Fringe: Johari Window (2010)
Are you sure you know something you don't know?
It is interesting name of this episode "Johari Window" if you know about the idea behind of this theory. There are always four areas of matters that you know or you don't know:
1. Something you know and other people know (Open Area) 2. Something you know and other people don't know (Hidden Area) 3. Something you don't know but other people know (Blind Area) 4. Something you don't know and other people don't know (Unknown Area)
Any human being like any one of us are deemed to have hidden area and blind area though sometimes there are also unknown area, it is not really a matter of concern! Are we really want to move our Hidden Area to the Open Area, it is really a matter of our openness to our personal "public" relationship. Exposing something that we don't really want other people to know can be hard and shameful sometimes. However, when this hidden area is more and more transformed to an Open Area, we should have easier time to build up long time relationships with friends and family members. Along the similar thought, if we can ask for advice more often from our friends and family members, effectively we will shrink the Blind Area to the Open Area.
It is really a matter of Integrity we are talking about here. It is really hard to uphold Integrity if you keep your Hidden Area and Blind Area as big part of you life!
The challenging point of this episode is that do you really want to expose something that is not beautiful to you to people you care? On the other hand, do you really want to face the "ugly" side of fact of someone you care even you know the fact?
