Gladiators Australia (2024)
Same events, same camp, same feeling
Fan of the original series from back in the day and the reboot has not changed anything at all.
It has the same campy characters and the same events. They are talking the same smack talk.
I do not care what anyone else says this show is just as so bad it's good as it was back in the 90s.
Can't wait to see more from the Gladiators as they slap around the cocky challengers. Just need the old Ref back and it will be like travelling back in time. Monday night is an interesting choice of the time slot though as it's a late night for the children to stay up and watch it all.
I just couldn't stop grinning like a kid throughout the entire first event!
Fast X (2023)
Mamoa
This was a fantastic entry into this franchise.
Jason Mamoa brings an energy to this roll like nothing he has done before and I would happily watch a spin off on just his character alone.
What ever the director has said to him it was the perfect direction for his character.
Cena also was on form making his character enjoyable to watch. No smell the poop acting in this entry for Mr Cena.
VD had a few moments that seemed like he was aiming for an Oscar level performance that just wasn't there and the rest of the ensemble did their normal schtick which had its moments throughout.
Furious 11 should be fantastic and Fast 12 will just be VD sitting on a still in front of a blank screen saying family with different inflections.
Spirited (2022)
Best A Christmas story and musical in years
Everyone in this movie seemed to genuinely have fun with the story and their characters. Reynolds and Farrell played perfectly off each other and the songs where just spaced out the right amount.
Sit back relax and enjoy the show people.
The "twist" is fantastically delivered and leads to one of my favourite songs in the entire movie.
My only negative is what was becoming the best song in the movie got interrupted and never ended.
Will definitely become a regular in the cycle of Christmas movies in our household.
Hopefully apple doesn't drive it into the ground with unnecessary sequels or spin offs like every other well made movie gets these day.
Meet Cute (2022)
What could have been a unique take on the time travel romcom
This could have been highly entertaining but was so flat from start to finish with a monotone performance from the two leads. At the time this movie should pick up and begin to explain what's been going on it just doubles down on the same thing over and over and over until you want to turn it off. Hanging in until the end for the sake of knowing how it ends is not worth it as it does not explain it. It is depressing and boring from start to finish.
The most uplifting scenes come as outtakes throughout the credits. Don't watch it, just avoid it because unlike this movie we can't get the time back that we wasted watching this movie.
Prey (2022)
This was exactly what we had been preying for....
As far as Predator movies go this one ticks all the boxes. Less about an intergalactic battle and more about a badass Hunter slaughtering things for sport.
The Princess (2022)
Princasskicker
This movie starts with a solid fight scene and keeps it up for the entire movie. It has as much story as it needs to have and for once the princess didn't need a hero to rescue her. She kicked ass the entire way through.
Reacher (2022)
Entertaining and funny in just the right places.
This show is fantastic. It's not full throttle action which is a nice change but it still goes where it needs to go. I hope they do a season two and beyond.
My wife started out by watching out of the corner of her eye snorting at my choice of meathead viewing and by the end was glued to the screen alongside me.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
First part in a larger story
Sure the rumours of He-Man not being the main character we're true but the story was still fantastic. It's five episodes of what will hopefully be a long story. Bring on season two!
Mulan (2020)
Modern adaption of a Disney classic
This was a solid movie with enough action to keep you entertained throughout. I missed some elements from the Disney classic but found this movie to stand up in its own two feet. There were a few nice nods to the original. If you just want a live action remake of the 98 animated then you might be disappointed. This is its own movie and should be treated as such. Where Disney failed with Aladdin they succeeded with Mulan.
