Truly excellent film
This is one of the best films I have ever seen. It is unexplainable - and that is part of why it is so good! It is just so realistic that I can't even describe how I felt sitting in the cinema watching it. I love Nicholas Cage in this movie and I have to say he was robbed at all the major award ceremonies. Similarly, why didn't this movie win best screenplay? It was a lot more original and creative than 'Chicago' which was just taken from the stage musical (plus 'Moulin Rouge' was a lot better and came first and Baz Lurhman wasn't even nominated for Best Director- Did those judges even SEE IT? ROBBED! that just goes to show what a big advertising budget can do for a film) Anyway, back to the point. Kaufman's script blew me away. It was honest and I found that I could easily relate to the characters, their insecurities and their struggles. Although a lot of people complained about the ending (the film just changes direction suddenly) I thought it was good. It was, for me, unpredictable and that is rare in movies these days - any days really. While it may be a bit too different for some, this has become one of my favourite movies of all time. I rate it around the 9-10/10 mark. I loved it and when it comes out on DVD here, I am going to buy it! Great cast, great script and just a good overall vibe. SEE IT!
Fight Club (1999)
One of the best movies of all time
This is truly one of the greatest movies ever made. An intelligent film with action and intrigue and two very, very good looking leading men. An excellent plot for thinkers, vivid fight scenes for those who like their films action packed and if you don't see it for anything else, see it for Brad and Edward! See it and be amazed - 10/10
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
Masterpiece
This movie is breathtaking. Lurhmann is a genius. Martin's costume and makeup are stunning. The whole movie screams beauty and imagination and is a complete assult on the senses - an emotional rollercoaster ride: 10/10
Death to Smoochy (2002)
Best Black Comedy!
Why did this film get such bad reviews? I thought it was one of the best black comedies I have seen in a LONG time, perhaps ever. Robin Williams was excellent as Rainbow Randolph, and Norton's "squeaky clean" Mopes was fantastic. It has a clever script that had an entertaining story and excellent visuals. The songs are clever and funny and the colours were bright and vivid. DeVito did an excellent job directing and acting, creating a film that as said is entertaining on all levels that is truly laugh out loud funny. I loved this film! 10/10!!!
Get Ready to Be Boyzvoiced (2000)
Funny film
I saw this film purely by chance one night while flicking channels. I saw the advertisment on SBS so I decided to watch it and boy am I glad it did! The movie was creative and the songs were truly hi-larious. Great film for a good laugh - as long as you don't mind sub-titles.
8/10!
Mulholland Dr. (2001)
Hollywood/Arthouse disaster
This film was stupid! It didn't make any sense. It was a hollywood film trying to be arthouse and intelligent - it just didn't make the cut for me. Impossible to follow with a story that doesn't go anywhere. Would somebody who liked it explain it to me? 1/10 -- I want my money back.
