It was simply a lovely, moving film. Tears flowed down my cheeks.

I'd seen this film on DVD when it first came to the States,I saw it again last weekend on TV. I'd forgotten how much I loved it, I'm so glad I saw it again. It was so moving, I felt I wanted to believe in fairies and after seeing this film and the websites with pictures of them, who's to say there aren't any? I recommend this film to anyone, just keep an open mind and a box of tissues handy. The girls are so sweet, if only children were like that today, we would be so lucky! Harvey Keitel was a bit hard to believe as Houdini but he wasn't terrible and Peter O'Toole was wonderful as Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. The mother and father were just the ticket, I believed their performances entirely. If only we could make a film as lovely as this.

I saw this film in Germany and I thought it was great. I copied it, the problem is, it was in the PAL system. I had a multi-system TV but is now "Kaput." I have watched this film many times and I think the story is really clever, no sex scenes, no violence, you know a story that would be boring in the States! I thought it was quite enjoyable. I never saw such wonderful autos in my life, the Porsch's and the Monteverde were fantastic. It has so many interesting turns in the plot, just when you think everything is clear, something else crops up. The scene where he catches the auto thief is priceless. He tells the thief what special equipment is on board, while the thief is making a pitch to sell it to a buyer!

I recommend this film without reservation, see it if you get a chance!

Warning: Spoilers
This was the best production of Candide I've ever seen. I saw the production with Barbara Cook, I thought she was wonderful. I think Kristen Chenoweth was even better. She is the greatest singer/Actress in the business today! She would have been a star in the "Golden Days" of Broadway. I think she is the Merman of today. I would love to see her in any of the great musicals of the 30's thru the early 60's. She would be fantastic in; "Man of La Mancha," "The Most Happy Fella," "Kismet." I can see her in almost any show of that era. I also saw her on the "Boston Pops" program. She sang Jerome Kern songs and several other songs, again, she was sensational. The more of her I see, the more of her I want to see!
