Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
It's hard in Tinseltown for action films to get oscars; this one will contend.
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl is most extraordinary in its approach to tell a story based upon a Disney ride. The writer's imaginations moves the screenplay to a level comparable for Oscar consideration. The fine acting by Johnny Depp is unmatched for recent films featuring such action, and especially for swashbuckling. If you think that the action in the movie trailer intrigued you, just see how the whole venture takes you on a trip to Disney.
Every few years, Disney comes out with a winner. It's hard in Tinseltown for action films to get oscars; this one will contend.
This movie is a story in print that has come to life. You may surmise that the Blue fairy visited the set and blessed it royally. DLF
Amandla! A Revolution in Four Part Harmony (2002)
The music... is as powerful a force...
The music of "Amandla! A Revolution in Four-Part Harmony" is as powerful a force for the South African revolution, as Lucas would have us believe it is for the Jedi.
For our time, it also provides a near view of slavery. Thus, this motion picture is a must see not only for people of color, it is such for all the people to see. DLF
