The Core (2003)
What a disaster
THE CORE
This movie starts with a brilliant landscape of science- fiction action and finishes with a dull defeat. It starts with a space shuttle having problems landing, so they land in the middle of Los Angeles. The action, the visual effects and the music is good. Then Bostonians are dropping dead because their pacemakers go haywire, a vast flock of pigeons going berserk in Trafalgar Square, the Golden Gate collapsing and Rome reduced to rubble. After that, it's pretty predictable, boring and irritating. It made me want to leave the theater many times. After that The Pentagon recruits a team of scientists, a female NASA pilot and a computer nerd and five of them board a special machine designed by a hardcore geographer to transport a payload of plutonium to the earth's center. With no major stars present we can't be sure who'll die first. It's pretty clear, though, that the French geologist isn't going to make it - he's the wrong nationality and has a photograph of his lovely kids in his wallet. As in most films of this kind, the impending disaster isn't just God's doing - Cold War scientists are also to blame. I do not recommend this movie.
Pulse: A Stomp Odyssey (2002)
I loved that movie
PULSE: A STOMP ODYSSEY
This brilliantly filmed 40 minute movie made me smile for weeks, and understand the different cultures, traditions and beats of the world. It is a long journey of music, rhythm and sound through different continents and cultures uniting everyone. The movie is a pure pleasure for all senses; your body and mind travel all around planet Earth. You feel like dancing and singing while watching this incredibly pleasant movie. This IMAX film introduces us to percussion groups of American Indian Dance, Kodo drummers of Japan, Timbalada of Brazil , but it is inspired by STOMP from the New York Stage. This journey is incredible and if you don't have money or time to travel, just buy a ticket for the movie and you will experience all continents and many cultures in an hour.
The Hunted (2003)
Good action movie
The Hunted is a very exiting movie. From the very first frame it takes you for a ride, and adventure. How can you go wrong when you put two giants like Benicio del Toro and Tommy Lee Jones to battle eachother for one and a half hour? The guys play very naturally against eachother. It is fun to see Tommy as an old tracker, doubbling as trainer for special operations in the military, trying to be pacifist fighting the devil himself- Benicio as a psichotic serial killer triggered by combat history. The footage was in very appealing colors and it felt extremly real. You find yourself sitting in the woods, scared, waiting for an attack. It is really not the dialog that made the movie but the scenes in the begining sequence are one of the strongest I've seen this year. They made you grab on to your chair in the dark of the theatre.
