Metal Lords (2022)
2/10
Disco Sucks!!!
17 April 2022
I did enjoyed Metal Lords.

It was the perfect runtime, and it managed to portray three young peoples lives, that I found interesting and captivating even, especially Emily's, (Isis Hainsworth) condition, as I found it very touching the way Jaeden Martell's (Kevin) made her feel special in a very tender way that empowers her. Hunter with his teenage angst, and little rumble with the jock's and Ed Sheeran Wannabes, discovering that he's ok, and doesn't have to be medicated at a retreat. After he learns from a hero, that he's fine as he is, he just has to, live and let live.

All of the filler in between was spot on, funny, thoughtful and sometimes sticking it to the man! A very enjoyable story with the beautiful people staring in it. I finished it feeling sated.

Foundation (2021– )

A beautifully shot program that I am very much enjoying
26 September 2021
I had the worst toothache, persistent and throbbing that had radiated to my ear, caused by a nasty abscess, when I began to watch this. After taking two, generic paracetamol, and within 5 minutes into watching, Foundation, I wasn't troubled by pain at all. I know it wasn't the.pain killers that brought me relief, they hadn't eased the pain for days. It was being totally enthralled in Foundation. It has a fresh feeling that mesmerised me.

The acting was very good, production design was well done, they saved on the budget with the lighting, lots of dark corners. That allowed them to spend on focusing our eyes on a what mattered. I am enjoying it very much. My toothache came back again and paracetamol did'nt work as well watching the news.

The Expanse (2015–2022)

A massive amount of talent on the screen!
28 January 2021
Having watched many sci-fi TV series, most of the good ones and some of the silly but fun ones, tried to watch the bad ones because someone likes them. The Expanse is a terrific sci-fi program. As others have said the truth, that Battlestar Galactica was amazing. When it ended, my sci-fi needs were sated. Yet it still felt beyond what was possible. The Expanse feels like it could, except for the protomolecule and rings, be one of our, distant futures! The Expanse has been so Fresh, for me to watch. There really hasn't been a dull moments viewing and it just gets better. It's not just all about flying through space but you have drama, great little side stories about how the crews became who they are. The cast have been given plenty of time and space, no pun intended, to make their characters grow and I've really come to like them. It is unlike any TV series I've watched before but it's also very familiar. I feel very comfortable viewing every episode. There is a great deal to like about, The Expanse. I highly recommend it to anyone wishing to binge on something new. If you're in lockdown you could get perhaps, get a months free trial of Amazon, start now and you will be up to speed by the first days of spring! The Expanse, IMO, is well worth a watch. Think of it as the Crown for Sci-fi fans.

Most enjoyable film!
30 December 2020
I thought it was a terrific film, with very natural feeling acting. The chemistry clicked perfectly between this ensemblée. I caught it on the BBC at Christmas and loved every minute. Well worth a watch.

Greenland (2020)
7/10
I was entertained! Bah humbug to those that weren't
25 November 2020
Greenland is a well crafted film, made on, I imagine a modest budget. A good job done by the whole crew. Some people hated this film. They sound bitter and don't seem to understand how family life works. Dad does have a, mahoosive car though. There were some great little twists and turns in there. Greenland captures the horrors and lows of humans, what they will do to survive and also the sacrifices, people will make for others. I see moments like this in my life, why not in a film? The acting is good and the little boy did a fine job. He has done some of the best work in the whole picture, he really came across a scared witless! I enjoyed the film. See it for yourselves.

Fatman (2020)

Such a shame it could have been terrific!
24 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The trailer for this film was so well done that it makes you think, everyone who criticises this film is wrong. The are not. The trailer, like many others, over time has sold this picture very well, alas the final cut, is a mixed up bag of nuts and bolts that don't fit. I think it was probably shut down due to Covid and they just never found their feet, when shooting commenced. I like Mel Gibson, I think he has the potential for a few great films in him and I do not have an issue with Chris's wife, Ruth being black, unlike some on this board. I'm ready for a black James Bond, 2020 get over your bigotry. I did however find Marianne Jean-Baptiste's acting flat. It felt like she didn't want to be there. Why , oh why, did they build Walton Goggin's character, Skinny Man, up with an interesting hobby of collecting Santa's old Christmas presents just to drop it without explanation? Why did he buy and have shelves, of Santa's present's wrapped in plastic? He seemed to obsess over them in the first half of the film!? I think his appearance in the film with all the snow, playing an assassin is why people get that, Quentin Tarantino vibe. Django & Hateful Eight come to mind. It isn't a classic sadly and the army coming in to build panels for jet fighters!? What the heck? That's when you know it's turned the corner. It just doesn't make much sense after that. The centre can not hold. You'll probably watch it because, like me the trailer sold it but I should have known better. The trailer had the best bits in it. I did chuckle when Santa is calling around for help with the business and he's on the phone, trying to drum up business and says, "Elon this is Chris, what have you got for me?" Santa's little helpers have some good lines, the best is in the trailer and were not used to full effect. Elf 7, (Eric Wolfe.) was a solid actor. As others have said this could have been a great alternative, Christmas film but it fails badly. Such a shame!! Mel Gibson is the best part of it. Have a bloomin' lovely Christmas one and all. Let's hope 2021 is much, much better. I'm going to watch Klaus (2019), with my son, a far better experience of a disheartened, Father Christmas.

Guts, guts & more guts!
5 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I did enjoy this but would every situation they find themselves in, call for smashing their way to the guts, every time? It grabs your attention and doesn't let it go! I thought the zombie dinosaur was a little bit silly, Interested to see where season two takes us. If we stay where we are then it will get tired very quickly.
