Forgettable

Warning: Spoilers
I saw the poster for the show with three actors that I like (Sam Neill, Annette Benning, Alison Brie), so I figured it can't be too bad).

The characters are portrayed as unlikeable rich brats, and I think from an acting point of view, they did a good job. One thing i don't understand is that they tell us that Sam Neill's character (the father) is Australian. So why does he fake a noticeably bad american accent?

Each character has his own set of problems, but it's nothing we haven't seen before.

Then there's the plot. The mother disappears, assumed murdered, and with the slow build up, all signs point to the dad. The police are portrayed as pretty incompetent, with all the "clues" just handed to them.

Then there's the last episode which makes it sooooo anticlimactic. The mother just decided to take a break from it all. That's it.

But it's the father's behaviour in the end that just makes it so unbelievable. Everyone thought you were a murderer. Your children, your friends, your house keeper, the police, the press. You were made to be the most evil villain in town. You spend time in jail. And then you just act like, oh it was nothing, let's just hug it out and get on with our lives where everything has been sorted out and is now great.

All that's missing is....
27 February 2024
All that's missing is Patton Oswalt's narration and you've got yourself an R rated Goldbergs.

Putting aside the few recycled jokes from Family Guy, and the occasional anachronism (I was 18 in 93 so these things sting when they get something wrong), It's a great show to watch.

The cast is great. The show looks great. The storylines aren't all that original(see my Goldber's remark), but the comedy is pretty solid. There are a lot of cameos from Seth Macfarlane's other shows, which makes it more enjoyable. If you like his sort of comedy, then you definitely should watch this show.

I gave it eight out of ten.

Watching Music History
29 January 2024
In 1985, We Are The World was huge. We saw the video over and over and over again.

We all had the album and listened to it countless times. It was on the radio non-stop. It was an immensely powerful song.

Watching this documentary and learning how the song came about and how they managed to get all the biggest names in Music together, it let me re-experience it all. Watching it was both nostalgic and entertaining. But also sad watching the great artists who aren't around anymore.

It's a Must See for anyone who was around back in '85.

And, after nearly 40 years, I finally learned why Prince wasn't there.
