Doctor Love (2011)
Doctor love - boring towards hatred
A film not worth the watch.
Hey, Mr. Biju, we have seen a lot of this stuff bro. The situations, the settings, the songs have all been done before. It gets a bit boring after sometime. And downright unbearable in a few scenes. The only relief is the Salim Kumar entry. The rest of the jokes were a bit strained in a way. The actors too were uncertain, or overtly exaggerating. Only Ananya gave her role the required grace. And please don't make 'love' seem so squeamish. We lovers know how to keep it divine. But hats off to the cameraman for bringing out the best locales of SBC. Thanks for bringing back memories of my college.
Watch it at your own risk!!

Thala rocks!!!! Game Over!!!!!
Ho ho
Ajith, you got a new fan, bro! I didn't know you were this capable. Why didn't I go after you before.. OK, varalaru was good from you, but a few of your billa scenes were terrible,k
maybe coz of that
well, coming to the movie.. its heist, chases and twists..Yes,a bit predictable..seen many like them
shades of the infernal affairs trilogy and reservoir dogs.. so nothing novel in the story.. Good editing, BGM n effects.. could've have done without a few songs.. Arjun still has the panache yo.. The romance and betrayal was done with sinister class by Thala.. The chess scene was the highlight for me..Wow, green blood.. Prabhu, the pace was racy, but it lagged a bit here and there with providence helping you through the potholes in the script. Anyway, its Ajith who set the benchmark in the film. No actor in India would have opted for the grey hairs idea. Please do more negative/shaded roles.I see the Ledger-Joker in you bro..
Thala, luv ya.. Game over!!

Shinkai, you are Amazing!....
I just couldn't help myself from writing something about this film. Simply mesmerizing visuals. Meticulous attention to detail. Almost every frame is a wonder in itself. Shinkai, you are Amazing! The plot divided into three parts, or short stories, traverses through the growing distance between the two title characters and their gradual process of succumbing to fate. For one, who knows the pangs of separation, this poignant presentation of their inevitable parting, built up on a scenic blend of brilliant color schemes, poses some of the eternal questions regarding love and life. The final parallel dream narration is so touching and shows the peaks of emotional bonding. Anybody who has loved will surely feel a few tugs at the heartstrings from their plight. The music adds so much more to the rhythm of the narration that you are fully drawn into it. But all my praises go towards the animation effects used by Shinkai. The angles, stills, sounds and movements are so full of vitality that you can't help but awe at its greatness. The movie, just an hour long, will breeze through your sensibilities like its falling cherry blossom petals. Loved it for pure aesthetics. Yes, A new Miyazaki is heir-apparent
7aum Arivu (2011)
Screenplay needs common sense...let alone the 7th!!!!
Sad to say that, I am really disappointed with Suriya and Murugadoss. Why couldn't they make things seem credible and sensible? Anyway, I accept my punishment for blindly believing the hype. My bad.
Things started off slowly for me. The history, the varalaru of Bhodhi Dharma, was presented with the same panache as in the beginning of Dasavatharam, even better in parts, thanks to Ravi. The effects and fight scenes build up a fitting tempo for the future. Yet, as the story shifted to the present day, the plot fell prey to inconsistencies, and dragged through unnecessary songs and conflicts. The screenplay didn't really tie up the romance, research ploy and operation red well. And the songs remind us a lot about Ayan. Only the Ringa Ringa song sequence and the roller-coaster idea stand out. But the 93 day countdown was tiring to say the least. Was there any point in that, Mr. Murugadoss? Anyway, I am glad he didn't present each day on screen! I don't get the logic when a guy, after being dumped and having sung his heart out, goes with her again at the slightest request. Only the villain entry just before the break helped my restlessness. Sadly, the second half went even further into unnecessary and illogical scenes, and fights. Too many flying vehicles!?! Good editing, though. The nation was under threat, people dying and they needed another 18 days to do research!?! Suriya, pumped up and macho, gave the fighting scenes some class. The rest is ordinary and normal from him. The tragic- song was somewhat unbearable in context. Sruthi was okay, for the intelligence she brings to the role, but lacked the romantic bend for love and dance. The villain is the only saving grace. He is evil personified, similar to Arnie in Terminator, and incredibly agile. But he lacked a proper brain with intelligence. Is it that difficult to kill a girl if you can actually make her kill herself? The final fight scene was good, but things were getting way too predictable by then that it became irrelevant. Mr. Murugadoss, you are right. It's high time we embrace history, but please put forth your ideas through a more coherent script next time around, okay. Your seventh awoke my eighth sense - to be more careful of such films in future.
The Adventures of Tintin (2011)
Please be more faithful to Herge, Mr. Spielberg....
Well, expectations were really high. Spielberg. Jackson. Tintin. What more can you ask!!! But sadly, I guess, you could have asked for a bit more faithfulness to Herge. The movie is worth a watch, but could have been loads better. Starting with the credits, you seem hopeful that the pace of the narrative will take your breath away from the word go. Yet Spielberg and company take their time, which is a good thing. People new to Tintin may need to tune up to his zest for adventure and story. Spielberg did try hard to break free from his Indiana Jones tradition, essentially upholding its roots, to showcase a comic adaptation which is worthy of his efforts. The animation is wonderful. Even without 3D glasses, it looked sharp and detailed. Still, there is not much to bring out in the 3D World, where I hope Jackson would prove his worth in the next installment. The hunt for the unicorns, in the first half, tries to hinge on Spielberg's plot turns from the original. The writing is a bit off in a few places as you miss out on some of Tintin's genuinely ingenious ideas. The best parts of the film all come in the second half in the form of Haddock's flashback in re-creation, the final port showdown, and the unbelievable single-shot chase scene which truly was the treat for me.
As far as performance goes, it's Jerkins' Haddock that is most faithful to Herge. His short-tempered madness, delusional frenzy is easily the driving force in the second half. Tintin is good for most parts, but I did feel he was an Americanized version lacking some of Tintin's Hergeian sensibilities. Thompson and Thomson were under utilized – I can't see the logic why, Mr. Spielberg. They are an integral part of the Hergeian world. But I am happy to see Snowy, Tintin's Man Friday, given enough screen presence. His antics were enjoyable and fun.
All n all, I guess, the creators missed out on building a coherent end. Combining Crab with the Golden Claws, Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham's Treasure, there seemed very little time to come to a lucid finality with this one. The reference to the Eagles' cross, which is scarcely stressed before, acts as a simple lucky find. The secret in the three notes were also given less attention. Maybe Mr. Spielberg thinks they are a bit outdated. Hope at least he is saving it for Peter Jackson to uncover its clues next time around. Hey Jack, show our Spielby how to make film adaptations, my man. You are exceptional at that. Ho, ho, ho, and a bottle of rum
Red Rakham's treasure, here we come!!!!
