The Virginian: The Challenge (1966)
Recycled Story
This episode is basically recycled from "Smile of a Dragon" which was number 22 back in season 2. In both scripts Trampus is injured in a stagecoach robbery and suffers a concussion. He stumbles around and picks up a fancy white handled revolver that belonged to the main robber. He wanders around until found and cared for by a pretty girl and her father. Meanwhile the sheriff and his posse are convinced that Trampus is guilty and track him down.
Westworld: Trace Decay (2016)
I didn't expect that! (possible spoiler warning)
After watching this episode (Trace Decay) I felt it brought up more questions than it did answers. If Delores is seeing a thriving town in the past, and the ruins of a church steeple in the present, then is she in the past or the present? We know the old steeple is in the present because Ford was showing it to others as part of a new narrative he was writing. But what I didn't expect was the spoiler listed under the PLOT heading on the episode page. Here is what caught my eye: Bernard accesses the rules of Arnold's game and makes some modifications of his own as he teams up with Maeve in an attempt to become co-rulers of the park. Dr. Ford, attempts to transfer his consciousness into a host. Full summary » OOPS! That doesn't sound like the episode I watched. Obviously, this must be the plot summary for the next episode! Or perhaps the season finale? Thanks for the spoiler, eye em Dee bee!
McKeever and the Colonel (1962)
I had the board game, but never saw the show!
Back in 1962, I would have been 5 years old. We only had 2 TV stations in town, the CBS affiliate and the NBC affiliate. But, the NBC affiliate would often preempt NBC shows and show an ABC show instead. Which is why we never got the first season of ST:TOS. I think this is what happened to McKeever, but someone gave me the the Milton-Bradley board game based on the show, and I played it constantly with my friends. All I remember about the game was there were multiple plastic pillars that you would hide the characters behind and the other side had to find them, similar to Battleship. I always wished that they would air this show in syndication but I never got a chance to see even one episode. Does anyone know if it's available for viewing somewhere?
Alien Apocalypse (2005)
Quite possibly the worst Sci-Fi movie I've ever seen!
I was hoping that Bruce Campbell could duplicate the campy fun of Army of Darkness in this low budget alien flick. Boy was I wrong. This thing isn't a B movie, it's a grade Z waste of footage. If you've seen the preview, you've seen the best parts. Unless your idea of fun is watching giant grasshoppers bite peoples heads off with fake blood spurting everywhere. Oh, and if that's not enough for you, the humans chop off a lot of alien heads which spurt out green alien blood. The Sci-Fi channel has shown some stinkers in the past, but this one has got to be the worst. I kept waiting for the MST3K characters to pop up and comment, but they probably couldn't stomach it.
Cool Money (2005)
Pretty good, although they could have set the period better...
I thought this was a pretty good movie, but it bothered me that I couldn't figure out in what time period it was supposed to be set. The cars are usually a dead giveaway, but here we have one of the characters driving a mid '70's Ford sedan, one driving an late '80's GM station wagon, and the main character in what looks like a 2005 Chrysler. Not to mention the gang uses a late '90's Lincoln to drive to their heists. I figured that since there were no cell phones or computers it must be the mid-to-late '70's, but then seeing a modern electronic PBX telephone console at the hotel brings you back to the '90's! The acting and writing were quite good, and the movie moved along at a good pace. Enjoyable.
