28 Days Later... (2002)
Good...but overrated
Yes, I said it was overrated. Yes, this is a good film, with some disturbing, downright terryfing scenes. I guess it might just be from watchind dawn of the dead before this, but it doesn't seem too great. THe plots nothing new, and the hamheaded military guys theme seems too rehashed. Also the 'visual style' isn't to appealing to me, I hate not being able to focus on whats going on.
Anyway, nothing ad, but nothing great, still a very solid zombie movie, or any movie for that matter. ***1/2 out of *****

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
Insipiring.
Dawn of the Dead is the greatest zombie movie ever made. period. But what about greatest horror? Hmm...I jumped really only once during the movie (understand I didn't see it in the 70's) I'm sure this was very shocking in the 70's as there is A LOT of gore, especially near the end.
But to me this isn't really a horror movie as it is a brilliant story. It's harder to get immersed in any "visual effects" because now the zombies might look plain cheesy. But as one reviewer pointed out it's George A. Romero's take on Louis XVI, keep the starving masses at bay (looking the doors to the mall, blocking the parking lot with semi-trucks) while indulge in royalties (All the stores to themselves, they can help themselves to anything they want). The story is just brilliant, I wish Ideas like this still came out in hollywood, the fact of four strangers living in a shopping mall while the outside world collapses is very immersing. The characters are well to uneavenly developed (the swat people beng the most developed) but it works. I didn't feel a world of sad when a character would die, but still it works. There are lot of underlying themes here, the most obvious being the zombies walking around the mall. Another one I noticed was mans agressive nature, during the whole attack on the mall scene (the goriest sequence in the film). The biggest effect on me from this film was a love for filmaking, not just movies.

Final Destination 2 (2003)
Final Destination= Atmosphere Final Destination 2=gore
Okay, I liked the first one, I thought it was good, i think it was a hidden horror gem, there were some problems, but it sure was creepy! Then, I rented the second one, wow, this had none of the things I liked in the first one (okay maybe some). The first scene plays out very well, but I hated the guy on tv talking about death (only the kids should know, nobody believed them in the first). The car crash is excellent, creepy and atmospheric, and after that it goes downhill. The frequent prominations are annoying (what happened to the signs?) and most deaths are way too stupid and gory (The fence part, The kids death..) and the when Claire opens the door and gets charred, the fx they put in looks horrible! This has none of the original FD goodness (whats with all the prominations? Is she psychotic?). It does tie up some lose ends, but really creates more than that. Plot hole example: When the druggie saves that other kid, (wait, why is a ambulance headed straight for him??) and he um dies um later, does that mean everyone who almost gets killed will die later???). Well I'm done with my rant.

Soldier (1998)
Take another look
Most people like to trash this movie without seeing it. Its turns out preatty good. it's no oscar contender, but great for it's genre. You got very good emotions from Kurt Russel, considering he says maybe only 50 words, but this comes off preatty good. The beginning was excellent, very disturbing, the ending could have been better, but still I never felt like I had scene it somewere else. The main character resembles Alex from A clockwork orange, he changed, not in a dramatic way, but slowly. But hey, rent it, and don't expect Blade Runner or Minority Report! You should really watch it if you are instristed in action or sci/fi
The Deer Hunter (1978)
Well D0ne
A very good movie that about , friends. I'm not talking about that stupid 'sitcom' or whatever you want to call it, I am talking about real friends, and what happens to them after their experiences in Vietnam. The acting is superb, the chemistry between the actors is just there, and it has some of the most intense moments in the history of cinema (i.e. russian rulette scenes). Fully deserved the best picture award. Now I usually don't write much for reviews, but this one had me going. On my top 20, maybe even top 10.
Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun (1999)
goOD
This a cool Strategy game that improves gameplay a lot form the first one. THe graphics are good, and the CImeatics are fun, and range from good acting (Micheal Beihn, James Earl Jhones) to poor (some supporting actors) THe ating is mediocre. But it is enjoyable.
Hollywood Homicide (2003)
7 out of 10
Suprisongly Good. The sub plots are actually intristing and fit into the story better then usual. The main story drags on and is predictable but is made up for some really funny stuff, especially the end car chase, which was hilerious and exciting. Note that when i first saw the trailer I thought it sucked. 7 outta 10
