A child of the 60's, 70's and a teenager of the 80's, My muscial tastes are stuck here although I do try to like Industrial and Electronica too such as the wonderful Olivia Tremor Control(very beatles-esque in the vein of early XTC) and favourite movies( too many to list) so I'll list genres..Meryl Streep, Comedy( think John Hughes and Kevin Smith), Horror( think Evil Dead)Concert Films( think "The Wall") and Film Noir(think "Mildred Pierce"...need I say more????) So feel free to send posts, emails, telegrams, etc. as I have a strange loyalty to fellow "Streepies"
Favourite books: One True Thing and French Lieutenant's Woman and The Orchid Thief(oddly enough Fave Meryl films: OTT, FLW and Adaptation)
Fave tv show: Frasier and The Simpsons
Fave Meryl Moment: during the 2004 GG's and she said:" I JUST realised you can completely see through my dress" and "To Roy Helland, who does his best to destroy my natural good looks..."
Best friends in the entire world: Jennifer and Michele and of course Mary Louise Streep....Also to add the wonderfully quirky unmellow yellow and jenjen uk too!

One Special Night (1999)
A Wonderful Holiday Film
Sick and tired of watching It's A Wonderful Life? try this then as a v v suitable replacement! Julie Andrews and James Garner are very well matched in this delightful and sometimes bittersweet film about two people who become stranded in a snowbound cottage for"One Special Night" as they themselves put it.
Julie Andrews gives an Oscar worthy performance as Catherine and same with James Garner as Robert, two people who find love, without really looking for it as two recently widowers....
Not wanting to spoil this film for those who have not seen it, I can just say in closing that if you do not cry at least once during this film, you do not deserve to call yourself a human being...
The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981)
Possibly The best Meryl Streep film...
Short and sweetly, The movie holds up surprisingly well for an early 80's film and the DVD is a must for those who haven't seen it since..
Meryl Streep plays two roles as Sarah, The French Lieutenant's Woman of the title and Anna, the actress playing Sarah. I recommend trying to find the novel written back in 1970, as it fills in alot of gaps in the character of Susan. Relatively quick paced, the story within a story(kind of like Adaptation)method is used well here and I highly suggest viewing this film for all "Streepies" out there( you know who you are).
