Great start but looses it
One of the best pilot episode in recent years. I did really enjoy the first episode, really have to say that, in fact it has been such a long time since I felt such intrigued to a series. Tt had those vibe of unknown story line mixed with science and fantasy. However it didn't carry on same excitement throughout the seasons. Yes I will still watch it as I want to learn the answers of where! How! When! Etc. But I wish they used less dreams and hallucinations which made feel series very random and shifted away from its promise. I hope it does not have similar ending disaster of LOST or Game of Thrones.
Crimson Peak (2015)
disappointed
I have to admit I was really looking forward to see this film. even though I am not a big fun of ghost themed stories, I enjoy them eveynow and again, so I thought, OK it's been a good time since I saw really good ghost themed period film with great visuals, so Del toro's film definitely took my attention, and I couldn't wait to see it, so had to dash to the theaters. And now, after seeing the film, all remains with me is just a disappointment with a shock of such talented director's choice over a very empty story line with a poor dialougues. There's no need to mention beautiful visuals, clothing and places in the film, and the atmospheric shots. they are all there as you'd expect them to be from a Del toro's style in film making, but oh my! what a boring , predictable story. it's a very good choice of casting, too. However everything feels like happening in rush. there's nothing proper shown the love development either. Also I have to mention the very first ghost appearing was really good, but then it all went down the slice cg route.
The Martian (2015)
OK, but not a great one
Yes, it is not a bad film, but it is also not as good as it could've been. The story has a great potential, but the film uses only a small portion of it. Especially, I'd accept a tremendous amount of some mixture feelings which consists of loneliness, hope, psychological disorders, anxiety etc... we don't see enough of it, even tho leading cast trying their best, but story is lacking showing them up. And you feel like OK it's not going bad , but you kinda feel pretty sure it'll be sorted out, which makes the surprise and shocking factor go minimum. And also what made me feel a big gap is the lack of lead actors appearance of his psychical and psychological change. a few "fuck" word is not enough! another slim guy showing in the back is not enough, too.
Self/less (2015)
haven't seen worst!
Yes, very solid and very straight forward - awful! predictable, such cliché action... utterly not what Tarsem's filmography was about if you liked Fall, Cell and immortals. I don't even know where to start. I accept that I might've kept my expectations in different direction because of the fact that how heavily visually powerful films Tarsem had and might've expected them same as I am big fun of the way he used visuals and sound in his previous works. But here with Self/less all i could get is a very predictable boring film, not properly considered scenes like -hey we have a super Rich man lets make all his apartment heavy golden decorated interiors, cluttered looking! wow we couldn't't've come up with something more creative! I am really wondering what the motivation was when Tarsem decided to make this film. Was he really need in money or something?
Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)
see it if you wanna see how far a film can be disappointing
It was as disappointing as how far a film can be... Seems like there's a tendency in Hollywood that Prophet films need to be tied up natural causes, a little bit self-interpretations of main character's imagination which can be mistaken by the Creator's will etc, All these turns out to be a very boring prophet film when you claim it as a prophet film. So Rather see this film as another version of historical boring fiction... Moses has a very rich story in all Abrahim religions and finally in Quran, having not seen those points presented and carried properly, makes the film a bit shallow... Definitely you don't need to see this film in 3D at cinemas.
In Fear (2013)
this is not acceptable!!
I am sorry, but I am very frustrated with this film... yes there were parts I liked and got very excited that this film would have been turned out to be a very good one and a fresh one in the genre.. I always find myself excited with less famous projects when they come out. so I was feeling the same with this one and went to see it without a second though..but no it turns out to be a student project which was run out of thoughts towards the end. yes I like the idea of a maze - brunches - signs - dark and gloomy weather. this could let to a very intriguing happenings in the film But this is not enough if you don't have a solid story ahead.. plus oh please less macro face shots!!! so overall totally waste of my good 80 over minutes..
