If you had just one wish that would be granted, what would it be?
26 December 2020
I would wish that this movie was never made and I can get back 2 hours and 31 minutes of my life that I wasted watching this horrible movie. Written/directed by a woman it constantly bashes all white males as evil, stupid, predators. This movie is apparently derived from PC comics and the PC Universe. It's just unbelievably horrible compared to the first WW film and I have no clue what they were thinking!!?

Orange man bad! VOTE FOR BIDEN! Obama perfect, follow the science!!
17 November 2020
Totally biased from the left piece of junk which would air well on CNN or MSNBC 24/7. Speaking of the early days of COVID daily briefings only one of ours news networks would even show them (FOX) This documentary celebrates the World Health Organization (W.H.O) and especially CHINA and SOUTH KOREA's 'rapid response' to the virus. I just googled deaths from Covid today 11/16/2020. US - 246 thousand (out of around 331 million people). China has a population of around 1.5 billion people tightly packed into one country. China Covid deaths today? 4,634 (seriously?) South Korea population 51 million. Deaths? 464 Another reviewer stated this 'documentary' was financed by Netflix. I love good honest documentaries but this is like watching a Joe Biden campaign ad for 2 hours. They don't even interview Dr. Fauci who said don't wear a mask, wear a mask, seen in a ballpark 'not wearing a mask' and is now on the cover of VOGUE and probably Time Magazines man of the year soon. Watch at your own risk because you'll only see one view of this pandemic and who is ultimately to blame. But remember while watching this. Orange man bad! Vote for Joe!! p.s. I wear a mask but just want a good objective documentary and this imho is a 'hit piece'.

Captain Marvel has one small problem....
9 March 2019
It's just not a good movie. Just boring, hardly any action and seemed like nearly a two hour setup for several sequal's... This movie doesn't even compare to any of the legendary excellent Marvel Studio movies and doesn't even come close to DC's Wonder Woman. It's just waste of your time and money.... Wait until it comes out for 99 cents at a movie rental box if your interested. I can't believe it received a 6.8 rating on IMDB. I'd give it a zero but had to settle for giving it a 1 star rating.

'Poor Man's' remake of 'Jacob's Ladder'.....
30 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I love 'almost' every single movie that actor Matthew McConaughey is in.... He's the only redeemable reason to watch this film. I had the ending pegged midway through the film. It just wasn't a good movie but I sure wanted it to be one.... This is the first movie with McConaughey that I felt it was a waste of time but not his fault. Just a bad story/film and not worth watching imho...

Is it just me or do the British make the best WAR films ever?
23 October 2018
This is one of the very best WAR films I've ever seen and British of course once again. Without delving too deep and giving away 'spoilers of any kind' it's nice to see such a good WAR movie regarding Tobruk etc. A good portion of War movies are terribly sad depicting 'Man's inhumanity against Man' but this one actually show both perspectives of the 'good guys vs. the bad guys' and it makes you feel better by the movies end and shows 'Man's Humanity FOR other man' both sides. Watch it and you'll love it! Very tense, exciting, but you feel happy for 'all sides' by the end of the movie. I cannot recommend this old gem of a War movie enough!!

Totally Bad Movie but appreciate the 'effort' I guess?
22 October 2018
If you're younger than me remembering the original then enjoy this movie... for myself? I watched it for free and 'wanted my time and money back'... I'm not sure why this movie is getting such a high rating on IMDB but I think the large studios are throwing phony 'bots' at it daily imho. If you want to watch a really good movie check out 'Bad Day at the El Royale'.. Excellent Film!

After so many years of mediocre Moves what a Master Piece of a film! Solid 10!
14 October 2018
As a huge fan of Tarantino's 'Pulp Fiction' some reviewers are calling this film a 'rip-off' of that of that film. Sorry, but I disagree completely. They must be younger than myself at age 62. This movie at 2 hours and 12 minutes always had me guessing. Just like Pulp Fiction is jumps into each character future, past, and present. But unlike Pulp which is more comedic this movie is a really scary ride the further it gets! Hat's off to all of the actors on top of their game and all of the research that went into this period piece that takes place back to the Nixon days right down to yellow phones, FBI, orange lounge couches, and seedy old run down Vegas/California Holtel's! And the soundtrack is fantastic even involving Barry Gordy and the Muscle Shoals band backing up the singers back in the day and I hope that's not a 'spoiler' IMDB. Just such a dark scary interesting character study of lost and some really bad people imho and very very dark! p.s. After watching this movie I think we all pretty much know 'Who Chris Hemsworth is portraying'. Go watch it!!

