Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer (2023)
Get ready to laugh till' your stomach hurts!
I'm not always very keen on stand ups or even comedy series in general. After Chappelle left Comedy Central I hadn't found too many of his stand ups shows to be as funny or good. But this show! THIS IS A MUST! I came across the trailer as Netflix likes to auto play trailers and the show itself (really really really annoying) but when I saw the new stand up pop up. I gave it a go, especially since I was cooking dinner.
I have to say the show is absolutely brilliant! The entire show is an absolute delight. I've already watched it a few times haha.
So WATCH THE SHOW!! Even if you're not the biggest David Chappelle fan, this one, you definitely don't want to skip!
Enjoy!!
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre (2023)
Who wrote and directed this disaster?
This is yet another example of film, producers and directors, spending a ridiculously lavish lifestyle and completely missing or failing to deliver on story telling. This movie's plot and budget has a huge discrepancy.
I rarely not finish watching a film, however, but this film so god awful that stopped watching after 40 mins. The plot, script; and directional work for with notable and good actors like Josh Hartnett and Hugh Grant.
If I didn't know better, I wouldn't have had such knowledge that the film copied a clever and humorous film The Gentlemen by Guy Richie. The similarities -the overall plot, not to mention casting two actors from the film you copied.
If you're planning to mirror another successful film. You better be ready to add and contribute to the genre vs. Copying it only to show us the horrifically amateur style of a film.
The King's Man (2021)
Couldn't finish it...waste of all the talent in the film
It boils down to this. What was the point of the film? I thought it was a prequel to the previous two films. Yet it did none of that. No one is a bad ass.
Ralph Fiennes character did nothing for what 10 plus years after his wife dies in his arms asking him to make sure their son never sees another war?
And keeping the story to the historical facts I think really led them down this horrible path. King's man is fictional so keep the story fictional. Instead the film focused so much on getting the facts accurate that it lost the heart of the plot.
Horrible waste of such an incredible talents cast. Terrible script, direction... I won't watch another one of the series from the franchise.
14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible (2021)
Wow just wow
It's assumed you'll see a fantastic array of stunning shots of the 14 highest peaks Nims and his all Nepalese Sherpa team attempt to climb in just 6 months and 6 days.
But what you really get is not a ego boosted self preaching pseudo inspiration but how taking the step one at a time can help you achieve what was deemed impossible into POSSIBLE.
It's just a remarkable story of a man who shares how he lives everyday while pushing everybody around him so they can ALL achieve their goals.
This is a story for the books. I can't wait to see what his team does next!
And do yourself a favor and WATCH IT!!
Stowaway (2021)
Who approved this movie? This should have seen the light of day
Unrealistic, poor script and direction. My grade school niece would have come up with a better plot than this garbage.
Netflix better not increase my subscription for awhile.
I can't even finish watching this movie, but I am thoroughly enjoying the savage reviews left by others. The reviews are more entertaining than the film.
Inside Bill's Brain: Decoding Bill Gates (2019)
Misleading title with very little substance
I expected so much more from this series. The subject alone is intriguing yet the series failed to capture any real meaningful narrative that's compelling for me. Perhaps they dealt with parameters set by Gates on what they could and could not discuss but it definitely isn't a bio docu I expected based on the title. Barely finished the first episode, disappointing to say the least.
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020)
No words to describe the utter shock
The systematic failure and the abuse this sweet boy had to endure is just devastating. A lot of series tend to drag what could be a short 2 hour film. But this series did an excellent job going through all the details to clearly portray how on earth something like this happened to a helpless young innocent boy.
Great series
