High Anxiety (1977)
I'm a Hitchcock fan...
however, this in my opinion, was a farrago of drivel. It may appeal to Hitchcock fanatics, and indeed, the great man himself. However, I can only think that he was being sympathetic to Mr Brooks when he demonstrated his approval with a gift. I don't really care that the film contains a weak plot. However, the film is classified by the IMDb as a thriller (which of course it's spoofing) and a comedy. I never laughed once (I'll admit that I maybe raised a smirk when the human dog got amorous with Thorndyke's leg)and so for me it failed. Admittedly, I'm not a fan of the work of Mel Brooks so I appreciate that I may be in the minority...
London Belongs to Me (1948)
Sir Wylie
A brilliant performance from Wylie Watson, with fine back-up from Alistar Sim and Faye Compton. The only downside to the film is the poker faced performances from Dickie boy and the other younger actors.Wylie Watson should have been knighted for his services in bringing tears to a glass eye.