DIE HARD WITH A PROSTHETIC!
23 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Not an awful movie and at 1:33 minutes sort of a time filler. But as others have stated this is basically a reboot of the much better Bruce Willis Die 1-3. My only question is what happened to all of the people below the building watching and cheering? Shouldn't the police have removed all of these people for safety reasons? It appeared that they were in front of the building looking up. Why wasn't anybody killed by falling building parts, exploded helicopters, flying bodies from hundreds of floors up etc.? It was o.k. but not too great and pretty predictable...

Annihilation (I) (2018)
10/10
One of the very best movies I've seen in a long time. Truly amazing!
24 March 2018
I see some negative reviews about Annihilation but but understand how differently people can understand a movie. I haven't seen a creative movie like this compared to all of the junk we see as of late. This movie is What did this movie remind me of? Hmmm, Claustrophobic like Predator (1st one), Alien (1st) where you don't know at first what is 'after you', and almost Stanley Kubrick like like 2001: Space Odyssey where you don't know where or when you are in time. Just watch it! It also will make you jump at least once or twice which is always fun. As of late we see #OscarsSoWhite or females complaining there aren't enough films with powerful females in the lead! All 5 leads in the film are female and do a fantastic job in their roles! If Hollywood wants to promote more female leads in their movies then start writing movies like Annihilation!! It took me until the next morning to finally figure out the ending which was kind of puzzling to me when it first ended. But I figured out the ending and it finally made sense. No spoilers of course by house rules! I gave this film a 10 out of 10 and I'm a male that loves sci-fi and horror movies of good quality, acting, special effects, characters and story. For some reason this movie went under my radar but glad I finally found it and watched it!!

One of the very Best Movies I've seen in a long time!!
4 March 2018
Is it just me or does any movie with actor Robert Forster in ever a bad Movie? Something about underrated Forster regardless if he's only in a movie for 5, 10 or 20 minutes makes it that much better! I bet Tarantino loves this movie! Kind of a 'film noir' movie about redemption with a great cast! I can't recommend it enough!

Was this movie set in the 60's?
25 February 2018
Is this actually based on a true story? Great acting but I couldn't care for any of the characters and they were just trash talking trash and racist on both sides of the spectrum. McDormand's character was laughable like an old 'Billy Jack' movie which I enjoyed more. All I can say is that if I had to live in this city Ebbing and things were like this? I'd move away as quickly as possible. The dialogue seemed completely Hollywood written and most of the scenes probably did not happen imho.

Best movie, writer, director, and actor in 2018!!
22 October 2017
I gave this movie a ten out of ten and believe it's one of the top 100 best movies ever made. I never cared for Vince Vaughn watching a few of his comedy movies when he was a slightly overweight guy playing like Will Farrel of some sorts but after watching the HBO mini series I noticed that Vince had his 'acting chops' and played his criminal bad guy character very well up against fellow actors Matthew Mcconaughey, Colin Farrel, and Woody Harrelson. In this film Vaughn is not the 'bad guy' that the Movie ad poster would make you think. This is a good honest man that starts plunging into the depths of Hades with no way out. I might be going out on a limb but I believe this entire movie is an allegory of the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm sure others caught that too. Yes, it's very violent but almost in a 'cartoonish way' but drives it's point home. I highly recommend this perfect winner and I believe Vince Vaughn and this movie will destroy at next years Oscars. Kind of unfortunate though since not really being a Tom Cruise fan especially after his last bomb 'The Mummy' I totally loved his last movie 'American Made'until I saw this movie! Bad Timing Tom et al. Go see Brawl on Cellblock 99 asap. You'll love it!! Not really a date movie unless your significant other isn't bothered by this type of film.

