Baaghi 3 (2020)
This is not a movie. Is a weapon.
If you want someone to be dead, but don't want to murder them, then tie them to a chair and play this movie.
Even the strongest ones can watch only two times. But the rest will succumb as soon the movie starts playing second time.
Kabir Singh (2019)
Better than original
As some have already mentioned, this movie is not about ethics or moral. This is a story of a rebel who doesn't care about those. Hence, good justice is made to the plot.
Comparing to the original, I found Shahid has done great job and will make you forget the actor from original movie, while you can still remember the actress of the original. Otherwise the movie looks exact replica including the angle of most of the shots and dialogues. You should watch this one to see Shahid's hard work.
As you may already know, don't watch with family.
Dhobi Ghat (2010)
A master piece
Kiran Rao has done well in her first directorial debut. Hats offs to her. You would remember each scene of the movie when you go out of the hall.
All the actors have put their 100% effort. Can not comment on any one. Pratiek has a done good job once again and promises to stay here.
The camera work is superb. The opening scenes in small hut with different angles makes you go amazed. How could the director and the cameraman did those scenes? The story telling handy cam scenes gives you an amateurish feeling, which is what director wanted us to feel.
The special effects (background noise) is something may go unnoticed. Coz, it is so perfect. The noise of the city, its traffic, the crows, the raining.... You won't feel you are watching a movie.
But, the most important part of the movie is its editing. The story telling is completed by the perfect editing of the scenes.
As you already know, this is not a ordinary Hindi masala film. If you like the parallel cinema then this is one of it and don't miss it.
Guzaarish (2010)
Could have been made better..
If we consider the fact that the movie is directed by Bansali, he has made best attempt. However, as an art, you still feel, something is missing in the movie.
The movie has a very simple storyline that anyone can understand. Hrithik's performance is at his best. However, none of the other artist has got enough chance to showcase his/her talent. Strictly speaking, it felt, even the main character did not get enough screen presence. It seemed, again, just like his previous movies, he is more interested in the ambiance than the performance.
The movie misses some details, especially during the magic shows. The magic shows are shown as if they are the real things but not tricks. For example, during the paper trick (performed as a training), it is shown as it is done without using any other tools. However, it is common sense that, there needs some thing (a fan) to make the paper to fly, which is missing from the scene.
The director leaves a lot to your imagination. Examples are, the love between the two main characters. I am not sure, if he did not wanted to explain or he did not know how to show it.
Though, the movie was excellent if compared to my expectations, I can not give any grace points to it.
Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? (2010)
OK. But, not up to the mark.
The movie had great expectations. That was quite natural having Paresh Rawal in the casting. People might expect this to be another Hera Pheri. However, I didn't had any of that kind of expectation. I just wanted to watch a decent comedy movie.
The first 15 minutes were the best part of the movie. However, later the comedy scenes were too isolated and stand independent. And most of the comedy/tragedy have not required a guest. Any other character in the movie could have done those. There are hardly any jokes you could remember.
The unnecessary songs leave their mark, making you to think why the hell so many songs are there in the movie. There are 3 devotional songs!!!! But, "Jyothi Jalaile" is the only songs you would remember for its funny side (it has the tune of famous "Beedi Jalaile" from Omkara).
The acting by all the members are good. But, the story lacked a good comedy theme in it so that actors can contribute more.
The two things you would remember coming out of the hall are the "Jyothi Jalaile" song and the climax. I recommend this only if you have no other work and just want to kill some time.
My Name Is Khan (2010)
Horrible experience (sorry to SRK fans).
This is again a pure masala movie, with conflict of themes. I did not understand if they wanted to show, 1. Suffering of Muslims and Sikhs after 9/11 in US, for the mistake of some one else. (Like they shown in the New York, starring John Abraham and Niel Nitin Mukesh). 2. Universal brotherhood. 3. An somewhat mentally challenged person's quest. (Like Forrest Gump, starring Tom Hanks). 4. A love story.
So far this is the best acting by SRK. He could not be match with Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump (English) or Kamal Hasan in Swathimuthyam (Tamil).
More over, the story goes very slow. that doesn't mean it is an art movie. I felt like the movie is ending, then I realized that not even Interval is over. :-/
Entertainment? What is that? None of the songs you can remember after watching. Hardly any jokes.
Hence, this movie fits in neither Art nor Entertainment category. If you are a fan of SRK/Kajol/Karan Johar then watch this without any expectations. Best of luck to you.
