Punch-Drunk Love (2002)
I wasted 95 minutes of my life.
How can so many people like this movie? Normally I feel like I can come to the IMDB to see what movies are good and which ones are bad. I was mistaken with this film. This "movie" rates as one of the worst films I have ever seen. What is the point of it?
I knew that Adam Sandler would not be funny in this movie and that it would not be full of action, but I did not know that it would not have a point. I enjoy all types of movies and I am normally not a picky person, but this movie made me feel like I wasted part of my life that I will never get back.
What is the point of the piano? Why was this movie made? The DVD's special features were not even that special.
I give this movie a 1 out of 10.
Requiem for a Dream (2000)
I didn't know whether to throw up or applaud
I had never heard of this movie before, but when I saw it on the IMDB and saw the high rating, I had to see it. I went ahead and just bought it and I am not disappointed. Wow, I have never seen a movie like this one before. I have never done drugs, and I will definitely never start after watching this movie. After watching it I felt like I had been beat up and smeared through a sewerÂ…never felt that way before after watching a movieÂ…
****May be Spoilers****
Requiem for a Dream is a very disturbing and dark movie. The camera angles show some of the oddest and most unique point of views that I have ever seen. It is nice though to watch a different kind of movie that does not have to tie up everything at the end and make you feel happy. A movie does not always have to have a happy ending. About half way through the movie you can tell that things are just not going right for them, so I at least expected to watch them go down their dark paths. I felt sorry for the four characters as they were sucked into insanity/darkness/hell, and wished that things would turn out alright, but I knew betterÂ…
If you liked this movie, I suggest that you watch Ladri di biciclette - 1948 (The Bicycle Thief). Don't ask me why, but they both have the same kind of feel of being a great movie but depressing at the same time. They are different plots and different times, but both of them make me feel a little depressed/panicky/anxious/pity.
I gave this movie 10 out of 10. I just think it is has unique camera angles/point of view, great acting, good plot, and directed so well that it is worth watching at least once, if not twice. The DVD has deleted scenes and a commentary on the making of the movie, as well as more. The DVD menu for this movie is also very unique. When I first put it in I was getting upset that I could not get my DVD player to work right, I thought maybe my TV was messed up also. You have to watch the DVD to understand what I mean.
I suggest you go watch it, but it would not be a good movie for children. If some of the scenes were not so graphic (particularly the sex scenes), then it would be a good movie to show to children/adolescents as an anti-drug movie.
Identity (2003)
I need to watch it again!
Identity is a psychological thriller that really kept me on the edge of my seat. I figured out who the killer was about half way through the movie, but then some twists were thrown in and I thought it was someone else, and then I thought it was another guy....etc. My initial thought on the killer was correct but I was never 100% sure who killed who.
This movie reminds me of Sixth Sense in the sense that when I left the theater I was in shock and wanted to talk to people about it. If you have not seen this movie yet, go see it and really pay attention to all the details. I am going to have to watch it again so I can better understand it.
Great movie!
X2 (2003)
I was on the edge of my seat!
I normally believe that sequels are not as good as the first movie, but I believe this was better than the first X-Men. The new characters are great and the very first scene is so cool.
There are so many special effects that I never got bored and was always entertained. I will not say much because I do not want to give anything away, but I thought the ending was very good and followed the cartoon series that I used to watch. I can not wait until the next X-Men, I am sure I won't be disappointed.
The Good Girl (2002)
Did I actually stay awake?
I did not fall asleep during this movie, not because of all the action or interesting characters, but because the plot was so weird that I had to keep myself awake to really see what would happen next.
Everyone in the movie is just so blahh and really gives you the feeling of being no-where and wanting to escape. If this movie did not have Jennifer Aniston in it then it would have been a horrible movie. She is so attractive that at least you can look at her and make it through the movie. :o)
Phone Booth (2002)
Not bad
This movie was not exactly what I expected, but it was not bad at all. I was never bored during the movie, and that is surprising since 95% of the movie is shot in a phone booth.
I guess you could say the movie has a moral to it to...
