Sidney Poitier at his best
15 September 2021
Excellent piece. The scenario is simple yet entertaining, the setup is really basic but Sidney Poitier carries the movie from start to finish.

Worst Movie I Have Seen In a Long Time
5 April 2021
How come this kind of movie still exists in 2021? The scenario, the actors, the action scenes, the FX, nothing can save this movie. The special effects (gunfire, flames coming out of guns, blood, etc.) are so awfully done I thought a 10 year old kid did this. Anyway, it is a terrible movie so don't waste your time watching it.

Meh
23 October 2020
Everyone has a story about the narcos nowadays. Operation Odessa follows the rule and tells us the story about drugs, luxury cars and everything that goes with it. The story might be true, it is hard to corroborate every detail but we can have some serious doubts by the way it is told. Mostly interviews and some photographic illustrations that look like they have been taken from Google Images. It is entertaining but is it really a documentary or just a movie?

Human Nature (I) (2019)

Thorough
14 October 2020
Even if you are not familiar with science and biology, Human Nature does an excellent job at explaining how gene editing and everything work. From the origins of the method to its application, they try to be as neutral as possible, weighing the pros and cons. Every person interviewed is asked about the potential benefits but also dangers of this new method.

When an interesting subject meets a terrible scenario
29 May 2020
I am sure Spencer T. Folmar had the best intentions when he decided to direct this movie. But there is so many things wrong in the scenario. Every character is a caricature of itself, every five minutes we are witnessing a new cliché and the ending is so demagogic that it is sickening.

It is missing something
14 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Erika 38 is based on real life events. It starts and ends with the incarceration of Erika. Throughout the whole movie, we are witnessing how Satoko Watabe/Erica is putting her scheme into action and the consequences of her behavior.

Miyoko Asada plays her character well but the whole story is pretty bland and he can clearly see where the whole thing is headed. It also seems that Yuichi Hibi is trying to make Erica likable and wants to explain why she is doing this by using flashbacks and such. At the end, Erika 38 is not an awful movie but it probably could have been better by working more on the scenario.

Boring as hell
22 August 2018
Let's be honest, The Ice Cream Truck is absolutely not a scary movie.

Everything in the movie is insipid. The truck driver is seriously lacking some character to frightened us. The scenario is so predictable that you will fall asleep during the movie. And the actors could really step up their games. In conclusion, you should just skip this movie and look at something for interesting.

Darkland (2017)

Classic Scandinavian Thriller
26 April 2018
Darkland follows the rules of a classic Scandinavian thriller. The atmosphere is oppressive thanks to the acting of the main character and due to the fact that most of the scenes take place at night.

The screenplay is pretty straightforward and without any major surprise but there is still a lot of suspense. We are waiting to see what Zaid is going to do next. This movie also raises interesting questions about ethnicity and one's integration into a different country and culture.

Could be improved
22 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Strictly Sexual is not exactly what I was expecting.

It is a straightforward script with two women who decide to hire two men for sexual purpose but then fall in love with them. The script is really direct and the characters are not very well developed. Fortunately, there is some funny parts improving the movie. However, most of the thoughts developed in the movie are pretty elementary and basic and make the movie kind of lame.

This movie just looks like the same as many of other ones and it is a shame because I think that it probably could be a better movie if the script was more developed and the characters more interesting.

Disappointing
24 April 2012
I was not expecting anything special from this show but, even with this state of mind, I was disappointed. The material is poorly written as his only way to try to be funny is to say f*** every 2 minutes which, obviously does not work. The subjects he choose to talk about such as movies or TV shows are not really interesting. There might be one or two lines that will make you smile at most.

In conclusion, this is a disappointing stand-up show that is not worth watching. Charlie Murphy does not want to apologize to the people he insults but should at least apologize to the people who watched this terrible performance.

Disappointed
5 April 2012
This film could have been way better but Geo Santini ruins the film.

Even if it's not super well written the story is interesting and it's not the worst scenario but the director has just ruined the movie. Indeed, during several scenes, he hops from the current scene to others scenes which happened in the past but using very disappointing techniques.

The dialogs are also very disappointing. I know that this is a movie about drug dealers but I don't think that the characters have to say f*** every 2 minutes. Once in a while it would be okay but in this case, it's simply annoying. The actors are fairly good so they could have write better dialogs for them.

Dog Eat Dog (2008)

Interesting movie
26 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
Carlos Moreno did a great job with Dog Eat Dog and I think that you can not compare this film with Tarantino's or Guy Ritchie's.

The film is violent but not too much (I think the movies of Tarantino are way more violent) and the violence is used for a specific purpose: to inform us of what happens in Colombia. The realization is interesting as he uses different means to show various point of view. This allows to highlight the actors and the universe of Colombian criminals. This very realistic movie exposes the omnipresence of violence in Colombia.

On the other hand, the plot is a little bit weak, or let's say simple, but the performances of the actors and, especially, Marlon Moreno (Victor Peñaranda) are very convincing.
