Nip/Tuck (2003–2010)
Graphic, disgusting, vile. . . I love it!
22 July 2003
Nip/Tuck is now one of my favourite new shows. Why? Because it is a fun, hip new show on a usually drab, boring week night. I was getting so tired of the 7th Heaven and the Everwood. Now that Buffy has gone off the air, I have been looking for something to replace it. Well, Nip/Tuck is it. Yes, the show is has graphic gore and sexuality but, hey. . . who doesn't like that? But, really. . . if you need something to do on Tuesday night, watch Nip/Tuck. You won't be disapointed.

What has Scorsese created? --- Nothing spectacular at all
24 June 2003
Back in December, I couldn't wait for this film to be released. When I finally went to see it with a friend of mine, I just knew it was going to be worth the wait. . . but, sadly, I was wrong. This movie could have turned out as an absolute masterpiece, but it was butchard. I'll break it down:

I had absolutly no complaints about the acting. It was, indeed, supurb. Leonardo DiCaprio is wonderful. Though, I was expecting so much more from Daniel Day-Lewis. The way everyone was talking about him, saying that is was a preformance that will never be forgotten. I forgot it right when I left the theater. I am not saying that he did a bad job, but certainly did not deserve awards.

The screenplay is the solid basis of a movie. Without a good script, you will not have a good movie (regardless of who is directing it.) Gangs of New York had a VERY bad script. It had no plot twits at all. Nothing to keep a viewer hooked. Nothing. The diolouge was flat. It just seemed to run on for the length of the movie. And the so called "love" in the movie. What love? It was two confused people who wanted to take out all of their sexual frustrations out on eachother.

But the worst thing of all is the editing. Nothing seems to flow together at all. It is just one jumbled mess, that shows nothing. Really! One minute two people are talking and the next two woman are haveing graphic sex with eachother. THE MOVIE MAKE NO SENSE!

I don't think people really watch this movie. I think that they just see the name Martin Scorsese and just say is was great. Well, I really think that Scorsese did a bad job, as did the writers. This movie will not live on as Taxi Driver or Mean Streets did. It is really not worth your time of seeing this movie. Really, it isn't. If you rent it you will just be wasting five bucks because you will probably just shut it of anyway. Because I don't think that anyone can stand watching a worthless movie for two hours and forty-four minutes.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! 2/10 (it got a two just because of the acting...and for pity)

A woman's life is never easy
24 June 2003
There are three performances that I consider the greatest of all time: Ellen Burstyne in Requiem For A Dream, Jodie Foster in The Accused, and Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice.

I was not sure wether I wanted to see this film or not. I read the novel by William Styron, and was not too pleased with it. But, I finally rented it and was very pleased that I did. This is one of those rare movies that is superior to the book. It is amazing!

The entire plot is amazing. There is so much mystery surrounding Sophie and her love Nathan, that you are forced to keep watching until they're lives unravel before you. Meryl Streep plays Sophie in one of the greatest performances of all time. She is so good at her role that you don't even relize that it is Meryl Streep (an actress) you are watching, but Sophie. You embark on the journey of Sophie's hard life. Hard is not the word. There is no word to descibe the horrors that she has been through. Meryl Streep is completly flawless.

You will never understand what I mean until you watch this movie. You will love this movie and love Sophie. You won't be able to take your eyes off the screen up until Sophie makes her heartbreaking choice that you will not believe. WONDERFUL! 9/10

Why do people say this is so bad?
14 June 2003
Okay, I saw this movie a couple times. Once in theaters and once on video. I don't mind it at all. I think it is much better then House on Haunted Hill. I usually don't get scared too easily, but it is something about little kids. And I think that the little girl in this movie is scarier than the Ring child. This one is in all white and is just so freaky!

The movie is basically about a website that if you visit it, then a little girl will come and kill you in a week. Hmm . . . maybe it did rip off Ringu. But, there are some shocking scenes in it. It just really wasn't that bad of a movie. Well, a horror movie. So, one night if you're in the mood it be frightened, rent this. (if all copies of The Ring are gone.) 6 out of ten. *Remember that it is a horror movie. I am rating this on scare value, not the acting or story or anything. It is good entertainment!*

The best mini series since "If Tomorrow Comes"
14 June 2003
I just bought the DVD, and watched all 7 hours in a row! I love this! It is better than most movies. Everything is just perfect. It has Action, adventure, romance, mystery, drama, emotionaly charged scenes.

It is the story of a girl named Virginia and her life changes when she is whisped away to the Fairy land of the 9 Kingdoms. She has gone with her father. They were brought to this magical world my a magic mirror. An evil queen has been let lose and she turned the prince of the land into a dog. Virginia and her father are helping him return. Also (my favorite character)is Wolf. He is a man-wolf who is in love with Virginia.

EVERYONE WHO LIKES TO WATCH MOVIES WILL LOVE THIS!! I'm not joking. It is really that good. So, go buy the DVD. It should be at any video store at a cut price. A real 10 of 10!

