Halo (2022)
This is not Halo
There is so much great material from the Halo games they could have expanded upon, but instead they make this generic piece of xxxx. I´m not going to be watching anymore of these silly episodes. I think I´ll just play the Halo Infinite Campaign again.
The Responder (2022)
Not Believable
I wanted to like this and I thought ok super gritty drama, maybe that will help me buy Freeman as this tough character.
But to me he just did not come off like this super tough guy, just a slightly more broken/tired version of dr Watson
The unrealistic script/plot and lazy characters didn´t exactly help.
Liverpool accent was quite good but it wasn´t consistent enough. They should have used local talent to make the main character more authentic
His go to line for maximum menace (I´ll kill you!) really had me cringing
Stephen Graham plus a much better script and just more realistic characters, then it could easily have been 8+ stars for me.
I recommend watching Time instead (Sean Bean & Stephen Graham)
Quiz (2020)
Michael Tarrant
Michael Sheen as Chris Tarrant was so perfect, and that smile :D
I just wish we could have more of Michael portraying Tarrant.
Extreme Railways & Ultimate Birdspotting with Chris Tarrant.
Maximum Rambling in Norfolk with Chris Tarrant & Alan Partridge
Rick and Morty (2013)
Rick and Morty Season 3
Anyway that's how I escaped from space prison!
Wow after waiting soooo long for season 3, that opening scene was just beyond perfect. That first episode was excellent. What a great start to a new season I thought.
But sadly most of the other episodes are not so Ricktastic, the writing just feels off. The humour was more subtle and clever in season 1 and 2, now it's more in your face. I'ts more violent and darker, which I don't have a problem with as long as it contributes to the story. But making it darker just for the sake of trying to look dark and edgy just doesn't work. And it's not something they needed to do since season 1 and 2 were perfect, and I wouldn't call them light anyway.
There is too much unnecessary transformer like action now, it's harder to connect with the story or characters. To me, the tremendous appeal of the show comes from the subtle super intelligent humour, the great characters and interesting stories and ideas. it does not come from mindless action.
I accepted the long wait for a new season because that was supposedly the time it took to create these masterpieces. A very long wait and then we'll only get 10 episodes, OK for such a great show I can live with that. But season 3 is hardly worth that long wait for only 10 mediocre episodes. Given the mindless action I'm sure they could have made 20 episodes for season 3. But I'd much rather wait longer and get fewer episodes as long as they are as good as the first two seasons.
I wonder what went wrong.. Did they panic in one of their creative meetings: What do we do now?? How can we top the previous 2 seasons?? We have to go further, darker, more shocking, more violent!
What ever the reason I hope they look back to season 1 and season 2 and realize that they didn't have to change the format. If the third season had been the first season, than they wouldn't have nearly as many fans as they do today.
I gave the first two seasons 10/10
Season three 7/10
The Adjustment Bureau (2011)
Bureaucratic Adjustments
First off, Matt Damon portraying a suit & tie congressman, I didn't buy it and I was constantly aware of this throughout the movie, he never looked comfortable in his suit (and certainly not running in it) I like Damon but I think he was miscast in this movie. I would have gone for someone more charming, like Hugh Jackman, Ewan McGregor or Eric Bana.
The idea of the office angels and their adjustments was interesting, making them look and operate like a big firm with a chairman was kind of clever but in my opinion it took all the mystery and charm out of it. In a couple of warehouse type scenes I thought there were too many of them as well, just standing around trying to look menacing. The riot- cop-angel types I also found unnecessary and quite silly, they seemed only to be there for the trailer to look more like a Bourne action movie.
Terence Stamp was excellent as always.
So, interesting idea, and maybe if done differently, a little adjustment to the story, casting or directing, could have made for a decent film.
