Gen V (2023– )
8/10
Better than expected
29 September 2023
Huge fan of The Boys, the grittiness, violence and humor really struck all the right chords for me. So when I heard about Gen V I was concerned and almost certain that it was going to be a poor spin off appealing to teens like that one Walking Dead spin off.

This time, I was gladly mistaken. Now, it's not The Boys, it definitely is more "hip" and is set on a college, but it still holds the central tenets of The Boys strong at its center. The characters take a little bit of time to get used to and figure out their roles but by episode 3 they definitely feel a lot more comfortable. I love the main character, Marie, she's wonderful.

Definitely can recommend to a fan of The Boys, especially to hold you over until season 4.

Excellent documentary

Really digs into the very heart of the problems and rot at the Hillsong church. Was incredible to hear from Carl Lentz and Laura. Felt like we learned a lot of intricate details about what happened and how absolutely screwed up Brian Houston was and the entire Hillsong apparatus.

Excellent production value, footage and audio mixing. I really appreciated the lining up of old footage in a way to emphasize the hypocrisy of the church and the toxic community that was created.

If you enjoy high production documentaries on controversial topics this will hit every note and keep you at the edge of your seat.

Wonderful Positive Feeling Science Fiction
9 May 2023
This movie was on my list for a long while but I always put it off because of the low rating on here. I feel kind of stupid for not watching it sooner.

This movie is definitely for those that spend a lot of time looking up, hungry to explore the stars, dreaming about alien life, what it could be like, what it would be like to find it.

If you love the stars, love good vibes and positive feelings and love independent films, this is for you.

The ending is weak, I will admit, i wish they'd put a bit more effort into wrapping the story up, but it's not movie ruining bad, just kind of corny. Would easily recommend.

Chaves Delivers (No Spoilers)
5 June 2021
I was worried when I read that Wan would not be directing, but I didn't want to cast too much doubt initially, I saw potential in Curse of La Llorona and hoped under Wan's tutoring, he would deliver... Well, I can say without a doubt that he did deliver.

Being an avid fan of the first two in the series, I was pleased to see how much of this movie was clearly inspired by both its predecessors and the films of the genre. The atmosphere is fantastic, I recommend watching this late at night, with the lights off and no sounds outside of the television.

Sound work was absolutely stunning, even when no music was playing. Scene set up was pretty decent, some stuff did feel a bit rushed, but it didn't really detract too much from the film overall.

Really a different style than previous films, a bit more focused on the Warren's over the subjects, though it does maintain its charm that made the series beloved by horror fans worldwide.

Definitely recommend watching in theaters if it's safe for you to go.

Felt rushed
1 February 2020
The pacing was very strange and I felt like it was all a bit hazy. Also the dialog was a bit hard to understand or maybe I'm just deaf? I liked the script, and I LOVED the actress that play Gretel, decent, I'd say worth a matinee watch if you have a good theatre near by, the soundtrack is also very good.

Exactly what I was hoping for
13 January 2020
When I saw the advertisement for this show, I was very excited. It is exactly what I was hoping. Mild and dry humour issued by my favorite British TV presenter James May, mixed with Geography, culture, history, people, and just plain fun. I definitely recommend you watch this show and I really hope amazon makes more series like this with James May.

A dream for more Netflix films like this

Warning: Spoilers
An incredible film from beginning to end, historically accurate set and costume design, performances of the actors was fantastic. I love love love the accuracy of the portrayal of combat in full metal plate armor and the violence of battle. I love that they blurr Henry V by Shakespeare and historical drama incredibly well.

Childhood favorite..
10 August 2019
Me and my wife were both avid fans of the stories and art when we were kids. It spooked us and scared us. That's honestly what drove us to see the movie in the first place, the nostalgia trip and the positive reviews from other movie goers..both of us after the credits rolled said in almost unison "that really sucked". What a let down, we expected it to be between a 6-7 movie, and honestly it's a 4 if I'm being generous. The plot is terrible, most of the acting is just not good, and the jump scares are the only thing scary in the movie. It's cheap, classic summer thriller/horror garbage. I'm sure the same people that thought happy death day was a good flick will like this. Save your 15$ and go see once upon a time in Hollywood.

Decent, not the best, worth a watch.

Warning: Spoilers
Okay so first off, this is not the same as TWD, it's definitely a unique take on Zombies, they are smarter, have some motor skills and are much faster than the slow moving hoard zombie type, they also transition almost immediately after death, even when not bitten.

The best part is the characters, god was I impressed by how real they were, some characters are brilliant, some are absolutely stupid, most are somewhere in between. The world seems interesting, but weak in a lot of ways, I was a bit confused by how it had been six weeks since the outbreak started but a lot of people were clueless as to what was happening at first, but realized information would be crap and everyone would be confused and in long term shock, so it actually makes a lot of sense.. When you trust the military and they are telling you everything is fine, you don't get prepared, you don't do things correctly. You get optimism bias and pretend everything is okay, then when it's too late, you are screwed.

