Sense8 (2015)
Amazed at the bigotry on here!
It is insane how many people on here that have written bad reviews on this show, have given superficial reasons as to why their rating is so low. The main reasons that I am seeing listed: the show is placed into the wrong genre (sci-fi), the show is agonizingly slow, there is too much sex/gay sex, among a few other things that seem more like personal preferences than anything else.
This show is meant to be suspenseful, a story told in our modern world, with one small sci-fi twist. It has beautiful story-telling about real world problems that real people face on a day to day basis. The show was meant to be 5 seasons long, so I'm sure the directors believed they had time to stretch out the character building in the first season. There are eight main characters, for crying out loud! Not to mention all the supporting characters for each main character and the villainous antagonist group.
The plot involves eight individuals around the world who are "born" sensate all at the same moment. They find they can delve into each other's minds, not just mentally but physically. They begin to learn about each other's lives and the different cultures they live among (yes, each scene is filmed in its respective country, unlike most other shows that either use a green screen, animation, or a place that looks similar). These interactions between each character leads to some most amusing scenes and some very emotional ones, as well. The show makes you fall in love with each and every character in their own way (ask me today, after watching every episode, I still cannot pick my favorite one). I'm not one to give the story away, you just need to take my word for it, an all-genre loving movie/TV freak who knows a good show when I see one.
It is a shame that this show was cut short, and the series finale had to be rushed to an end. I believe, even with the time they were given to make this finale, they still were able to crunch out a nail-biting, edge of your seat ending that seemed to tie everything up with a neat bow, and that didn't seem too entirely rushed.
To touch base on the too much sex/gay sex, are these people lacking confidence in their sexuality? The sex scenes were beautiful, and at times, yes, a little orgy-ish. But what it so bad about that? Sex is a beautiful thing, and these scenes were done with much more finesse than some other shows that show demeaning moments and where women are put on display. I just don't understand why some people are so against this, and the show itself.
I think everyone should give this show a sit down and even, dare I say it, learn a little something about the world we live in. I stress again that this show touches on some very strong issues in the world, and I applaud it for being strong enough to bring those issues to light. Just get over the genre classification! Here, I'll say it here, this show is in a genre all its own.
Nana (2006)
I love this show!
This is such a great show! I had first read a few manga of Nana and then became very excited to hear that they made it into a TV show. It's a show that I can easily relate to the main character Nana Komatsu. This may contain spoilers.... . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The ending of the show really left me with a lot of questions. I am in the process to see if there are more manga than episodes so that I can further my answers. Just be prepared to be left a little upset after you watch the show because its so frustrating that there are so many unanswered questions!!!! I will try to post anything more if I find more out for you viewers!! Can't wait.
