The Black Demon (2023)
Overall not the worst movie ever made.
I'm from Texas. I can tell if a movie was filmed in the Dominican Republic versus Mexico. So many of the background townsfolk were clearly not Mexican lol.
The movie was definitely suspenseful...very atmospheric in some parts.
I did enjoy the chemistry between the Sturges family. They were a delightful aspect early on.
However, leaving your wife and children in a foreign town that's basically deserted and full of men.... NOT very smart but it moves the plot along.
The whispering voices/spiritual aspect of didn't work for me.
The end revaluation surprised me but it ties everything together.
Overall not the worst movie ever made.

Epic... Ml
One of the best comedies I've seen in a while. Hilariously funny without even trying. I truly laughed sooo much.
Loved the constant illogical heroics and death defying tricks alway just in the nick of time.

America's Test Kitchen (2000)
I Miss....
I greatly miss Christopher Kimball. He was the main reason that I watched and everyone else was just a wonderful bonus. He had such a chill presence. Always cool, calm, and unflappable. He was also an incredible treasure trove of general knowledge and steered the show perfectly! I admired his confidence. Since he has left the show I cannot seem to take a consistent interest in the revised version. It still has many of the same great chefs/personalities and the recipes seem good. Julia and Bridget are still wonderful co-hosts and are very witty! I have tried, but regardless, I think it's still a great show and I hope it continues on successfully. I'm thrilled Christopher has returned to television on the Roku Channel.
Prey (2022)
Best Idea This Franchise Had Seen In a While
Easily the most original take then the trash that's been rolled out recently. I read that the director wanted a Ripley vibe like the Alien franchise and I think they did admirably! Good action, gruesome and bloody as is expected, and interesting telling the story from the view of a Native American woman. You should watch it with the Comanche voice over instead of the English version! Gives the movie more authenticity(thought that was a brilliant idea for the producers to include).
Barney & Friends (1992)
3.9?! The negative reviews are BS.
This show was a classic. It helped children learn to count, their ABCs, how to be polite, deal with anger, illness, death, disappointment, use their imaginations. Soooo many topics were covered by this show and in a loving and kind way that children could understand. People are complaining that the music was repetitive, or the show was too silly and maybe so when you see it as an adult because it was for CHILDREN not adults! Of course you wouldn't find that appealing as an adult now but that doesn't mean you low rate the show.
How can you review this show from an adult perspective if you watched as a child. How did it move you as a child? What did you learn from it as a child? I feel like people are reviewing this show based on their internet-driven negativity. Nowadays if you don't have something negative to say, then you have nothing to say at all. It's as if nothing good has ever happened to this generation once they start talking about it on the internet.
SAS: Red Notice (2021)
Just Meh....It's no Bond
I got an hour into it and just lost interest. I definitely couldn't give it another hour of my time. It's unnecessarily long by the way.
I can't put my finger on exactly what's lacking. Maybe it's the pacing of the story? The script? There are a few funny moments and witty British dialog. A lot has happened but I can't remember what and an hour in and I don't know where the story is supposed to be heading. I'm just confused. Sam Heughan needs a better agent to find him better roles. He's too good for the crappy movies he always seems to pick. And can I say that Ruby Rose attempting to play scary and menacing is laughable in every movie she's in. It's so obvious that she's TRYING to be tough. She's no Angelina Jolie.
I can already guess who the trader is that's feeding intel to the Swans and it ain't the obvious black guy army commander or whatever his name is.
Tiny House Nation: Tiny Digs for Racing Pigs (2019)
My favorite episode from that season.
Carol and Charlie were so awesome! They were friendly, personable, funny and warm people. They're perfect for reality TV. I mean "Angelina Sowlie", "Brad Pig", "Jennifer Hamiston", and "Roseanne Boar"!? I almost spit out my Sprite.
I loved their emotional reactions to all of the bells and whistles. They made me tear up a few times. They're very low maintenance people so you could see that they genuinely appreciated all of the beautiful changes the team made. I wish them the absolute best. Friend Jimmy was a blast too!
Blood Red Sky (2021)
Unique Vampire Movie
The most original vampire movie I've seen in a long time. It definitely didn't go a single direction I assumed it would. It's bloody, violent, and really tense and creepy at times helped by the dark enclosed airplane setting.
I very much enjoyed this Netflix production. But did they get ALL of the vampires though...
Fear Street: 1994 (2021)
Bloody and Gory So That's Good.....but A Bit Infuriating
Decent horror movie and I always love to see the 90s recreated in cinema. My issue was the teenagers making the most idiotic decisions and it drove me just about crazy. I was so annoyed that I just fast forwarded thru the last 13 minutes until I got to the final 3.
I mean why not stand around and debate as the killers advance within a foot of you and THEN run, or completely stop what you're doing to have underaged sex.......while undead murderers are actively hunting for you and can show up at any moment.
And if the possessed killers are attracted to her blood why do you have to smear it on your clothes and wear it? Putting yourself at risk to be killed. They've pretty much ignored you thru most of the movie so why make yourself a target when they are clearly only after one person? Just soak a shirt in her blood, leave it like a hundred miles away so that the killers wonder off in the wrong direction, stop the girl's heart, bring her back and be done.
I'm still very much interested in the next 2 movies in the trilogy.
Kevin Can F**k Himself (2021)
Brilliant Concept!
A deeper exploration of the stereotypical good natured and easy-going sitcom housewife. In sitcom lore, yes she is upon, but she happily accepts it. No matter her husband's antics in the end she always loving and forgiving. The perfect wife. Not this time....
This shows premise is so intelligent and unlike anything that I can remember seeing on TV. Allison is tired. Her existence is dull and she's become painfully complacent in life and marriage. She's visibly unhappy and is nearing her breaking point thanks to a selfish, neglectful, immature man-child of a husband. He never grows. He's exactly the same as he was in high school only older, which makes him even more pathetic.
The series is shot like two different television shows: in one half of the same scene its bright, clean, and roomy like the set of a comedy (laugh track included). In the next instant and from Allison's perspective, it's grimy, dark, and small. Real life. A stark difference!
In Kevin's world all is perfect and he's always catered to. In Allison's world she's ignored mistreated and woefully under appreciated. Hence the difference in atmosphere.
I'm only on episode 2 but the show is supposed to explore Allison's journey as she figures out who she really is and what she wants out of life. She will finally make Allison a priority! Can't wait.

