Head of State (2003)
Boring, Boring, boring
29 February 2004
Chris Rock is usually very funny but not in this flick. Unfortunately for this movie the only funny parts were shown in the trailers for the film. He should have either stuck to just acting or directing but not both. I sat through this movie and the whole time I was thinking that if this was on regular television I would have changed the channel because it was so boring. I didn't think anything about it was unique or very funny, in fact I never laughed once! The story is a re-hash of all the other movies that have already been made about hometown boy makes good and then tries to fix up the old neighborhood he feels loyal to. Definitely NOT worth renting.

An OK film
29 February 2004
It was not as funny as I had hoped. The story was kinda silly and predictable although presented in a unique fashion as though it were on the E! network. It had it's funny moments but unfortunately the funniest of which were already shown in the trailers. I thought there would have been more use of the other "child stars" than in just the one poker night scene and the music video at the end was ok but some of the singers I definitely would not have classified as child stars as they would have been much older than a child when their respective shows aired. Of all David Spade's movies sans Chris Farley it ranks up there. It is not a movie I would go out and buy but it's worth the rental if your looking for something goofy.

Wooly Boys (2001)
Not bad
29 February 2004
The movie was not as good as I hoped. It wasn't bad but it was lacking. The story felt rushed, some of the humor was too obvious (there were scenes that were funny though), and there should have been clearer character development. I think it's a good film for children and older folks. I had hoped there would have been more film of the badlands and it failed to truly show the beauty of the prairie. For an independent low-budget release it was pretty good. At least it didn't make North Dakotans look like backwater hicks ( ala the horrible "Fargo" movie which was not filmed in nor did it take place in the city it was named after!)

Marci X (2003)
Disappointed
29 February 2004
I was very disappointed with this movie. I really had high expectations. The story had definite potential but maybe it would have done better with different actors. Damon Wayans ( while extremely funny in movies such as Major Payne and as the father on the TV show "My Wife & Kids") was not at all convincing as the hard core rapper he was supposed to be portraying. Nor was Lisa Kudrows' performance as a sheltered socialite very funny at all. There were a few scenes that were kind of humorous but that's about it. The story is flat and predictable, the characters are under-developed. Don't waste your money on this one. Not really worth the rental fee. Sorry.

I loved this movie.

Nobody said movies had to be realistic did they? I really liked this movie because I remember when I first saw it in junior high. For all the kids who remember the PMRC and albums before there were warning stickers, it's a cool story for all those kids who were part of the mid to late 80's headbanger crowd.
