Demon Wind (1990)
Demon Wind Fog Effect
I must readily agree with most of the comments posted for this film. Incredibly lame, yet the camp appeal just can't be denied. My particular favorites are the gruesome twosome companions and the young female ghost crying out "you're mine!".
One question though about the demon wind fog effect - when they saw it coming, what would have happened if they had run to the trees and held on to them for dear life? Would the demon wind had been defeated? Or would the trees also had been transplanted? It would have been interesting to see if this theory had worked. I guess we won't know unless we can enjoy a Demon Wind 2.
Boat Trip (2002)
Best Comedy Video of the Year
What an incredible surprise this movie was. When I read the description about two guys going on a male "gay" cruise boat, it sounded totally unappealing to me. The fact that it was a gay cruise turned out to be very integral to the plot and made it most interesting. What caught my eye the most on this supposedly all male cruise, were the stunningly ravishing women on board - the sensational Roselyn Sanchez, the drop-dead gorgeous Victoria Silvstedt, and the rest of the tanned hotties. Right from the get go, there was hilarious laugh, after laugh, after laugh. I might add that the part played by Lin Shaye as Sonya the trainer, was comedic genius - if you like rowdy, sexual inclined humor, this movie does it for you!!
This movie you will either love or hate, depends on your personality and character. If you're Mr. or Mrs. Politically Correct, you will surely demean this movie as one of the worst ever made, but if you flat out just like sophomoric, sexual fare - this is it!
The King of Queens (1998)
Honeymooners Comparison
K of Q is one of the best shows on TV, period. I really enjoyed the episode where Kevin James did the takeoff on Jackie Gleason, he did it superbly. That reminded me that in many ways, King of Queens parallels the original Honeymooners, and that's probably why I like it so much. It takes place in an outerborough of NYC (Queens as opposed to Brooklyn), it involves an overweight central character who has a monotonous job where he drives, and he is married to a good looking woman (although I do have to say that Leah Remini borders on a great looking woman, she is hot).
I hope they stay true to form, as the original Honeymooners did, and that they stay a childless couple. To introduce a kid would really kill the great comedy they got going, and diminish the superb cast of supporting stars. I'd like this show to run for a few more years, as it still has plenty of gas.
Tickle Me (1965)
Underrated Elvis Flick
While not receiving the same fanfare as some of Elvis' more renowned movies including Viva Las Vegas or Fun in Acapulco, this film is really very underrated and underscores the essence of Elvis flicks. Perhaps because Elvis is not cavorting with a well known star, such as Ann Margaret or Ursula Andress as in the aforementioned vehicles, this picture tends to always get underplayed. Most memorable is the ravishing English star, Ms. Jocelyn Lane, who absolutely lights up the scenery whenever she is around - what a stunner!
3 Men and a Little Lady (1990)
Outstanding Sequel Far Better Than the Original
After being only mildly entertained by the first movie, I was absolutely awestruck by this sequel. There are many hilarious scenes, a love story triangle, outstanding scenery of the English countryside, and outstanding acting by the big "3 Men". I would have to rate this one of my Top Ten movies of all time.
This movie had no gaps or letdowns, and I could/can not stop watching it. I've easily seen it a dozen times or more, and just caught it again last week on Showtime.
Let me cite some of the extraordinary scenes in this flick. The Rap song by the Big 3 (amazing!), the Big 3's kitchen scene regarding the discussion of possible suitors for Sylvia, the bachelor's swinging NYC party scene (Selleck's blonde was a major fox!) Fiona Shaw's pursuit of Tom Selleck in the Pileforth Academy, and the ending's madcap frenzy!
What a movie!