X-Men (2000)
Brings back childhood memories
I thought this movie was great. I grew up watching the X-Men cartoons on Saturday mornings and playing X-Men on Sega, and I was happy to see that the movie stayed fairly true to the comic book characters.
There is plenty of action in the movie and lots of cool special effects. I had to buy it has soon as it came out on DVD. If you have not seen it yet, what are you waiting for??
Captain Ron (1992)
I guess you have to love the ocean?
I do not understand why this movie has been rated so low by so many people. Sure it is silly, but that is what makes it so funny. I think this movie has great actors in it and is worth watching over and over. I had to finally buy it on DVD because the VHS version was beginning to wear out.
I love the ocean and so most movies that have to do with it I like, like The Blue Lagoon, The Perfect Storm, Father Goose, and Cast Away. I like the theme of boating/sailing across the ocean. I also like comedy so this movie has it all for me!
Tremors (1990)
The Best of them All
I love this movie. I have not seen the television series, but I have watched all of the Tremors made after this one and I think this is the best! It is like a rough and tough cowboy movie, male bonding and that kind of stuff. It is never really scary but is a good comedy if nothing else. The other movies are not the same without Kevin Bacon.
Willow (1988)
One of my favorite movies of all time!
I do not understand why others did not rate this movie higher. It should (in my eyes) be at least in the top 100 movies on IMDB. I love this adventure movie. There are many good actors and the plot is great. It is a romance, adventure, fantasy, and overall great action movie!
The Image (1975)
Very erotic
I bought several erotic movies for my girlfriend and me and out of all of them I have found this one to be the best so far. The DVD has some scenes where there are lines in the picture but they do not take away from the movie, for being such an old movie it transferred well to DVD. I have to admit that I did not think that the movie would get so explicit in some of the scenes, but I think that just made it even better.
If you want a very erotic movie then this one is great. There are some scenes that are a little annoying, like screaming for five or so minutes, but overall it is great. I would not buy it if you are looking for a porno, but there are several scenes that you would see in a porno.
Emmanuelle (1974)
It is a Keeper
It is not a porno and nothing was explicit, I am surprised that it is not rated R. However the actresses are all very beautiful and just enough is seen to make the movie erotic. The lesbian scenes really make the movie.
The movie in general is entertaining. It kept my attention even when they had clothes on. The scenes of Bankok were great and very interesting. I am going to keep this movie, and oh yea the soundtrack really is pretty good!
De Sade 70 (1970)
Waste of time
I thought the movie was alright, but I am sorry that I bought it. I would rather have just rented it. It seems like half of the movie is out of focus, I am sure it is on purpose but I just don't get it. There are a few erotic scenes but they are not worth the money and the story line is not worth it either.
Father Goose (1964)
My Favorite Cary Grant Movie!
This really is one of my favorite Cary Grant movies. My family used to watch this movie every year over and over. It has an interesting plot and good characters.
What would you do if you were trapped on an island in the middle of a war with a bunch of girls that wanted to take over? Cary Grant plays the perfect slob that has to cope with being around too much estrogen.
Grrl Power! (2000)
Silly but Stimulating!
Grrl Power has several attractive young girls having sex, what more could you want? There are pop-up ads during the film that say silly things like the girl's birth dates and useless trivia, but it is still interesting and something new. There is very little plot and is basically just several scenes of sex, which is good, but it may not be the perfect couples movies. There is no music during the sex scenes.
The basic plot to each scene is a girl writes in to these girls for advice and the girls act-out their advice which is using there `grrl power' to get what they want. Which basically means having sex to get what they want. Great!
This is a very silly porn film but some of the girls are young and attractive. It is worth getting just to see eighteen year old girls without implants. Some of the girls do have tattoos though.
Dreamquest (2000)
An entertaining adventure!
Dream Quest was a surprisingly good movie. There were some noticeable goofs, but that can be expected in a movie like this that was made in such a short time. I did not feel any urge to fast forward during the movie and I found it pretty entertaining. It gets kind of silly at times, but overall I recommend it. They probably used up all the glitter in the nearby stores, and some of the costume designs were pretty good.
