My Blind Brother (2003)
A great premise a good short but a disappointing ending
I saw this film in my film class in NYU and it was very interesting. I enjoyed the fact that the blind brother acted like a prick to his brother and got all the attention. Sophie in a q&a after the film screened stated she originally had it my blind sister but decided to make them guys coming to the conclusion that having it girls would have a different effect on the audience. I'm not sure why she thought that. It was hitting a homerun until the ending which left me wanting. Such a great premise wasn't used for all it's comedic and dramatic possibilities. Some of the film may be offensive towards blind people depends who you are. Some people were offended though in my class.
The Big Shave (1967)
what's the big deal?
I attend NYU film school and I anticipated seeing this film in class and was disappointed by this heralded film. A metaphor for the Vietnam war. Where does it tell us that? Maybe Scorsese said it was about that. But overall it's pointless, it has massive coverage of the bathroom and then a guy shaves himself for awhile till he's all bloody. So what.
