This Movie Was Awful. Just Awful
23 February 2010
I really did not want to see this because I have not liked perry's other works. however, I allowed my girlfriends to drag me to it. I got what I expected. A low class movie that was very bad from the direction, to the acting, to the production. I swear, I do not know what goes through casting folks minds when they make their choices. Have they even read the scripts at all? And I guess it is asking too much for the director to direct the actors and actresses. I say this because surely he can see what is going on in front of the camera, so he must know it is awful. So this would be the time to give the actors some direction to help them become better, and make something that won't have audiences washing their eyes out with bleach after viewing this garbage, and lamenting the fact that they are unable to physically gouge the memory of having seen this from their brain. It was my fault really, I know perry sucks, i know his movies suck, and I know after the last one, I said never again. Yet I went again anyway. I need to have my head examined.

Not really good
17 February 2010
I was hoping that i might enjoy this after reading some of the positive reviews about it. Also, I have liked Jay-Z in some other acting roles, and I like some of his music. Unfortunately, this movie totally sucks. Beans looked like he was going to be a pretty interesting character at first. But then the movie descended into pointless violence and every other worth was either the 'n' word or a curse word. The plot was non existent, the story just rambles about from one violent scene to another. And Jay-Z's character, who I was really looking forward too, was just plain silly and completely unbelievable. This movie was a complete, utter, total waste of time. I should have just taken a nap, I am sure I would have been much more entertained by a dream.

Typical Seagal
3 February 2010
Nothing out of the ordinary here. If you have past Seagal work, then you know exactly what to expect. I liked it for what it is. Lots of action. Lots of blood. Lots of forearm-breaking (you Seagal fans know exactly what I mean here)

As per usual, some of the lines were extremely lame. Get this one: one of the bad guys said

'we have to get him, he threatened my balls...no one threatens my balls'...lol.

How lame can you get. But like I said, I knew what to expect. It was exactly what I expected, and I liked it. Seagal is really showing his age. The big long action sequence at the end of the movie was really dark. It was very difficult to follow what was going on at times.

Not very good
3 February 2010
This was a disappointment. All in all, there was not enough action scenes. The movie spent much time developing the main character, Sgt. James, who I absolutely hated for his recklessness and disregard for the safety of others. He was utterly despicable. Yet he was the hero of the movie. Boo. It would have been much better if the other Sgt. were the main character. It is much easier to identify with him, rather than the racist hillbilly Sgt. James. James is a character not deserving of sympathy. I was rooting the entire time I knew him, within minutes of meeting him, that he would die. Some of the experiences he had throughout were meaningless. Attempts to show his human side failed miserably. The ending was a letdown. Completely without action, and really just meaningless. This is a blah movie. I want my money back.

A Big Disappointment
1 February 2010
Wow, what a disappointment. I went into this expecting to be thrilled, and to experience horror. Unfortunately that is not at all what I got.

I want to say from the start that I am a Rob Zombie fan. I also thought his remake of Halloween I was pretty good. Not great, but good. And, therefore, I think it was fair to expect this one to be good.

What we get is really pretty awful. What a shame. I have many complaints. First, the volume. My gosh, my ears are still ringing. Way too loud. Second, the profanity. Way, way, way too much. Seems like every other word was the 'f' word. It is very noticeable, what is up with that? Third, and this is a big one, killing of the characters before we got to know them at all. Some character development would have been nice.

I love blood and gore. I usually complain that movies do not have enough. But this one has way too much. Sheer volume of deaths does not necessarily translate into a good movie. (Jeez, I can't believe I am saying that, lol) Finally, the actress playing Laurie was a terrible choice. Not likable at all. And Rob Zombie gave his wife a roll with a little real time in the movie and that was a big mistake. She is not a good actress at all. She should practice her acting skills (which are presently non-existent) somewhere other than a major motion picture.

Get ready to cry
1 February 2010
I have been avoiding this movie because I just don't usually like having my emotions manipulated. However, there came a point when I had watched everything else available, so I gave it a shot. I do not want to spoil the movie, so I will tread lightly here.

The whole movie, as expected, seems contrived to make you cry. They take a pitiful character, make terrible, terrible things happen to her, and then use that to explain away her bad behavior. Typical.

With all the heavy hitters involved in production, mixed with the cameos, and the social commentary, taking into consideration the time of year that it was released, I would say it was purposed to win awards.

In the end, as I already mentioned, is takes overly dramatic circumstances and throws them at you, and forces you to cry. The social commentary is awful. It pretty much says: excuse the awful acts committed by inner-city youths, they are a product of their environment. I gave it a one because I think we need to accept responsibility for our actions.

>>>>>>>>>Total "B" Movie<<<<<<<<<<<<<
27 January 2010
I just finished watching this movie. Overall the acting was really poor, lines were poorly delivered, kind of 'awkwardly'. Locations were boring. Practically the whole thing took place in a diner, reminiscent of 'Maximum Overdrive'.

In general, the movie had a depressive feel about it, which it leaves you with when you walk out of the movie. I was honestly thinking about leaving in the middle of the movie. Everything about this screams 'B-movie'.

When you have gone on a movie-watching spree and exhausted your local rental store of all the possible movies you might want to watch, then you should consider this one. Not beforehand.

If you want to watch a good apocalyptic movie, try 'Book of Eli'. To give you a frame of reference, 'I am Legend' was also a better movie in this genre (of course it is several years old now).

Better than expected
26 January 2010
Hi. I am a 40 year old man. I was reluctant to watch this one because of all the bad reviews, and because I am not a 13 year old girl. I also have not read any of the books. I am also not a huge fan of monster movies, though I did like interview with a vampire.

I have to say it was much better than I expected.

I recommend this movie. If you are like I was, that is, afraid to try it because of the bad reviews, try it out. I really did enjoy it. So much so that I got the second one. I haven't seen that one yet, though.

The plot moved along at a nice pace, the effects were not bad, the actors were pretty good.

I have not seen a worse movie in many, many years. From the writing, to the production, to the actors, this is just awful.

Right off the bat, you know you are in for a bad ride. The actors spout inane lines in a deadpan monotone. While it is true that they are not responsible for the confused plot, which rambles about pretty much pointlessly throughout, they could at least put some effort into the deliverance of the lines. The effects throughout the movie are equally lame.

The movie is just full of unbelievable characters, doing unrealistic things from the poorly portrayed cops to the ridiculously portrayed illuminati, to the vampires that no one could really care about.

I just cannot believe that it is possible that any person or group of persons could have thought that producing this drivel was a good idea. Who pays for garbage like this? (I mean the producers, etc). I guess they never once saw any of it before it was done, otherwise they would surely have pulled the plug on it. For some of the reviews I have read that gave a positive review...they HAD to have meant a different movie. No one, I mean no one, could like this. Awful. Terrible. P-U, it stunk, badly. Some movies are so bad, you actually just have to see it. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. Although it is really bad, it is not even entertaining in its badness.
