Last Action Hero (1993)
Dear, oh dear....
I had never seen this, and since I will be without Arnold films for a while since he pledged to terminate Gray Davis, I rented this...I am truly at a loss for words and cannot describe how bad this film is. I don't know where it started, but I'd have to say when this film was green-lit or given the go-go-go it was all down hill from there.
Splash (1983)
Fun, Fun, Fun
A fun movie if you like seeing the images of when Daryl Hannah was a true piece o resistance! Tom Hanks was great and you could see, even in this quirky show that he was (as well as Ron Howard) on their way to great things.
Bad Boys II (2003)
A Good Ride
Okay, when you go to a film like this, you know in advance what you are usually going to get...a weak story - but man, the action was at the top of the game! Definitely a film worth seeing on the big screen - a tad long, but a great spectacle.
A Sight for Sore Eyes (2004)
They have my vote.
I must admit, I hate shorts. But this one's an exception. A friend of mine screens content for a film festival here in Los Angeles and I was at his office when he put this one up and I (we) were truly impressed. The production quality, the cast of characters, the locations, sound, editing and direction was all top notch, (not a common thing in shorts). It's a very touching story that was well handled and I think this film will launch the careers of those involved to a whole new level, (being most of the names are unknowns). Gary Busey was a nice touch as well, a very different role for him - (he might want to do more films like this in the future).
Mountain Tops (1981)
Unbelievable Spirit!
A guy in a wheelchair, (who was shot at age 4 by his own mother) and is crippled from the waist down climbs a 13,000 foot mountain in the High Sierras. Once you get past the facts of the tragedy your heart opens up for this guy and you can't stop the tears and the cheers. A true winner.
Desperate Passage (1987)
BEST REALITY FILM OF ITS TIME
Watch out Scared Straight - Desperate Passage is the real deal! There are no actors or coaxed cons trying to seem tough for the camera. This is the first REAL look into today's "throw away" kids as they are here referred to. Real armed robbers, murders, you name it. They open up and for the first time we hear the heart cry of today's troubled youth. No wonder it won 4 Emmy's and it was a great final project (or close to) for Michael Landon. Bless you, Mike!
Destiny of Peace (2003)
A MUST SEE
For all of you afraid that the end is near, put this little jewel into your DVD player, sit back and relax. People from all over (races religions, etc) come together in this video and share the love that proves there is ONE God! Beautiful camera work and a great concept in the days of a pending war with Iraq. Marla Maples ain't too hard on the eyes either.
Carman: The Champion (2001)
Rocky Who?
For a 3 million dollar film, they put it all on the screen. The fight scenes were second to none and I mean to NONE! The final fight, (the only one, really) was so well choreographed and edited it made the fight scenes in Rocky look like B-movies! A tad on the religious side and not the most original story, but considering what they had to work with I was very impressed! A must rent.
