Christmas on Mistletoe Farm (2022)
Ridiculous
The current average of 4.4 is actually buoyed by people who are giving it a 10 because of how awful it is - meaning it's actually far worse. Every 2022 trope is included, nothing about the real reason Christmas exists.
While the bright colors are enjoyable, the rest of the film is filled with horrible over-acting, a totally predictable story line, wardrobe that is over the too in a bad way and a frenetic pace that isn't enjoyable. The animals couldn't come close to saving what is an unwatchable film. Even my children, who will watch just about anything, were over it pretty quickly.
Netflix makes such garbage.
Turning Red (2022)
Not a children's movie
While fine (and not any better), having to explain menstruation to a 7 year old wasn't fun. There are a lot of real-life adult topics Disney doesn't need to address.
The premise was cute but ridiculously executed with far too many liberties.
Finally, I found it odd how much they were pushing the Canada angle - I haven't seen that many US symbols in the last half-dozen Pixar movies combined.
Forgettable, which is sad given how well they drew the Panda.
The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild (2022)
The Family Theme Saved It
With decent animation, the movie has only a few laughs. The story isnt great, the villain is shallow but the theme of family saves it from a 2 or 3. Good for young kids, at best.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
They don't respect our time
The most frustrating person in studios these days is the one who has the knack for taking a 90-minute story idea and dragging it out for 10 episodes. Like so many titles before it, it was "fine" but many, many hours too long.
Trouble (2019)
Brutally Bad Voice-over Acting
The movie was merely a series of clichés and stereotypes. The characters conveniently act abnormally only so as to advance the story - a trait of a terrible story teller. Neither of our kids (10 & 8) even giggled once. The animation was "fine," not excellent.
I've seen worse movies, but not many.
2012 (2009)
One of the worst of a lot of bad movies...
As terrible movies go, this one is up there with the best. It has all the elements of a rotten egg.
Hundreds of liberties. Check! Bad writing. Check! Sub par acting. Check! Idiotic dramatic pauses. Check! Drama for the sake of drama that doesn't advance the storyline. Check! 2:30 hrs in length. Check! Cheezy cinematography. Check! Racial stereotypes. (The government-hating crazy white guy and the old white guy who was such a racist he wouldn't even talk to his own son anymore because he married an Japanese gal) Check! And a couple of anti-Christian digs, notably the crack between Michelangelo's God and man at the Sistine Chapel.
This is typical Hollywood garbage.
Vacancy (2007)
A total waste of time
Although the film quality was excellent, the actors are attractive and adequate, the creepy guy is sufficiently creepy, the plot is ridiculous, but normal for a scary movie, the writing is horrendous. When you watch a scary movie like this, you have to at least somewhat believe that how the characters react is believable. This movie is HORRIBLE as the script requires the actors to constantly do ridiculous things to ensure that it lasts the mandatory hour and a half.
As usual, lazy Hollywood releases another garbage film. I would have turned the film off 3 times, but my wife likes to torture us to the end, no matter how awful. Oh, and just FYI, she's MUCH more forgiving than I with films and she thought it was as bad as I did.
Matchstick Men (2003)
Absolutely predictable...
By far the most predictable movie I've seen in a long time. If you didn't know exactly what was happening from 20 minutes in, you were not paying attention. Worse yet, even after knowing for an HOUR what was going to happen, I had to wait 20 more minutes to reach the conclusion.
One of those movies that leaves me ANGRY and like I would have rather watched the 4 bucks burning on the ground than have given it to the Blockbuster folks. Besides, burning it doesn't leave me angry and it takes only 30 seconds as opposed to the hour and fifty minutes I had to waste.
A total waste of life.