Very very good movie. slight spoiler alert tho' not too broad...
17 February 2015
I picked this up for rental on a whim since I'm a big Wiig/Hader fan from SNL. They were very surprisingly great in a very realistic film of sibling, parenting, sexual morals, silence within the family etc. with a horrible upbringing re: Mom and Dad issues etc. The movie starts from the very first scene with both fraternal twins (Wiig/Hader)on both East/West Coast attempting to kill themselves at almost the exact same second after not speaking to each other for a decade. I really liked this film and understand the rave Sundance reviews... Some people on IMDb say, 'It's too depressing'? Well, life/family is depressing too, but if you can survive life you'll do well afterwards. Very good film and I know Wiig is now established but Hader had some serious acting chops (probably refined from playing 'stefan' lol) I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to watch a serious dark film. (and you probably don't your younger children to view since this is definitely NOT a Comedy!) I personally have dealt with 3 suicides of loved one's always thinking I could have done something but you really can't. I'm absolved now of that slight guilt in the back of my mind. Watch this movie, if you're into Life and emotion, family, siblings, and just remembering High School, I think you'll love it!! And truly, Kristen and Bill are really great in it. (my humble opinion of course....) I liked the ending too.

Very good character study and period piece
28 March 2014
Within about 35 minutes within this movie it reminded me of 'Stand By Me'. One of my all time favorites. The two young actors are excellent and everything regarding their divorcing parents, life situation, growing up etc. are completely realistic. Some other IMDb posters complain that that this film is much too slow with not enough 'action'? I will gladly take slow character study over action explosions in other films. Tye Sheridan as 'Ellis'is fantastic! Matthew McConaughey is excellent as always too! Great performances all around. I really liked this film and highly recommend it to other film lovers. If you liked 'stand by me' as much as I did, It will not disappoint!

On a Sunny Scale I've got to give this a full 10
14 March 2014
At the start of episode Dee is drunk, eating, smoking, messy hair, no makeup, not bathing and basically near suicide. The gang says, 'Dee, you know what you look like' Dee drunkingly replies, 'I KNOW, A BIRD, I GET IT, I LOOK LIKE A BIRD!! What's hilarious (and what I love about 'It's Always Sunny')the Gang is completely oblivious to as why Dee is near suicide from lack of esteem? The Gang IS the cause of Dee's Pain! The gang has never once even treated her like a human or given her an iota of respect! The Best part of this episode is Kaitlin Olson's 'Dee Reynolds' performance whether she's doing stand-up jokes drunk on stage or all of the crazy sound effects she's making. Why hasn't she or this show Won an Emmy by now?? Why is it always low-brow humourless (imho) shows like 'Raymond' that wins? Anyway, Kaitlin (as Dee) in this show is excellent and shows all of her acting chops. The turnaround and Ending is hilarious, unexpected and just horrible!! I loved it! On a side note, Kaitlin Olson is very trim, nice figure, but slightly 'lanky'. I bet in real life when she was a teen in school everyone called her 'A Bird' out of cruelty. Boy, is she a Swan Now!! Mac is indeed a lucky Man! Charlie's real life wife 'The Waitress' ain't too bad either! It amazes me that 4 actors in a show that hate each other are married with children off-set. Might be therapeutic of some sorts?

Sterling Hayden VS his bottom Lip...
26 March 2012
Well, after reading the other reviews I have to concur that this movie is pretty darn horrible and boring. TCM is having a Sterling Hayden festival and unfortunately this movie was thrown in for good measure. Where did they get these Indians? Regarding another reviewers 'Review' of the 'School of Bottom Lip Acting' from Hayden, I started to find myself transfixed and staring at Hayden's bottom lip jutting out during the very slow arduous task of viewing the movie. At one point a young cavalry soldier asks Hayden 'should we stay and fight or retreat'. I expected Hayden to reply, 'Not sure, let me consult with my bottom lip'. Early in the film a dying cousin Andy comments to deserter Hayden, 'Surely there is still some good in you?' I expected Hayden to say, 'Nope, this ol' six-gun and bottom lip do the talking' for me..' o.k. well, actually it's the bottom lip that does the talking and the six-gun does the shooting but whatever'... Another annoying thing in his performance is Hayden seems to be faking a deep gruffy voice that makes him sound like Ted Baxter (Ted Knight) on the Mary Tyler Moore show. Lou!? Are any of you Indians named 'Lou'? Just avoid this film at all costs is all I can suggest.