Balle perdue (2020)
Definitely Enjoyable!
This is a stripped down, enjoyable, gritty action movie.
The primary plot of the movie is about a petty criminal that witnesses an execution and is then framed for it. Of course the evidence to clear him is still our there...our hero just has to get to it and then get it to the right people...in one piece. Let the fun begin.
This movie doesn't have a lot of special effects or big budget action sequences, but what you get will make your heart race, hold your attention and may even make you laugh (I spied a few humorous moments throughout)! The fight style is fast and brutal with hand to hand combat, punching, kicking, and using WHATEVER is within reach to gain the upper hand (from a cop's own pepper spray to a riot shield). Several aspects of the movie are definitely over the top but that just makes it all the more fun. #Fiction.
There is not a lot of exposition in this movie. You get little to no background on who these characters are or exactly how they know each other, which is fine by me. I enjoyed this more than I expected and would recommend watching. I preferred the original French audio with English subtitles buts it's also dubbed in English as well.
Floor Is Lava (2020)
FUN LOL
This is a show that I never knew I needed. This was fun and funny, which makes it a winner for me. Its soooo unpredictable. The host gave me plenty of LOL moments with his commentary. I loved that there are different room designs so you won't get bored watching them complete the SAME course for 10 episodes straight.
As others have said it can be frustrating watching the players figure out the course, because they eat up so much time, but you can blame that on the editing as well. A lot of useless content could have been cut so that it doesn't drag at times. Future contestants are already watching and learning that you need teamwork and QUICK strategy and that time is against them. I think season 2 will have better prepared contestants which should cut down on the amount of time wasted. The current rating is ridiculous. The show isn't THAT bad.
The Witcher: Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials (2019)
It All Makes Sense Now
This was the episode where it all clicked for me. The multiple timelines, the out of sync storytelling and how they are playing into one another. Once I realized that ....the show vastly improved for me! This episode explains the Law of Surprise, why it was invoked, how it binds Geralt and Ciri to each other and why the pull towards one another is unavoidable. As someone new to the Witcher world I found this episode to be quite fun and intriguing and it sets up the rest of the season.
The Witcher (2019)
I am now a Witcher fan.
I've never played the games or read the books but I still knew of The Witcher world simply because it is such an insanely popular game.
I'll admit that for me the first 2 episodes were some what confusing because I didn't realize they were on different timelines and that events were unfolding out of order. Key pieces of information is intentionally left out of episode 1, but by the end of episode 8 all those pieces are put into place beautifully and you see the big picture. I ended up appreciating the fact that the writers didn't spoon feed me exposition. I actually had to pay attention to what people were saying for instance "Princess" Calanthe instead of "Queen".
The acting by everyone involved was phenomenal! These cast pulled me in 100%. Ciri's tearful goodbye to her grandmother was so heartbreaking. Yennefer's journey to overcome her physical deformities and gain power, then realizing it still isn't enough to make her happy. I have so many more examples of the wonderful acting.
The cinematography is beautiful and oh my God the fight scenes are truly a work of art and really get the blood pumping!
I didn't give it a 10 because I think there is an issue with pacing how the plot unfolds in some episodes but it's only the first season and those are issues that can be corrected if they listen to their audience.
Episode 8 definitely left me wanting and I am looking forward to season 2 with so much excitement for what's to come. And I hope to God it's more than 8 episode!
I'm on my 1st re-watch and the show is even better for me. I can say without a doubt that this is my new favorite show.
John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum (2019)
WHEW! I'm Breathless!
This movie is a 2 hour adrenaline shot to the heart. Non-stop action scenes. I clocked one at 6 minutes straight and another at 25 minutes!
The cinematography is gorgeous! I remember thinking how perfect the filming locations were. They really set the mood and tone of the movie. Slick, dangerous, and exotic. The fight/action sequences are what makes this series so special. Not a lot of special effects or distracting CGI. Mostly just brutal and elaborately choreographed hand to hand combat that is near exhausting to watch. I don't know how 54 year Keanu does it! This is hands down the best of the series so far and I CAN'T WAIT for Wick 4 in 2021. If you enjoyed 1 and 2 then you should absolutely love Chapter 3.
Hellboy (2019)
I Don't Recommend
For me the story telling was not very fluid and I felt kind of lost. I don't follow the comics but that didn't stop me from enjoying the 1st Hellboy movie. I constantly felt like I was missing important backstory in this version and with the movie being 2 hours long it should have had time to bring us non-comic readers up to speed.
Moviegoers seemed disengaged and no laughed during what was supposed to be comedic moments. I was never drawn in. It was a struggle for me to sit through it and I found myself wishing it would hurry up and end. 3 people actually left an hour into the movie.
I love David Harbour, and he was okay in this role but not enough to save this move. I don't listen to critics because I like to experience movies and arrive at my own conclusions but this time I think they were right and I REALLY wanted them to be wrong.