Some of the plot points are weird (or just stupid, like the chase scene, I'm not really sure why they put that in there, it doesn't make any sense, though it did kill off my least favourite character so I was fine with it. (the scene itself was well done, really hitting the adrenaline and shock emotions well)

Overall I think the show accurately displays the mass shock that would settle over everyone. You make a lot of mistakes, do stupid stuff, get into stupid situations and say stupid things when adrenaline and dopamine are pumping. Overall I give it a 7/10, definitely worse the watch, just keep in mind the acting is a little rough.

The best Star Wars movie ever made.
15 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Filled with new concepts, revolutionary ideas that are leading the universe in the correct direction. We can all have the force. The Jedi Order was a cult, a cult of ego, and Luke realized that. This movie is incredible.. Incredible.. The haters are fan boys that wanted an OT copy.

Garbage.

I went in blind, now I'm sad I didn't check imdb first. This movie is awful, the characters are terrible, the script is bad, the acting is bad the premise is bad, the only good thing is the soundtrack. There is no logic here. Please don't watch. Or watch and wish you went blind.

There is nothing here for decent story.
15 November 2018
I'll give this movie two things, the makeup and costume design, and the cinematography.

The rest is rambling crap, filled with pseudo-intellectualism and a weird twist at the end that will have you confused... Actually you'll be confused most of the film.. And the ending will only cement that.. If you want a good psychological thriller, please watch Shutter Island, this just makes me shutter in mild discomfort.

Outlaw King (2018)

Great Film, honestly wish it was an hour longer.
9 November 2018
Great movie, especially for history buffs who were struck in awe by the pure stupidity in Braveheart.

There are some story points that they have taken some liberties, but this is for the sake of entertainment, not at the downfall of historical perspective.

Chris Pine shows his acting chops here, he was well casted and really exemplified the role of Robert the Bruce. The cast to back up his protagonist role was also quite stellar, filled with a milieu of personality types and no one stuck out as a bad pick for the role though many of them forgettable which was a shame. It was great seeing Stephen Dillan (Stannis Baratheon in Game of Thrones) back in a medieval role, it really suits him and his performance as Edward I was really quite spectacular.

My biggest complaint is that it felt the story left unfinished at the end, and I wish there was about an hour more of film to watch. The battles were brutally violent and visceral, and the sets were simply stunning.

Overall I give this movie an 7/10, Characters could have been flushed out better and some pacing issues fixed. Overall one of my favourites of the year.

Great film with flaws, given life by stellar acting
5 February 2018
If you enjoy the other two films in the Cloverfield series, or were one of the many, like myself, that spent hours spilling through forums trying to figure out where the Cloverfield monster came from.. This movie is for you. It's also a great sci-fi, thriller, with numerous homages to the Alien series.

The bad: I think the films plot was rushed at points, it felt a little too much crammed into the end and would have loved to see the very last scene done better.

The good: The acting in this film is beyond good, all the actors played their roles phenomenally and really gave this movie originality. The thriller aspects are genuine and grotesque, while the brief moments of comic relief really add to the connections to the characters..

Give this movie a go, it's definitely not for everyone, but if this flavor of film is your style, then you won't want to miss it.

Amazing Movie!
5 January 2013
Let's first just say that all of the haters of this film will always be haters, so i will not even bother trying to convince them, that this movie is good.

Now for the people that actually matter, this movie is a brilliant piece of work out by the great film director Peter Jackson, whom is best known for his rendition of the LOTR trilogy. He has successfully brought us on an journey of epic proportion yet again. This Movie will keep you glued to your seat and your eyes centered. It is Worth the watch, and definitely worth telling all your friends and family about it.

A near perfect 9/10 for this future classic, and present day masterpiece.

One of The Best 007 Movies!
5 January 2013
This movie struck me as a fantastic, and startlingly good film, that kept me paying 100% attention for 100% of the time. Like a typical James Bond film, it is filled with nonstop action, and a few very nice women.Except with this Bond film, it add much more, a style that is so unique and a big ending that will definitely have a permanent mark on the James Bond series to come.

Daniel Craig's performance as 007 has been truly remarkable, and we should all be excited for the next chapter in this timelessly classic series!

A solid 8/10 for this wonderful film.

Best and the Worst
13 October 2012
So, you ask, Is this movie really good? or is it just another one of those lame movies that says it's good than has a shock value of nil? For Anyone who asks those questions, the answer is here, this movie, is by far one of the most disturbing, heart pounding, gut wrenching, films i have ever seen. This movie, at least to me, beats out some of the more grotesque films like Cannibal Holocaust, and I Spit on Your Grave. This movie will make you depressed, angry, and completely immerse you into the event, the emotions compelled in this film are profound. You need only watch once to have every inch of this movie engraved in the back of your eyelids for weeks to come.

Warning, this film is not for the weak hearted, or the weak stomach, prepare to be changed after this film, and remember, this actually happened, except, much worse.
