Predictable...
7 December 2015
WEll nothing new or original here. Everything pretty well follows the blueprint of the futuristic kung-fu fighting movie.

Baleful, oriental hottie beats twenty men in three minutes flat using dance-like martial arts moves.

Why do his attackers come at him one at a time? Are they afraid they might accidentally break each other's fingernails?

Anyway I couldn't watch more than twenty minutes of the first episode.

My brain was dumbfounded with boredom.

I predict more school kids are going to break each others noses in the school yard as a result of imitating what they see on this series.

The Walking Dead: Heads Up (2015)

This show is getting boring...
4 December 2015
Blah blah blah, rawr, grrr, eeek, pow, blah blah blah.

The Walking dead is following this predictable formula show after show. A few scenes of exciting action followed by countless scenes of boring dialogue between various characters. I call these hallmark moments -- you know those mushy TV movies sponsored by Hallmark.

Characters having heartfelt talks about boring interpersonal issues, personal conflicts, gossiping about other characters, and on and on. Then some more action that moves the plot forward. Then back to blah blah blah.I usually fast forward through them until I reach a more interesting part of the episode.

I realize there are budget considerations and it's cheaper to shoot two characters talking rather than have dozens of walking dead extras stumbling around and other action scenes. Nevertheless I think the writers are getting lazy and they just follow the formula and don't put any energy into coming up with interesting plot lines.

Enjoyed this because I loved the book
8 August 2015
I am a 63 year old female so my tastes differ from those of the younger demographic. I enjoyed this movie, I think it follows the book fairly closely. Read the book a while ago, so I don't remember exactly. Michelle Williams was good considering she mostly had to stand around looking scared, great English accent. Kristin Scott was icy and imperious. Maybe a bit over the top.

Very authentic. Good costumes, sets, location.

Yes this movie had a soap opera feel, that was the type of story it told.

The tragic thing is that the author Irene Nemirovsky was betrayed by her countrymen to the Nazis and died in a German concentration camp. Her daughter found the manuscript in her belongings many decades later. So the novel was written during the time of the Second World War, it's more authentic than novels written decades after.

Bad bad chappie

I couldn't actually finish watching this movie.

Here are some random thoughts:

"Don't let them ruin your creativity, Chappie." Says his nerd creator. Argh.

Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver must be so embarrassed. I guess they have a rich lifestyle to maintain.

I can definitely say that you should not pay to see this movie or you will find the seats are getting very hard as you watch and you just want relief by leaving the theater.

You work hard for your money and you deserve a better entertainment experience.

...Nah, not the real deal.

OK so this is a TV show and like most TV shows it doesn't quite hit the mark.

I don't think Duchovny can act. He did well in Californication because he was essentially playing himself. Any other films/TV shows that he's been in have made that painfully clear. His performances have been cringeworthy. In this role he is flat. He brings nothing to the character. Can't do tough cop at all.

As far as the ambiance and feel of the 60's era it was close but it did not have an authentic feel. Since I grew up in this era, I expected something more.

The positive reviews are fiction
24 January 2015
I watched this painfully boring movie to the end - All 2+ hours of it. Everything in the film rang false. I am not as erudite as some of the negative reviewers here but they are not lying.

I hate movies that try to press the same fake emotional buttons over and over again. Parental guilt, love, duty, heroism, blah, blah, blah. This movie does it at every turn until you can't stop groaning.

The suspension of disbelief. What every work of fiction aims to achieve. Once that stops working you're in trouble. No you can't drive a truck at top speed with a flat tire through a cornfield without losing control. No corn is not harvested by a combine and left lying on the ground when it is green. Then there were a lot of scientific facts that were ignored or glossed over about space travel. I'm not a scientist but there were many times when I said, "Wait, what, that doesn't sound right". Anyway I think I reached the minimum number of characters so I can stop.

Do not pay to see this movie. Enough said.

I Laughed...Do not pay to see this movie.
13 August 2014
I didn't think much of it so here are my thoughts. HaHa

I don't mind action movies, though I'm not a fan. They're usually predictable but fun. Bang bang, boom boom.

This one was so ridiculous it made me laugh. A bunch of grumpy old men talking tough when they look like they should just be spending their days in a recliner watching TV. Hey guys when you get this decrepit it's time to hang up the camos. Some young unknown actors who couldn't act their way out of a paper bag and have two looks, mad and really mad.

Stallone looks like someone ran over his face with a jeep. Or else the botox went terribly wrong.

Harrison Ford is ancient, you can't understand a word he says. More botox problems I guess.

Dolph Lungren - wow that was pitiful. His script must have been typed on a sheet of toilet paper. Mostly just a vacant grin.

Lines are predictable usually something snarky when someone is shot, "I bet that musta hurt."

Tons of CGI, to the point where it's no longer believable. Everything in sight is shot up or blown up or destroyed but out heroes don't even break a fingernail. Well maybe their faces get s little dirty.

Anyway, make sure you don't pay to see this. It's not worth it.

Freaky, I loved it....
16 July 2014
Just watched the first episode and totally loved it. The acting and writing in this show are very good. Certainly the premise of the show is unique and unpredictable. If there's anything I really hate is predictability in a movie or TV show. I loved the fact that the episode set the stage while hinting at what was to come but never revealing anything substantial. Every creepy, suspenseful scene left you with unanswered questions.

I don't know who these negative reviewers are. Maybe they have a stake in trying to make this program fail. In my opinion their complaints are unfounded.

Considering the garbage we are being shown in movie theaters we should be grateful that HBO is presenting something that is reasonably entertaining.

This is the worst movie I have ever seen.
18 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Please do not spend a dime to see this movie. It is the worst movie released ever, please trust me. I only watched until the end because for some weird reason I wanted in to get better but it never did. A monster in a lake that has to receive a human offering every 30 years so that is doesn't kill tourists. Was this script written by a thirteen year-old? Terrible acting. Terrible script. Flat boring cringe worthy dialogue. Nonsensical lines like "I can't leave this town because of all my memories", spoken by some crusty old loser who is the leading lady's father. (And the worst actor ever...) Everyone involved in writing, acting and directing this movie needs to think seriously about a career change. Right now! Actually I feel kind of sorry for him now.

Boring, Boring, Boring
17 September 2012
Minimal plot, endless fight scenes.

Lots of CGI to the point where you say, yah, whatever.

Dialog would probably fit on 2 sheets of paper, double-spaced.

Alice runs around fighting monsters and zombies in ultra-high heeled wedgies. What?

The Resident Evil series is getting progressively worse.

The "rescue the little kid" scenes are totally copied from Alien.

The actors can't speak with any kind of conviction. I guess they're embarrassed to be in this movie.

I'm supposed to write at least 10 lines but there isn't much you can say about this.

Save your money.

See something else.