You won't know what, or how, to feel after seeing this
14 June 2003
Requiem For A Dream takes you to an underworld filled with drugs, depression and despair. It brings you into the lives of four very sad people: Sara Goldfarb (Ellen Burstyn), Harry Goldfarb (Jared Leto), Marion (Jennifer Connelly), and Tyrone (Marlon Wayans). All Sara wants to do is to be loved. Loved by anyone who will love her. She will do anything to take her mind off the loneliness that she feels, so she goes on a diet. She gets hooked on the diet pills that have been prescribed to her, and starts to free fall into a nightmare. Her son, Harry and his beautiful girlfriend Marion, want to open a shop. All they want is to be happy. But because of their drug addiction, their dreams slowly fade away. Tyrone is Harry's best friend. All he yearns for is his mother's love. He dreams about it all day, and takes heroin to fuel these dreams. Four regular people, who's live's take a sharp turn.

There is no way to describe Requiem For A Dream other than saying it is a masterpiece. The emotions that go through you while watching this film are extreme. I have always been a fan of Ellen Byrstyn, but have never seen her pure talent until this film. Her performance can be compared to no one. It is one of the greatest in the history of cinema. The supporting cast is also exceptional. Especially Jennifer Connelly and Marlon Wayans, who now proved he could hold his own in a dramatic role. Never has a movie shown what drug addiction can do to you like Requiem For A Dream has. It is so real and intense that sensitive viewers may not choose to watch this.

Requiem For A Dream is by far, one of the greatest films ever made. By the end of the film it will have torn through you and you won't know what, or, how to feel. But that is exactly what the creators of Requiem For A Dream were going for.

A masterpiece all cinema! There is really nothing I can say that could do justice to the wonder of this movie. 10 out of 10!

Powerful and Emotional
14 June 2003
The Color Purple is one of the greatest stories ever told. The novel was spectacular, but Alice Walker's Pulitsar Prize winning book was transformed into a masterpiece my Steven Spieldburg. It is one of the most heartwarming and gripping tales you will ever see.

It is really too complicated of story to actually tell in less than 1000 words, so I will give a chopped version. It is the the story of Celie, a young black woman who is forced to marry a hateful man. This man is only known to her as Mr. He throws out Celie's sister, Nettie; the one and only thing she loves. When Celie grows up into a beaten woman, something happenes: Mr's. old girlfriend comes to stay with them. She turns Celie's life around and brings a new strength that she never thought she had. There is much more to the story than that, but as I said, it is very complicated.

The tears of joy and pain are well deserved in The Color Purple. It is emotionally charged. but also funny. It is the story of two special woman, claiming a life of their own. They swear that nothing will ever drag them down as long as they can hold on to eachother. Whoopie Goldburg is fantastic. Along with her supporting cast!

The Color Purple should be at the top of your viewing list. A flat out masterpiece! 10 out of 10!

Oh, I wish I could change the end!
14 June 2003
Oh, I am a fan of the novel. Well, just as much as I am a fan of the movie. I think that it is a great thriller. Everyone knows the story of The Stepford Wives. Okay, here it is for those who don't: A Joanne (a strong willed woman) and her children are moved out of there home in New York City by her husband. They move to the nice, quite town of Stepford. Joanne immidiatly notices something is wrong, for every woman in the town is the perfect housewife. She makes one other normal friend in Stepford, but when she turns into one of the Stepford Wives, Joanne starts to investigate discovering a horrifying secret.

This really is a great movie. Not only a thriller, but it does talk about womans status in society. When the mayor of the men's association answers Joannes question of why with, 'Because we can.' Oh, I just want to tear him apart. For those of you who have never seen the movie, you don't know what I'm talking about. For those of you that have, you have to agree with me!

But, all in all, it is a classic movie. It should be a must see on everyones list. But, if you can, you should really read the book. It explains everything so much better. 8 out of 10

The Hours (2002)
There is nothing greater than life
12 June 2003
I was appalled when I read some of the comments on this site. It seems that most people out there only look at the make-up of a movie, and don't seem to be interested in how much beauty is hidden under it. Sure, if you were to look at the movie as the story about three different woman, each with an emotional problem, living in three different times and trying to overcome their own depression. Yea, I could see how that would be dry and boring. But this movie isn't.

It is a wonderful, enlightening tale of one day in the life of three woman. Virginia Woolf, (played by Nicole Kidman, (who won the Academy Award for her portrayal), is the suicidal authoress of Mrs. Dalloway living in 1925 England. Laura Brown, (Julienne Moore), is a housewife reading Mrs. Dalloway, and relating to the main character of the novel. She feels she is living the wrong life in 1951 Los Angeles, with her husband and over sensitive son. Clarissa Vaughan (Meryl Streep), a lesbian living in New York City in 2001, is planning a party for her friend Richard (Ed Harris), who is dying of AIDS. She is the modern day image of Mrs. Dalloway.

This is only the simple basis for the story. The real magic is hidden under it. In the tremendous performances and tight, thought provoking script. The point of the movie is not to show you three depressed woman, but to show you the journey then take in one life changing day. This movie is not meant to depress people, but to actually teach them something that is quite uplifting: there is nothing greater than life. I just can't see how that message is depressing.

I think that this movie is absolutely perfect. The acting is amazing, the direction superb, the script sensational, the score by Phillip Glass breathtaking, and the editing is flawless in bringing the three different lives to intersect and become one fascinating film that gives us a glimpse into not only the lives, but souls of three very marvelous woman.