Pacific Rim (2013)
just one of annually big man projects which wont be remembered in the following year
I have to admit the great excitement I was feeling, when heard that G.del Toro was up to shooting this film. unfortunately after half an hour through the film, all excitement started to go to opposite direction. This could be a short film, the story folds and folds on chilches and doesn't go beyond predictable. I loved the gloomy style and fashion of del Toro's at films like Pan's labyrinth, Hellboy..etc. but it feels like its just one of those annually appearing big film projects which you wont be remembering in the following year. I'd love to see del Toro in more cohesive, and forward thinking sci-fi adaptations. yes all 3d and CGI looks nice and polish and seamlessly. I guess in a way rain make it easier to hide some parts though.
The Dark Knight Rises (2012)
very plastic
this kind of batman is not the cup of tea for those who loves batman in noir and Gothic atmosphere, and with more wit in it as well.. its no Gothic nor "dark" as in Burton's style, OK.. Nolan's version was going to be different of course, but is more shallow and feels more plastic.. its like a G.I.Joe film with all those machines..Nolan took Batman to a new direction, yes.. for those who enjoyed other Nolan batman versions, will enjoy this,too.. but to me, its lacking of something.. something missing in visuals, story, characters and talks.. and it is still predictable for some extend. Thanksfully a trilogy has been completed now so we might get to see another versions of Batman. like happened with spider-man and the amazing spider man
Mirror Mirror (2012)
weak storyline and yes a good chunk of Tarsem's visuals
I have to admit it that I felt very excited when I had heard this very project of Tarsem's. As he is such a great talent in using cinema's one of the biggest and most important tool, which is the visuals, and giving the fact that the use of colours, costumes and such other visual elements we have been seen so far are quite unique and surprising comparison to the cliché Hollywood style, I cannot stop my self rushing to see this film. and yes the visuals were all like I was expecting, yet the storyline wasn't interesting and was very predictable, even J.Roberts didn't make it enough to make it less boring, having said that quite enjoyed her in devilish way. however I still look forward to see more of Tarsem's cinematography , more like the Cell, Fall ..etc
Immortals (2011)
Visually stunning and unique interpretation
Every since I heard Tarsem was making this film , I got very excited, couldn't wait to see it. because it's been such long time since the Cell and the Fall.. And I really missed Tarsem's cinematography..finally I just saw the film. I was hoping that -even though the story line is similar with other Greek myth films- was not gonna be another 300 and definitely not a Clash of the Titans.and yes, I was right that it turned out to be a very very Tarsem style, full of atmosphere with stunning visuals, clever use of colour, esp black with gold.. And with a unique interpretation of the classic mythology as Gods appearing young not old. My best bits are The first 15 - 20 seconds Where the titans appear in that cage like thing.. You know that Tarsem is rocking.. When four oracles arrive to drink water..
New York'ta Bes Minare (2010)
weak yet promising
After seeing the trailers and all media coverage I couldn't help increasing my expectations. Quite frankly Mahsun couldn't managed to meet most of them..first of all, why all those gaps and shallowness! It's like a music video rather than a film, Mahsun does only touches the main story but never goes deep in it.. time to Be more original man if you want to speak out international, sorry but having one third of film and cast in English never HELPs. Despite all, I still think he will learn from his mistake and make better films, but I wish he didn't and doesn't go that much commercial and cliché. After all, cinema is not about SHOUTING OUT the message, it's an art of conveying the message and let the audience figure it out..
Love Actually (2003)
connection of the life with others
Is it only me realising every Christmas how good Love Actually actually is? I believe not. nowadays, its hard to see a film which has more than a story worth mentioning and more than a few character. That what i do love about this film, you've got all those people and backgrounds and classes and visions; also such emotions like hate, fun, friendship, trust, lust, lost and love melted within a cleverly simplified story telling. And it has the great choice of cast , (well except a few of them )i believe this film should be listed in modern times classics, it's over the time, congrats everyone who participated this such a lovely film.
