Echo (2023)
It was a hard watch
Even though this was only 5 episodes, it was a hard watch, especially with reading all the sub titles to explain the sign language. It was an ok attempt by Marvel with something new, but the series was glum.
The Echo character just lacked charisma and was over shadowed by Daredevil and King Pin characters. Daredevil I look forward too, as long as no She Hulk to spoil it.
I give it a low okay for watching, but I can say I will never watch this again in my entire life, were I could watch a Punisher, Defenders series, several more times.
Overall, I think you can give this one a miss as at times I was hitting the fast forward to get to the end quicker.
Expend4bles (2023)
Let Down Big Time
I have loved the past Expendables movies and watched them all untold times, BUT this was the worst that I could never watch again.
For starters the over use of GI and it wasn't even good in parts was a big let down. Why could they now just film a scene on an actual location, like a beach bar or in a proper vehicle or boat. Certain the CGI would have cost more.
The filming camera quality was not the same either, I had to check back and this seems lower resolution and just not right.
The acting at times was so hammed up, it wasn't funny, it was like people reading off sheets, as there was no free speech and acting.
The story though simple, could have been a bit better and was predictable towards the end. You knew what was going to happen. Have to agree with others that Megan Fox and the new bloke, where so dam annoying too.
Overall the constant CGI killed it. Man, I could have found some better locations.to shoot the CGI scenes.
Mr Stallone and Mr Statham, if you make another, look back to how the original one was done.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
Ok but could have done better with one less person
So went and saw this as love Indiana Jones. It was ok in parts and had its moments and great effects, BUT why was the Phoebe woman put in front of Indiana? You want to see Indiana be the main character and not over shadowed by a new character the producing company is trying to introduce.
It just seems in so many movies now, that have a larger male dominated audience, that there is a drive for female representation in many movies being the agenda for producing companies rather than making a movie fans want to see. If they had cut Phoebe from the film or pushed her back more behind the scenes and down played her role, this would have been another great installment. Save for Disney streaming.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (2023)
This has to win an Academy Award
Watched GotG 3 last night and it was the most entertaining film I have seen in ages. It had a brilliant story, a lot of emotion, it was funny and mind blowing special effects. I just wonder how people can ever think about the technology and effects that go into one of these movie. On the personal side it was moving and bought a tear to the eye in certain scenes, which kept moving forward in an uplifting climax for the end. Marvel has finally marveled me with one of there best films yet. Make sure you stay to the very closing credits for the final two scenes, thus a potential Guardians of the Galaxy 4. Loved it!
Black Sails (2014)
Prequel to Treasure Island
I heard so many good stories from friends about this and started to watch. It then turned into a binge session. It was fantastic. Brilliant sets, story was great and loved the linkages to the book Treasure Island. It is definitely a must see. Do hope they make the sequel using the same cast.
A Day to Die (2022)
Why?
Film had potential with good actors, but alot of bad graphics, music not matching or to high volume, script badly done, just not talking normal and characters making stupid decisions.
Eternals (2021)
Worst Marvel movie Yet
I have loved watching all the Marvel movies and I know how good they are, by how many ties I watch them. But Eternals, I will never watch again. The story was slow, frustrating and disappointing. I don't think it was cast correctly as it was like hammed up acting and the interactions between some cast were like read of a script. The thought process of taking out a Celestial by an Eternal just defied logic and to me unbalanced the characters within the Marvel Universe. Certainly great effects, but long periods of irrelevant actions and some dumb jokes. For example breaking a table, thinking it was vibranium... duh, how smart are these people meant to be. Anyway its worth a watch, but leave your brain at home.
Cursed (2020)
Political Correctness Gone Wrong
This was just so badly miscast. King Arthur is set in the 5th to 6th century, but Arthur and other prime characters are of African decendancy. The first Africans were not recorded in Britain till mid 16th century. Nimue and Merlin were probably the only ones they cast right, but then its a fantasy...
Captain Marvel (2019)
Absolutely Loved It
After watching a film I look for a word to describe how much I enjoyed it and found this film to be brilliant with a lot of not what you were expecting in it. I definitely could have just walked back into the cinema and watched this again.
Brie did better than expected, the effects were amazing, the story brilliant with some good twists. MAKE sure you stay to the very end after the credits - very funny bit. Oh and a great tribute to 'Stan Lee' in the leading titles.
Black Ghost (2018)
Sorry but its a no...
So many high reviews? Why? This absolutely was no 'Thor Ragnorok'. I wrote such a long list of things wrong and deleted... I think you need to make up your own mind :-)
