The Girl Who Couldn't Quite (1950)
A seriously understated movie that touches on human relations
The movie is about the masculine and feminine forms that most are not always aware of. It could explain the reasons for its lower IMDB score than usual.
Without appearing sexual, it tries to go into the minds of the individual and how the man attempts to bring out the real personality and character locked within this vulnerable girl.
Most will gloss over it as nothing more than frivolous fun and talk but it deeply underscores the human form from the point of view of both sexes. One can learn a lot about improving ones relationship with each other from this movie alone.
A movie that will continue to strike a chord with many people for years to come, particularly if they take the time to understand the interaction of men and women.
Faster (2010)
Second time watching this and it only gets better
A movie with deep under tones that some will overlook.
It's likely that reviewers who just wants an action flick with not much plot will not like this movie. I have read some of them and it seems to be the case.
You really to step into the mind of the Rock of the to fully appreciate it. His refusal to kill anyone but the the people behind his brothers killing. It shows a man who is in control and not just a mad man out to kill skyline that stood in his way.
The turning point is towards the end when he has a profound feeling of guilt. It is fitting that he finally finds redemption by forgiving his last assailant.
Ultimately, the movie can be shocking at times but an insightful look into the mind of a man with vengeance.
I Care a Lot (2020)
Bit lost with all the negative comments
This movie has so many twists and turns you can only feel drawn into the movie.
I am somewhat puzzled by many people's negative comments regarding this movie. For goodness sake it's just a movie and to critic on it's moralistic values doesn't make any sense. You might as well watch a documentary on the court system and medical care where critiscms will be more appreciated.
We are perfectly fine to see x-men, and other movies for what it is, why should this be any different.
Anyways, I thought the lead role was played well, with all characters adding to the movie. The most good thing about the movie was that it kept you intrigued all the way to the end.
Recommended watch, if only you can accept the fact that it is totally fictional.
However, the intensity of the movie and it's uncanny resemblance to real life desires can leave you feeling uneasy, especially what people will go through to achieve their ultimate aims in life.
Jagten (2012)
Not true to life
I am surprised by the high rating by all the viewers and it maybe because of the controversial subject. I felt the portrayal of it was rather subdued and not in line with reality. Take for example the kindergarten teacher who was accused of molesting a child and any normal innocent person would be horrified by these falsie accusations. However, the man seemed little ruffled by it and was more interested in what others thought of him. Any normal person would go ballistic and even more so when the whole school and town turned against him without a single shred of evidence. I praised his son Marcus for what he should have done in the first place. However, I did give it a score of six because it does tackle a difficult subject where many people's emotions are tested.
Pyaar Impossible! (2010)
Actually better than I expected
I recently got into bollywood movies with my first helping 'Bodyguard' which I found to be a very sweet comedy and Salman Khan as definitely come of age. When I saw Priyanka Chopra in an interview I was particularly enamored by her presence and beauty. It's no wonder she was previously a coveted winner of Miss World back in 2000. However, acting is a whole different story and Mrs. Aishwarya Rai also a former 1994 Miss World winner has proved that beauty pageants can also make it into acting.
Having been in the movie industry for a number of years now, Priyanka Chopra has again proved to the critics that she is a very capable actress and shows her versatility in this movie. She plays a very motivated young woman who was always looking for thrills and spills and falls for the wrong person, the product of which is a single mum with a young daughter. Come on the heels of Priyanka is a an unassuming, mild mannered geek who has quietly been in love with her from college days. One day through fate they meet up again in life and the story uncoils around their unexpected relationship.
I am a bit puzzled by the low rating this movie has received since I thought it was very entertaining. One thing I need to add is that you cannot watch Bollywood movies with any 'seriousness'. The story is always usually fantastic and unbelievable but thats what gives it some magic as all the movie fans consisting of over half the world will testify. If you really want to judge movies on technical merit, film worthiness, realism etc. then we have many of the western movies for that, but for pure light-hearted entertainment, then you cannot go wrong with this one.
