LBJ (2016)
White-Washing a Criminal
The investigation of a crime always begets the question "who benefits?" The murder of JFK is no exception.
While this could be an interesting fictional story of a new president after the assasination of his former boss, it is meant to portray LBJ and it does so in a very positive light.
Nothing is said about his real personality and professional life. The movie is simply a fairy tale about a man who was the chief beneficiary of a heinous crime.
Read Roger Stone's "The Man who Killed Kennedy" for a highly documented true story of LBJ.
As a fictional movie it is entertaining, perhaps even gripping but the utter lack of historical facts about LBJs life puts this movie in the category of propoganda.
I'll give it three stars for being entertaining.
The Circle (2017)
A Dangerous Piece of Propoganda
"Mae" comes across as the most powerful person in the world. Men don't fare well. They're either disabled, wind up dead, or worrying about what's going to happen to them.
It's hard to judge if the producers of "The Circle" meant for it to be a warning to all of us, just an "entertaining" movie or a stimulant for feminists.
In any case, I don't recommend it unless you want to have bad dreams like I did after watching just half of the movie. Tonight I'm finished with "The Circle" and I'm hoping I will sleep well.
Frantsuzskiy shpion (2013)
Excellent fast-paced spy movie
This is a very good and authentic spy movie. Very plausible scenario and suspenseful with excellent acting. Authenticity and personal motivations are at the heart of this film.
It is fast paced and at least in the beginning the subtitles are a bit hard to read. The movie keeps you on your seat and holds you right up until the end.
2021 (2013)
Best Drama Movie I've Watched I A Very Long Time
I just finished watching 2021 on Amazon Prime. The movie is perhaps the most dramatic indie film that I have ever seen.
It is amazing to me how much drama can be packaged into a seemingly low-budget movie. It is truly a superb performance of the actors and a testament to the talent of the filmmaker.
Thank you for such a high quality cinematic experience.
Dragon Day (2013)
Invasion Day v. Red Dawn
Red Dawn (1984, starring Patrick Swayze) was an excellent movie with great acting and plausible plot.
Invasion Day (2013, AKA "Dragon Day") is all of that and much more-- a highly realistic and very frightening portrayal of would could very possibly happen in the United States.
As of 2351 hours GMT on August 8, 2016 the U.S. National Debt is in excess of $19.4 TRILLION USD. A trillion is 1,000 x billion.
In the movie, the U.S. cannot pay China the money it wants and you can guess what happens.
The film is not "big budget" and the actors are not recognizable stars but there are great performances and real drama in the movie.
Technology plays a central role in the movie. Even experienced survivalists can learn a thing or two from Invasion Day/Dragon Day.