People may disagree but I had to give it a full 10
4 December 2010
I love spaghetti Westerns but have never seen one filmed in 'snow-filled mountains' The long distance shots were fantastic and this must have been a grueling film shoot not only for the actors and crew, but especially the horses! When I'd see a horse collapse in the snow I thought, "I sure hope that 'no animals were harmed in the making of this film'! The horses were trudging though 3 - 4 feet of snow sometimes and there were a couple of 'snow-blind' camera shots where you couldn't even see anything. The gun shot sounds were the usual 'small cannon Italian gun echo'y sound' but that didn't bother me and is just standard in an Italian Western. Music was haunting and the dubbing wasn't bad at all. Throw in evil giant blue eyed psycho Kinski (playing the character 'Loco')and you've got yourself a hit! Lastly and most importantly is the ending. I can't say enough for the ending to this epic saga of good vs. evil. I just sat their astonished at the ending and realized that I don't think I've ever seen an ending that 'Realistic'!? I'm sure a lot of you would not agree (but some of you film fan purists would, and it threw me 'way off guard' but I came to like the ending and thought it really rang true! One of the best 'truest' Western endings I've ever seen! I don't want to give away any spoilers but seriously, I have never seen a film end in 'such a manner'. Stick with this movie and you will be rewarded. If not rewarded at least this movie will make you think or kind of bother you for a couple of days and those are my favorite kind of films!! Fantastic 1968 Film and glad I finally got to see it in 2010!

Talk about 'The Job from Hell'!!
23 August 2009
I don't know how many time's I've mentioned this movie at my job and find that no one has ever seen it!! This movie makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it. Cage wears sunglasses, smokes a cigarette in the office. Screaming 'Alva!! Alva!! jumping on a desk pointing and screaming 'THERE YOU ARE!!' Cage standing in front of two mirrors (and you can see his reflection in both of them) desperately asking, "WHERE AM I?? WHERE AM I??" Some other man in the bathroom pleading, "Hey, could you keep it down in here? I'm trying to take a Dump". Give this movie a chance people! The camera angles, the shadows on the stairs (definite homage to Nosferatu)and entire atmosphere make this movie a must see! I was so happy to see that's it's out there on Hulu dot com. http://www.hulu.com/watch/17460/vampires-kiss There's a ton of people that agree with me that this is probably Nicholas Cage's best performance. And even though 'It's only a movie' I feel so sorry for Alva and the torment she has to take at work/home. Luckily, It's just a movie folks! Watch this movie Dammit!!! I can't believe it only rated a 5.2 on IMDb. Probably a younger crowd voted for it and don't understand classic movies? Or maybe women voted low ratings on this movie because it reminded them of their Office Manager? LOL

The Sadist (1963)
8/10
This is one darn good 1963 thriller B-movie!!
24 April 2008
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished the movie 'The Sadist' and had never heard of it before. As others have mentioned I've always tried to stay clear of Arch Hall Jr. movies such as Eegah since seeing it multiple times on MST3K. 'The Sadist' starts out a little slow (and you feel like it's going to be another corny violent teens picture) but boy does it pick up by the end! Arch Hall gives the performance of his lifetime and the directions even different in a good way for movies of that era. I love how in some early shots you watch the hostages from the "Guns point of view". And this was light years before first person video games like Quake, Duke Nukem, Halo or the millions of other shooters out there.

There's two main reason I like this movie which is surprisingly violent for a B Movie made in 1963. *SPOILERS* 1. Once Charlie Tibbs starts killing/executing people hardly anyone (including the main characters!) get out alive! I actually felt bad when a main character was killed after you thought he'd make it out of there alive. You just never see this in an old '63 movie.... and 2. Our lovely heroine Doris doesn't fall down and twist her ankle! EVER! And that's while running for her life barefoot through hills and mountain desert terrain! Have I stated how much I just love this movie?! Not surprisingly I've heard it was one of Quentin Tarantino favorite cult movies. Folks, watch this movie and stick with it and I don't think you'll be disappointed!
