Beautiful and interesting
2 February 2020
I'm usually not a fan of dubbed shows, but I was sucked in fast and added closed captioning to keep myself following the names.

This is a lovely show, and not just the landscape. Beautifully shot, I think. I'm not able to express how or why, as I'm not in the industry, but to my untrained eyes, it is so very visually appealing.

The sound quality is also wonderful. I really turn it up and it's fantastic. Even the music is great. Eclectic.

The story is based on ancient gods in modern times. It also explores young adult angst.

Very enjoyable!!

I'm hooked

A quirky show that has moments of horror and levity. Disturbing and charming. Polarizing. I love it. The acting is fantastic and I live for the few moments of music.

Slow grab ... but grabbed just the same
20 April 2015
I love crazy twists and turns. Things that make me go, "Whaaaaa...??" and Dig has a lot of that.

There's no swearing (it's on USA network for crying out loud) and the camera work has never bothered me. Bear in mind, I'm a non-religious, non-Hollywood type...so what do I know?

But -- if you want to get sucked in and taken for a weird ride, hop on.

It did help that I fell in love with Detective Golan Cohen, Peter's partner.

Regina Taylor is deliciously evil and Anne Heche (I know, right!?) is a fun find in this show. I was happy to see Lauren Ambrose in a great role... always love her.

Superior Series
17 November 2014
Not sure why it took me so long to discover this fascinating look at gangsters around London, I'm just glad it was recommended for me on Netflix. This is a combination of everything I want from a series.

The scenery is striking: beautiful and grimy. Most notable are the flashes of fire along the streets. I find the period clothing to be interesting and lovely, although I cannot verify it's accuracy.

Music selections are varied and generally, in my opinion, outstanding. I have found myself searching for some to purchase.

Every performance is really superior. Some standouts are Cillian Murphy, Hellen McCrory and Paul Anderson. The only actor I find a bit jarring is Sam Neill. And that's not a knock on his acting, only that I think he takes his evil so far it makes me uncomfortable.

Highly recommend this if you like the gangster genre and don't mind the violence. Also, if you are a fan of the, Good that is evil and Bad that isn't, sort of thing, this is for you. Even if you have to look away at moments, the blue eyes of C. Murphy can pull you through. Mesmerizing.

Magic Mike (2012)

Oh, the shame.

Do you enjoy watching beautiful man bodies? Either way, this movie is not for you. It's not for anyone.

The only saving grace is the fact Tatum Channing can dance. That's it. He has earned an entire one of my two stars.

Matthew McConahay, I'm assuming, took the role to show off his despite-my-age body and brag about it. Kudos, now please get off my screen. Every time he opened his mouth it was like nails on a chalkboard.

The worst acting was done by Cody Horn. Once I read her bio I understood how she got the role and why she was the only woman to not show her boobs. Thanks dad!

This story line was as thin as the paper the script was written on. And I use the term written loosely, as the dialog was so lacking it would have been better released as a silent film. That way the blah-blah-blah wouldn't have detracted from the shaved and oiled bodies.

The end of this cinematic achievement was as unsatisfying as a legal lap dance.
