The Cat in the Hat (1971)
It never gets old!
This song-filled Dr. Seuss classic should be shown on network television at least twice a year! The musical numbers are pure fun; as a bonus, they managed to sneak in a quick foreign languages lesson. The newest home video release of this favorite has the words on the screen, which is even better. Listen during the song performed with Thing 2 and Thing 1. You'll hear the booming baritone of Thurl "Tony The Tiger" Ravenscroft. I have watched this special over 100 times on home video, and never want to stop.
Spontaneous Combustion (1989)
An okay plot, poorly executed
The opening credits with flames rushing in and out really peaked my interest; however, the rest of the movie fell short. David's character was passive and at times seemed lethargic. I expected a lot more action, pyrotechnic or not. The ending just left me empty and apathetic. The movie had good potential, but just didn't deliver.
Mil gritos tiene la noche (1982)
It stinks!
Every bad stereotype (monotype?) that has ever been applied to any horror movie exists here. Complete lack of editing, off-hand voice dubbing, excruciatingly dull keyboard soundtrack, simplistic plot, unbelievably dumb characters, and much much less. The gratuitous nudity and the opening scene were the only things of interest to me. If not for the graphic gore, this would surely have been an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.
