Sacred Games (2018)
Hold your thoughts!!
This is by far the best television series to come out of India! Hands down there is no comparison. I have seen every series in the top 25 series list on IMDB and this series is a strong contender to be in that list. The performance by every actor and the screenplay is so tightly knit that it leaves the viewers thirsty for more. I cannot wait for the next season to come out and am hoping Netflix comes out with more bold shows like this!
Dilwale (2015)
Avoid at all cost
Once again I sat through the entire movie(Dilwale) and unexpectedly the movie ended. I sat there hoping there will be at least one scene, one act which I could categorize as remotely decent. The complete absence of story, plot or degrading acting by SRK is mind blowing. After watching this movie, I should change my review of Chennai Express as decent (3 starts out of 10). This movie fails at so many levels that I sincerely think SRK has done a rewind on his acting and is failing in front of a new comer like Jr. Dhawan. A complete waste of time and if you really want to waste your time, go watch the older versions of SRK movies.
Life of Pi (2012)
Great movie, but a great director!
Few movies will leave a lasting impression on you..Life of Pi is one of those. Not even a single moment is dull, in fact the story is woven so tightly that you never realize that the script is so simple. It is beautifully directed and kudos to Ang Lee, not only was he able to capture the beauty of India, he was also able to get the best of the actors. Though it does not rank too high on 3D, its just visually mesmerizing. My trust and faith in Ang Lee has gone up to the highest level after watching this movie..Luckily I was able to catch the premiere show and will continue to relish the after effects of the movie for the next few days!
Bhooter Bhabishyat (2012)
An amazingly well made movie!
This movie came out as a total surprise to me..Very seldom will you see me give 9 stars to a movie..but this movie deserves it thoroughly. What strikes me most is the plot..and is closely followed by the direction and screenplay. The director has done a fantastic job in trending the story with different angles and does an amazing job in weaving all the characters together. Also the way the story is narrated through the ages flawlessly leaves me amazed. Well Done Anik Dutta...what you have created here, brings Bengali cinema to a different stage! I do hope that in future we continue to see such originality and wonderful direction from Anik Dutta.
