Lost Heart (2020)
"Lost Heart" movie -- a bright light in 2020!
"Lost Heart" is a wonderful story about redemption and the mystery of forgiveness. Actress Melissa Anschutz delivers a magnificent performance as Hannah Sweet, a disillusioned (bitter) country music superstar on a downhill roll. When Hannah learns of her abusive father's passing, she returns to her hometown to "face the music" from her haunted past.
With the help of a caring pastor (Donny Most) and a loving, supportive mother (Victoria Jackson), she is able to begin the healing process from her abused childhood. Watch for Melissa Anschutz and Victoria Jackson turn in terrific performances that will certainly touch you, The elements of an excellent screenplay and breathtaking cinematography round out this splendid story that is sure to steal YOUR heart!
Tapestry (2019)
"Tapestry" is a heartwarming film not to be missed!
"Tapestry" is a touching story that will resonate with viewers. A modern retelling of Job, it clearly shows that no one is immune to the trials and tribulations in life. Actors Stephen Baldwin, Tina Louise and Burt Young held my attention throughout and I also enjoyed the story penned by Rob DePalo. The visuals at the beginning and end of the film were "heavenly" (sorry---I couldn't resist) as well as the use of "angels" in this tale. Check out this wonderful film for yourself and be blessed in the process!
Let There Be Light (2017)
"Let There Be Light" truly shines!
"Let There Be Light" is a terrific faith-based film that takes the viewer (through the eyes of the lead character) from the depths of despair to the heights (and glory) of Heaven.
Dr. Sol Hearkens is an atheist who successfully spreads his message of spiritual disbelief through seminars and books. He has a large following and is well paid for his appearances. Despite some underlying emotional issues yet to be revealed, he appears to have it all: money, women, fame, and everything in between. So what's the problem?
Dr. Hearkens, like many of us, has to maintain some modicum of "keeping it together" in spite of the tragic loss of his child, his subsequent divorce and his struggle with alcohol abuse. At first glance, it appears that the perks of success and fame far outweigh the challenges of life and he seems determined to keep on keeping' on. Unfortunately, his emotional house of cards is crashing down and then...he dies. (Well, not exactly.) Dr. Hearkens undergoes a "near-death experience." You can sort the details yourself but I will say that this tragic event could be a blessing since he is forced to reconsider his position about the existence of God. So what is he to do now with his new-found spiritual perspective?
He loses his credibility as an atheist which obviously affects his livelihood. He also has to confront a new and extremely serious family issue. 'Nuff said---I don't want to spoil it for you!
I believe this is actor Kevin Sorbo's first directing gig and it's a "herculean" effort but he does a splendid job. The acting (and tension) between Sol and his wife Katie, (played by Sam Sorbo) is truly engaging---both heart-wrenching and tender. The chemistry between them drew me in and kept my interest throughout. I could relate to their pain and circumstances (and judging by the other sniffles heard in the theater, I believe others were captivated as well).
In "Let There Be Light," even the appearance of a special guest lends tremendous credence to the story, but be sure to give your full attention to the last ten minutes of the film. You won't want to miss a very poignant moment shared by Kevin's and Sam's characters, their family and friends.
I think you'll enjoy "Let There Be Light" as I did, simply because this is a film that truly shines!
God's Not Dead (2014)
"God's Not Dead" should NOT be missed!
"God's Not Dead" is an amazing faith-based film and should NOT be missed! This awesome production really resonated with me and I enjoyed it immensely. As the title suggests, this film delivers an inspirational, uplifting message: God is NOT dead---He's surely alive! We know exactly what we're getting when we watch this movie and I welcome it. This project is supported by some incredible music, a great script and superb acting. Thank you Pure Flix Entertainment for this terrific production. If films like these are considered "propaganda," then please keep 'em coming!
Pieces of Easter (2013)
Pieces of Easter drives home an inspirational message!
PIECES of EASTER is a heartwarming, family-friendly film produced by Kelly's Filmworks. This movie is so appropriate to have been released around the Easter season. Jefferson Moore (The Perfect Gift, Another Perfect Stranger) shifts from his portrayal of Jesus to become Lincoln, a rugged "hermit" (as characterized by Alza Reese, played by newcomer Christina Karis).
When Alza's car breaks down in a VERY small backwoods town, she reluctantly hires Lincoln to drive her to her family's Easter reunion some three days away. The interactions and situations which follow are hilarious, thought-provoking and uplifting. Christina Karis is fantastic in her debut film and Jefferson Moore, always a solid lead actor, capitalizes on his resemblance this time to---sorry, you'll just have to watch the film. I enjoyed PIECES of EASTER and I know you will too!
