Footfairy (2020)
Don't Waste Your Time
I would highly 'un recommend' this movie. This movie should not have been made👎.
The movie is very low budget and gives very low impression of CBI agents and how they operate to solve a crime. Also, the movie shows that there is no mutual respect among law enforcement personnel and they are very incompetent. Also, every murder story should have an appropriate ending which this movie did not. This is one of the worst movies I've seen in a very long time.
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga (2019)
A Sensitive Issue Handled Insensitively
The movie tries to handle the taboo subject of lesbianism in a conservative Indian society and throws in Hindu/Muslim issue as a bonus but does so in a very puerile manner. Just a small talk by a potential lover of father makes him change his mind about his serious objections to letting his daughter marry a Muslim and also the same talk gives him courage to go against his mother who literally molded his life away from being a chef (wow!). And then a play which was just a replay of what had already transpired without any revelations makes him go along with a major tweaking of his values. If all this was not a nonchalant dealing of the serious subject matter on hand, the father says to daughter "I thought you were like your Mom but now I know you are more like me - you like women"!!! How weird is that?
The flow of the movie was uneven & patchy which reveals lack of experience on the part of the film crew. Overall the movie had no artistic or redeeming value except the acting of Juhi Chawla. Some of the audience were actually angry that they were not cautioned about not bringing their little daughters to the movie. This movie tarnishes the image of VC Films.
Three Identical Strangers (2018)
Documentary that Raises Many Profound Questions
One documentary but many interesting topics to discuss & many real life questions raised by 'Three Identical Strangers'. Let me just list a few: nature v. nurture, rapidly changing medical ethics, what traits are hereditary, how much of our actions are preprogrammed & how much do we have control over, what price the society should willingly pay for scientific research & when does it become too high, is knowing the truth so important that we would wrap our life in turmoil or is it better not to know such a truth, should the people who have been targeted and been subjects of experiments be now themselves conducting experiments on their own in the name of science etc. 'Three Identical Strangers' unfortunately does not answer these questions though the scientists did set out long ago by conducting these experiments to answer many of these questions but medical ethics evolved during the experimentation that prevented them from publishing a scientific paper. However, the documentary does provide 'feelings' on these profound topics expressed by many people who were either subjects of study or closely related to the subjects. I was deeply engrossed in the movie due to many of its twists & turns. I highly recommend this documentary if this kind of stuff interests you.
I.D. (2012)
The Worst Waste of Time Ever
I have seen thousands of movies in my life and some really bad ones but none as bad as this one! I simply fail to understand who would want to make such a meaningless movie and why would anyone participate in it. I agree, people have a right to watch bad movies if they want to but Netflix and other multi media industry should have a minimum requirements of some values that movies should meet to be carried on their platform. This movie has no value whatsoever except to waste your time and leave you angry at the end!
Delhi in a Day (2011)
I Thoroughly Enjoyed the Movie
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie due to great acting, outstanding characterization, a wonderful story and very realistic picturization of the two worlds of the Rich & Poor Delhites who are forced to interact due to mutual dependence but still are a world apart in their outlook. Interestingly, there was a bit of a news played during early part of the movie about Talwar case where truth about the double murder of Talwar daughter and a servant were suppressed by the parents and the police to hide the family dirty laundry. This story was no different where saving the reputation of their daughter was much more important than the life of a servant who had served the family well for twenty years. Rohini comes out and says so to Jasper in harsh words that their lives are worthless and they don't mean anything to anyone. The true India that Jasper came to see by traveling to Varanasi and beyond did not have to be done. He learnt that the image of Spiritual India that he had in his mind and wanted to explore by visiting Varanasi existed in his mind and books only. The real India he witnessed in this crucible where masters and servants represented a cross section of India was nowhere close to any spiritualism. The masters were phony anglicized Indians indulging in hollow chats at parties and the servants were at the mercy of their immoral masters who had no decency or any sense of fairness. What I loved about this movie was also the imagery of Delhi streets and neighborhoods that is sprinkled all over the movie. It makes you feel that you have seen and felt the city after watching the movie just like you feel that you 'know' the characters of the movie. A must watch movie if you are into art movies.
Elysium (2013)
High Hopes But Disappointed
I had very high hopes because of the star cast of my two favorite actors but it turned out to be a dud despite Matt Damon and good visual effects. The story was the weakest link that made the movie make no sense at all. There were big holes in the story and more you think more you laugh at the whole concept. For example, if the technology has advanced so much that something like Elysium could be created then why do they need someone like agent Kruger to shoot missiles. Missiles are launched automatically now but not in future according to the writer and need someone to shoulder launch them! Homes could be invaded easily without any security systems going off! They do now. Do we regress in future? Why transport data through someone's brain? What happened to future WiFi or blue tooth! We send data to satellites in space and they send data to us now! There are many such laughable ideas portrayed in the movie that makes it very low IQ movie.
